I'm so full!

This all-vegan has an amazing menu and a great selection of cabinet food. I had the philly cheesesteak sandwich, a cheese roll (a local delicacy that vegans can now enjoy too) and lemon meringue pie.

Pros: Good food at reasonable prices.

Best vegan muffin

Make sure you go to the effort of coming here if you're in Dunedin. Fantastic menu and stunning cabinet food. I wanted to take it all home!

Full vegan breakfast

Location is average (inside a mall), but the food more than makes up for it

Solid menu, good food

We had the Chic'n Burger and Pad thai. The pad thai had good flavours and would recommend. The Chic'n burger was good, homely food.
Although the menu is 100% vegan, they are willing to compromise and sell cows milk in their coffees which are made by a neighbouring shop.

Pros: Full vegan menu, Good selection

Cons: Will sell coffee with cows milk made at the shop

A great place in Central city

Probably the best food in Dunedin. Fantastic food and great servers. Cabinet food is quick, delicious, and well priced. Menu food is scrumptious, though more expensive.

Pros: All vegan, Great servers, Central Location

Dunedin’s Hidden Gem

This all-vegan cafe is the IDEAL place to bring non-vegan friends - bound to impress with a varied menu, delicious freshly made cabinet food and great coffee. Watson’s doesn’t advertise as a vegan or ‘health food cafe but instead delivers a huge range of healthy options as well as more indulgent options such as a seitan burger and chips. This is a great place to bring friends who are doubtful about plant-based diets being affordable and tasting - they won’t even notice the lack of meat and dairy.

Non-vegans were deeply impressed by the almond milk lattes, showing the baristas have a lot of skill!
Only downside is being located in the Wall Street Shopping Centre, which along with the seating arrangement gives it a bit of a ‘mall cafe’ vibe.
If bringing non-vegan friends, advise them to steer clear of the ‘cheese’ rolls and choose a colourful salad or bagel instead.

Pricing is reasonable with meals under $20 and cabinet items such as salads and sandwiches for $5-$10.

Pros: Spoilt for choice with vegan options , Delicious jackfruit sandwiches! , Great coffee

Cons: Mall cafe atmosphere, ,

Great (big) breakfast and almond mocha!

I ordered an almond mocha and the big breakfast. The coffee was really good and so was the food. Big portion, well cooked and very tasty.

Mall cafe

Watson’s is a mall cafe with minimal decoration and plastics seats. The prices are more expensive then the look of the cafe evokes. The food was nothing special. My almond mocha was tasty and hot without being burnt or bitter.

Pros: Accessible vegan

Mixed bag

I always go to let them eat vegan and here when I come up to dunedin, let them eat being closed, I came here three times this week. Whilst I love some aspects it seems like the standards are slipping. I had the Buddha bowl which was mild in flavour and a chocolate Oreo slice which was chalky and crumbly and dry. The savoury food in the cabinet is soggy if you go there after lunch, and there is not many options in anything. I did have the chicken burger which I enjoyed. Still, it’s good to have another vegan
Option in the city.

Pros: Central location , Vegan for mainstream

Cons: Cabinet food expensive for what it is , Variation in quality

Outstanding Vegan Fare in Dunners

Watsons provides an outstanding experience when you walk up to the counter. From the Vegan slices and muffins to the Enchilada's. The "Chicken" burger is to die for and on top of that the Staff are the best. Well worth the walk into Wall st Mall. You will find no cows milk here for your cuppa!

Pros: Staff, Choice of food

Yum

Best vegan sweet food and baking I’ve ever tryed. Down
From nth island and tried sweets and then bought four for takeaway and a sandwich. Some of the best options of vegan baking I’ve seen in a cafe. Especially loved the orange and cheesecake.

DO NOT MISS THIS

Watsons is genuinely the best cafe in town, whether you're vegan or not.
The desserts are to die for, the coffee fantastic and the lunch options are amazing. Also - everything is incredibly well priced.
I would live there if I could. As a local - I cant recommend this place highly enough. GET THERE.

Pros: Excellent food, Excellent coffee, Insanely delicious desserts

Great spot!

Amazing selection of food. Everything is vegan! Salads were delicious and sticky date pudding with ice cream was the best I’ve ever had! Definitely worth the visit. Not too far into the mall so doesn’t feel like a food court 😍

Spoilt for choice + marvellous mocha

The choice from the cabinet food is plentiful; so many sweet options that I, with a self-proclaimed black belt in dessert eating since age 10, could not even pick one and went with a savoury option of pizza (oh the identity crisis!!) - with artichokes, vegan cheese and other yummies.

The mocha was just perfect, kudos to the barista!

Being located in the middle of a city mall is a bit stressful for an introvert like m'self, but then again -- let us just ponder for a moment that vegan grub has made it into the commercial spaces eh!! Easier than ever to eat make compassionate choices; keep it up Dunedin!

Pros: location - so accessible!

Cons: location - a bit noisy/uncosy

Best baking ever

Hands down the best baking and cabinet food I’ve had ever. Such a huge range of baking we had difficulty choosing. Was here on the weekend and tried about 10 different baking bits with my partner and a friend who were here for the concert. Everything was delicious, flavoursome and presented beautifully. My friend couldn’t believe it was all vegan and how good it tasted. Had chips and the chicken burger and smash avo too and they were delicious. Stay and service were prompt and nice despite how busy they were. Will be back.

Pros: Vegan and gf baking , Chips and aioli, Sweet staff

Cons: Mall atmosphere noise

Great food

I was only visiting Dunedin for two days and came here for breakfast on both days because it was that good! I tried the Mushroom Risotto, Summer Buddha Bowl, Sausage Roll and Chocolate Avo Mousse Brownie cup (was sharing plates). All the food was flavourful and very filling. Would love to come back here if I got the chance.

Pros: Food, Friendly Staff, Central location

Cons: Mall atmosphere

Sehr, sehr gute Kuchen!

Immer wieder gerne!

Pros: Freundliche Bedienung , Refined sugar free options , Große Auswahl an Kuchen

Cons: Nicht so gemütlich (direkt in einem Einkaufszentru

Loved the cupcake!

This place was a good find in Dunedin. We had the Laksa and the 'chicken' burger. The laksa was delicious, not too spicy, very tasty. Burger was good. Great range of desserts. Loved the red velvet cupcake, but it was huge! Very delicious though!

Pros: All vegan, Good range, Lots of desserts

Average

Got here too late to try the menu so we ended up having filo with bean salad and snickers cheesecake. Really nothing exceptional about the flavours and the bean salad in particular was quite dull. Would try again with the menu though if back in Dunedin.

Fabulous food

Visiting Dunedin and have been to Watson's every day. So much to choose from and some different things in the cabinet each day. I would take this higher if I could. Very good prices. Lovely people too.
