The almond and cream croissants, cherry crumble danish and brownie were exceptional. The cream croissant was my favourite and the cherry crumble danish my husband's favourite. The Pony beer and red wine were also very good.
The bakery makes it possible to enjoy classic bakery products in vegan. For example tasty Croissants and chocolate filled puff pastry. In addition they serve different cakes and brownies.
Popped in for dessert at the end of the day so there wasn’t a full range. We loved the crispy sweet cinnamon bun and the chocolate tart was a delight and a great price! We will go back when we get the chance…
Lots of vegan treats, such as marshmallow tea cakes, croissants and brownies. We went after lunch, so there weren’t any sandwiches left, but they do these too. Also had an oat milk cappuccino which was really good quality.
We come here every week to have the most delicious coffee in all of Ghent and the best creative, original pastries. Their ‘cream croissant’ and ‘sausage roll’ are to die for. Nice interior as well
I’m so glad that places like this exist. Having access to plant based pastries is such a joy for me.
Yet, I found myself a bit disappointed by the service. They served a pain au chocolat cold and the chocolate inside was hard. Moreover, I think there is a lack of variety.
There is a lot of space for improvement! I’m confident that they will get better😄
This place was announced as the first vegan bakery of Ghent, so that set my expectation rather high.
So a bit disappointed by the offer (just a small counter with some koeken/pastries).
(OK, 10 years ago I would have been extatic, but times and experiences have evolved ...).
Focus is very much on coffee. Im not a coffee drinker, love to drink fruit tea, but they didnt have red fruit or regular tea (they do have ginger, sage, linden, ...). But no plain ordinary tea?
So had a apple/rhubarb drink. Inside only a handfull of seatings on uncomfy bar stools.
More seatings outside, but all were taken.
Not accessible. Steps to get in. Didnt see an accessible toilet.
Delicious and more pastries than the other branch - Edit
We came here for breakfast and sat outside. There were more pastries to choose from in this branch. We chose the lemon yuzu pastry, cream croissant and the pain au chocolat. (I can never decide on just 2!) they were really nice and fresh. So much cream and lemon cream. I also had a long black and it was delicious. Nice service and very reasonably priced.
Great pastries. The classics (croissants, pain au chocolat, …) have a new éclair-esque shape which first appeared as reinventing the wheel. But it makes them crunchy & perfectly baked what I often miss with pale, not well-baked croissants. A glass of oat milk wasn’t on in the pay system so I got one for free. The location is cool as well!
Food was okay, but not more. The coffee was good though.
I feel like they used one dough and did different options of it, so the pain au chocolate didn’t really seem like a proper pain au chocolate.
I thought the vegan pastry game here was outstanding, especially the cinnamon bun with the sugar sprinkle - you just don't get that generous a granulation in the UK (demerara aside, we're talking white sugar here). The coffee and almond fillings were on the mildly-flavoured side but no less impressive for it.
Noting the reviews below, I found the service fine and prices pretty typical for the high quality - and did I mention the vegan pastries? The terrace is great and no one rushes you if you linger - I liked this about Ghent cafes in general.
I agree with Liz23 below about the wasps in warm weather. A fully covered pastry counter would seem like a good investment.
I have seen the reviews here that it is a bit on the expensive side and that the service wasn't on point during the first weeks. I guess I'm a bit more realistic with my expectations as I see this place mostly as a take-out bakery and coffee shop, with the sunny terrace as an extra. I have been a fan of the other locations of WAY Coffee for a while now and was really excited about their new pastries. They are all home-made and you can really taste that they went for the best products, just like they do with their coffee. This is something that I'm willing to pay a little extra for. I love their modern twist on the croissant with the new shape (more crust) and different fillings like almond/marzipan, pudding or cinnamon. Honestly, they are all mouthwatering and that's just why I love this place. Will return often!
I'm excited every time a fully vegan cafe opens but my experience was quite meh. I ordered a cappuccino and a pastry. I had already finished my pastry but no sign of any coffee. It turns out my order didn't even go through to the barista but they luckily made it on the spot when I asked. The use good quality products though.

This was one of the best vegan pastries that i ever tried. Coffee was pretty good as well, although coffee bags to buy don't have roast date.

I had the sausage roll and Pain au Chocolat, both really good, although the sausage roll would've been even better heated.
