Delicious Asian food with many vegan options - Edit
There is a vegan tasting menu as well as individual vegan dishes on the menu. There are plenty to choose from such as woks with sechuan sauce, wok with vegan shrimps, fried corn, avocado tartar and much more. There are also vegan options for dessert, the fried banana with mango sorbet is delicious!

Elevated dinner with good vegan choices - Edit
I came here a little while ago with a group of friends for dinner. There's certainly plenty of choice for vegans on the dinner menu and all dishes are beautifully plated. I had some dumplings to start with, followed by the stir-fried vegan prawns with pak choi and wild abalone, and the fried banana with almonds, fruit, vegan vanilla ice cream, and syrup. The food tasted as great as it looked and I enjoyed the dinner. The restaurant is very big and it was busy, so service was a bit patchy at times. Overall, though, Waipo makes for a good, elevated, dinner venue with sufficient vegan choices.

Super tasty Yum Cha menu - Edit
Very tasty food. We were there for the Yum Cha. Unfortunately they only have 3 vegan dumplings, one noodle dish and one type of spring rolls. But everything was very tasty. And we were able to get the vegan dishes served separate from the meat dishes. The Oolong tea was good as well.

An experience - Edit
I have been here three times, one of the times I had the vegan tasting menu, which was great and I would recommend to anyone looking for a fun experience. Other times I've had the dumplings, they are soooo good, the mushroom ones are the best dumplings I ever had.

All 8 courses where tasty, but the dumplings where probably my favourite. 3 different vegan desserts to choose from. I had the deep fried banana which was served with mango sorbet in it's vegan version.

Nice venue, tried 4 vegan options. I don’t regret it yet a bit on the pricy side.

God avsmakningsmeny - Edit

Luxe dining, many vegan dishes - Edit
My friend and I were looking to have an early dinner on a Saturday and were happy to find that Waipo had free tables. The restaurant has a cosy, warm, luxe interior with a long bar in the middle. They have lots of tables spread out on different levels. It's accessible from the MOOD shopping mall and the pedestrian street. Ambience is pleasant and calm. We were seated at one of the smaller tables along a corridor/passage although it didn't feel busy as they had a robot that travelled up and down the corridor, delivering food from the kitchen. It had the face of a cat and made cute noises as it passed by, and could sense if someone/something was obstructing its path.
Read moreI had a bit of difficulty grasping the vegan items on the menu at first but after consulting the staff, I opted for two tapas. In hindsight, I would perhaps of chosen one of the vegan dumplings instead of mushroom tapas with soy protein. It had a nice flavour with just the amount of spice although wasn't super interesting. The sweetcorn tempura with added crisp served a sweet and sour dip was more satisfying although expensive at 125 kr. That being said, I did enjoy both dishes and the setting really added to the experience. I can imagine that the atmosphere would be different around lunch time for example.
I felt I had room for something more so I opted for the deep-fried banana with mango sorbet (instead of vanilla) a classic Swedified dessert that is found in most Chinese restaurants in Sweden (exclusively?).
I quite like the idea of social dining and being able to share several vegan dishes with someone. As other reviewers have mentioned, the tasting menu appears to be better value as prices per tapas dish are pretty high. I reckon some of the prices are a bit excessive for the vegan options, given what they are, although they are reflective of the slightly finer dining experience that Waipo offers.
Pros: Nice ambience, many vegan dishes, friendly and attentive service
Cons: Expensive

Everything was really good! We had the 8 part tasting menu (and then dessert was included as a 9th dish) and the taste was amazing! Some things was a little more spicy.

Inconsistent but mostly good 😊 - Edit
I have been to Waipo several times and sometimes it’s amazing and sometimes just okay. Usually when I order the 8 course taste menu I get really satisfied but the dishes on the a la carte menu is not always great. It is a nice place with good cocktails though 🍸

High end food, portions could be slightly bigger. - Edit
There are a number of great sounding vegan options on the menu. You should see the main course dishes as more like ‘plates for sharing’ as you’ll need more than one for sure. The staff are friendly and the service was quick.

Very disappointing - Edit
I visited Waipo a couple of times, back when they were located in the main tourist street. While I didn't dislike the food (billed as Asian tapas), I found it, as a previous reviewer noted, too expensive if you're on your own. Also, it didn't help that a dish containing assorted shellfish would be listed as vegetarian.
Read moreFast-forward a few years and Waipo finds a new niche, hence a vegan tasting menu, hopefully completely devoid of animal products this time round. I've tried it once or twice and am still far from sold. While it did help for sure that a 50% discount was offered at the time, I found most dishes to be rather plain. To be fair, they did the trick, but weren’t even remotely close to what my fave restaurants in the city have to offer. The atmosphere was sort of fine dining but still relaxed, however I don’t enjoy shopping centres at all, so that didn’t help either.
Service may have been professional enough, but still have to abide by Pong’s(owner of this and some 30other restaurants in Sweden)policies. A few years ago they too succumbed to the cashless trend adopted to prioritize security at the expense of liberty. Unlike many other local businesses their refusal applies to any and all cash, even exact amounts. To sum up, there are far superior places to Waipo that are worthy of a visit or two.

Not for solo eating - Edit
I was having dinner here before an event, and I was by myself, that proved to be a misstake although the outdoor seating was excellent.
Read moreThe menu here have a clear marked vegan section for the small tapas but there also is some vegan meals and dumplings which is not as clear (though at least partly marked).
I choice to go with the tapas dishes because they seemed tastier and because I do not like Oumph that much and it was a lot of that (why a resturant going for a chinese vibe needs to go with a fake meat instead of tofu is beyond me).
That said I decided that ordering three tapas would be enough for me, and it was because I also had desert (sorbets). The dishes I went with was:
Su Zha Lu Sun - Crispy Aspargus with soy-dressing, this turned out to be lighlty fried and taste quite good but as a super fan of asparagus I would have wanted more and am not sure if frying it was nesecary.
Gan Bian Dou Jiao - Woked Haricoverts in soy and garlic. This was quite good, although this dish should have had some chili to give it some extra strength. But I did enjoy it quite a lot.
Sichuan la wei Zong he mo gu - Szechuan roastes mushrooms. And as a lover of strong szechuan food that gives both that chili and numbness, this was quite good, though it could give a bit more of this.
The drink menu was quite okey with non-alcoholic options and I quite enjoyed my ginger beer.
I also ended the dinner with there sorbets as they where one of the two deserts mentioned as vegan, though the tea-spiced and baked Pineapple sounded nice except I do not like Pineapple.
So what is my overall feeling of this resturant, well it is a good resturant with some quite good food. But it is as they themself say a social eating resturant, and as somebody that often eat out alone not optimal for me.
But heres the thing I feel after eating thoose that the five or 8 course vegan dinner would have not been much more expensive and quite tasty (it requires at least two to order).
Pros: Clerarly marked menu, Outdoor seating, Non-alcoholic drinks
Cons: Not for eating alone, Perhaps pricey
