I love the Farmers Market because, in addition to the heaps of fresh produce, there are plentiful vegan options. The following are the vendors that I know to have vegan products: Mountain Flower Bakery (delicious vegan mini sweet bread loaves, sometimes other vegan baked goods); Foggy Mountain Pasta (homemade vegan pasta, only saw one type but it was tasty); essie & olive (popsicle cart that makes delicious popsicles, marks which ones contain dairy, always 2-3 vegan options); organic chocolate vendor—don’t know the name (offer dark chocolate bars sweetened with maple syrup & coconut sugar, cacao nibs, cacao tea, and some raw vegan treats and truffles—marked with a V); and a pesto and pickle vendor—don’t know the name (advertises nondairy/vegan options on their sign).
Over the years, the Farmer's Market has grown in quality and quantity of products. It's open May through Oct on Saturdays and part of the summer on Wednesdays, as well. Not all food is locally grown and not all is organic, so be sure to ask, if those are important criteria to you. You'll find excellent choices for vegetables and other farm products, however.
The Watauga County Farmer's Market is one of the most wonderful markets I have ever been to. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, this is where you will find the real Boone, NC.
At Hold the Heat Raw Food Makery's booth Saturday mornings you will find raw food breakfast of raw granola, nut milk and fruit. On Wednesdays you will find salads and flax chips with guacamole and fresh salsa from dinner or evening snack. Other products for sale include: Flax Chips, Raw Chocolate, Raw Truffles, Spicy Sprouts, Fresh Sprouts, Raw Granola, Fresh Kombucha, Nut Milk, and Seed Cheese (to name a few).
