make sure your food has the vegan flag in it - Edit
i’ve been coming to wally’s ever since they started having vegan options (back when it really was only a couple options on the regular menu). it’s amazing that they have a full separate vegan menu now, and i love that there’s a local restaurant with vegan breakfast options. there have been many times where something in my order was messed up, or the service was terrible, but nothing to make me stop going. mistakes happen and people have bad days. now that there’s a vegan menu, i always ask for it specifically of course, and i always specify vegan when ordering. recently i ordered the vegan breakfast quesadilla. when it came out, i bit into it and knew immediately it had eggs and cheese in it. the server rung it in wrong, and they asked if i wanted it remade. i said i’m not eating what was given to me, but that my appetite was gone after biting into eggs and cheese. i explained that many vegans live this lifestyle for ethical reasons, and being an ethical vegan for 8 years and having to spit dairy and eggs out ruined my day. i didn’t expect them to understand, but not only did they not understand, they did not give a single sh*t, which is weird when you have a whole vegan menu and are trying to attract us as customers. i did not get a single apology whatsoever, and instead, essentially got told i’m stupid because i should’ve known that the vegan meals come out with a vegan flag stuck into the food, and this one obviously didn’t have a flag. like i said, i’ve been coming here for years, and there are many times that the food comes out without a flag. also, i should be getting what i ordered and trust that it’s what i ordered without having to look for a flag. how is it my fault? it’s a shame, i’ve been a customer for so long and enjoy their food, and all it takes is one incident of them being completely disrespectful to a customer and blaming me for their mistake for me to leave a bad review and be wary of ever going back. it’s not even about the mistake. like i said, mistakes happen! but not apologizing and blaming me was so wild and inappropriate.

I’ve eaten at Wally’s for blithe breakfast and dinner and have never been disappointed. Vegan options are tasty and original. Highly recommend the pesto gnocchi dish.

Favorite restaurant at the Jersey Shore - Edit
Wally’s has an entire vegan breakfast and vegan lunch/dinner menu that includes desserts. I have yet to find another restaurant that offers this many vegan options in addition to the normal menu, making it a hit among my family, some of whom are not vegan and don’t like the plant based options.

After seeing online that Wally’s had a big vegan menu, I wanted to give them a try and support it. The atmosphere is cozy and cute, and the staff is pleasant. There is parking available out front and it is wheelchair accessible.

It would be nice if it was incorporated into the full menu instead of being a special request. I ordered the quesadillas for an appetizer, and must say that they were delicious! Fresh ingredients and very tasty! After that, I had the “chicken” parm sandwich. I wasn’t really a fan of that one. Tasted like a microwave dinner and it was dry with not very much sauce on it at all. My partner had the seitan cheesesteak which was the better choice IMO.
Will happily return to try more and support the business and vegan menu!

We weren't offered the vegan menu when we arrived. We were only offered the breakfast and the lunch menu. Since we knew they had a vegan menu, we asked for it, and it was no problem getting it. But for the ones who don't know, it can be a bit disappointing, I would imagine.
Read moreThe vegan menu had a wide variety of foods. Breakfast, starters, lunch, you name it. The variety did not disappoint. Quesadillas for starters and a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich as the main course was a good choice for me. It was all very delicious and it was a very filling amount of food, so we did not have to leave with hungry stomachs. I highly recommend this place!

It’s rare that every item I have at a meal or a restaurant is off the charts, but that is the case at Wally’s. I was blown away by the avocado egg rolls appetizer and it just got better from there. 5 stars, no matter what the app says!

If you’re looking for vegan food on LBI, Wally’s is the place to go! They have LOTS of vegan options on their menu, from starters to entrées to desserts, and they’re all DELICIOUS, which isn’t surprising when you consider the fact that one of the owners is herself a vegan. They put a big emphasis on freshness, so they make almost everything on the premises, and they’re always coming up with new vegan dishes to put on their menu. To top it all off, their staff is always super-friendly. #Veganuary

Their vegan selection is pretty great - pancakes, waffles, breakfast sandwich/burrito, some sort of japanese soufflé pancakes(?), omelettes and the like. I went with their vegan hash and found it really well thought out and executed.

New menu caters to alternative diets! - Edit
For some reason happy cow app was not listing this great option when searching for vegan options in LBI, but recently are (at least not popping up in my searches). They now are one of the best finds on the island. We’ve gone multiple times this year and always for breakfast, which is their specialty. I’ve had their tofu scramble, soy chorizo hash bowl, and just eggs omelet, and all were very good. Definitely worth a try, especially if with friends/family that eat the fateful american diet.

First of all, they purposefully expanded their kitchen so that all vegan menu options is cooked on completely separate ovens and burners away so as to not cross contaminate with their other non vegan options.

We had vegan soup and quesadillas for starters (not pictured) we were so hungry forgot a picture! We also had the Buddha Bowl and Chickpea Burger. 10/10 FIVE STARS. Especially for the vegan cheese.
Want to come back in the morning for their vegan breakfast item options!
Tip: when you’re within 10miles of the restaurant use their Yelp waitlist to get a spot in line to be seated in advance. Was super helpful to get seated within no more of waiting 5 min upon arrival once you check in with the hostess.
Definitely a spot to go to when visiting LBI.

Read moreI had portobello fajita with peppers and onions. No kidding the order came with 1 small piece of onion, 5 small mushroom pieces if that and tons of peppers. When mentioned, waitstaff brought some fried greasy yellow onions not ref. Obviously they were being cheap and didnt fully get that mushrooms to a vegan, should have been the main event. $19 for sauteed peppers and a fajita, very disappointing.

Lots of options for vegans - Edit
We ordered the vegan garden chickn and avocado sandwich, which was really good, as well as the vegan pancakes, which had an off bitter taste…. Based on the mix, I was going to give them a 3, but given the huge lack of options in Ocean County, and the fact that they are definitely trying to accommodate both vegan and gluten-free folks, I decided they get an A for effort. Will definitely try again.

I got the Chickpea Burger with the vegan Caesar Salad on the side. My husband and I ended up switching burgers because we liked each other’s more! So I ended up eating his Quinoa Beet Burger. It was delicious!

Lots of vegan options! It’s hard to find a place that my whole family enjoys (I’m the only vegan) and this place accolades everyone! The vegan quesadillas are AMAZING and the quinoa beet and bean burger are great as well! I have yet to try the other vegan options but will be back!

Read moreThe side salad that came w my quinoa beet burger was a generous portion. The chipotle sauce was eh. Not sure if I really don’t have chipotle or if it just tasted weird. The cauliflower soup was a pleasant surprise. I was disappointed that the Buffalo cauliflower was not vegan.
I do think I would have had a better experience if the server had better etiquette. He tried to take our plates while we literally were putting the fork in our mouths. Dropped the bill before we were done our meal. Etc.

I got the vegan quesadillas and unfortunately they put non-vegan sour cream with them. I’m not sure if that was an accident or if they always do that so watch out. The quesadillas were very good though and so was the gardien chicken sandwich! The coleslaw that comes with the sandwich is also not vegan.
