Not many vegan options

Nice atmosphere but not many vegan options. All the buns are fried in the same oil as meat.

Pros: Nice atmosphere, Lively, Staff were helpful

Cons: Not many vegan options, Unintentionally misleading

Lovely Teahouse and Restaurant

It's nice to spend some time at this large yet atmospheric teahouse and restaurant on the main street in Hualien. The menu has a few vegetarian and vegan items available (mushroom hot pot, sesame noodles, steamed buns, radish cakes, stewed tofu, blanched greens etc). There is the option of almond or oat milk for teas as well as traditional drinks. If you can't read Chinese it might be difficult to order as the ordering process is done through scanning a QR code using your smartphone to see the menu. If you ask the staff for assistance they may be able to help. They open till late in the evening which is ideal if you want a late meal or to chill with friends and have some tea. It is also within walking distance of the train station. They have another branch at 1-20 Ming Xin Street too.

Pros: atmospheric and pretty, large selection of teas, has plant-based options, close to train station

Cons: mostly non-vegan/vegetarian food, hard to order if you don't read Chinese
