De wisselende menu's van Voorheen zijn heel erg lekker! De service is ook vlot. Op donderdag is het menu veganistisch en op vegetarische dagen is er altijd wel een mouw aan te passen. Ik kom graag weer terug!

Food good, service bad - Edit

2 April 2016 we went for dinner here. It had good reviews in a local newspaper. A young girl welcomed us and served as waitress as well. She wasn't too sure if there was a table for us, since we had no reservations. The only other staff member was the cook, visiblein the open kitchen. It was early (6 pm) and only 3 of the 20 tables were in use. Eventually, we were allowed to pick a table in the section next to the service bar.

On the table we found a document telling the restaurant story. It has no menu, because there is a set menu per day. Our starter was green pea soup with mint, which tasted well. The main course consisted of pasta with creamy nut sauce, roasted celeriac, green lentils and red onion with rucola. While eating the soup, we had witnessed that at an adjacent table, they had to take the plates back to the kitchen because the main ingredient, the creamy nut sauce, was missing. Our plates were fine and the dish tasted well.

One of the other parties had already finished and wanted to pay which seemed to cause confusion. The customer left and returned after a while. I wasn't paying attention what was going on.

Then, while eating our main course, a gentleman entered and apparently was a staff member. The young girl got her coat and left. From the discussion of the man with the cook, it was clear he had run very late. But he didn't seem to consider it a problem. Just as he didn't, when he took our finished plates and asked what we would drink with the dessert (apple-dade pie with cinnamon - which was good as well), which we ordered while saying we had a train to catch. He then didn't go get our desserts and coffees, but went to use the restroom. Only after that he served our desserts, which created a delay that made it doubtful if we could indeed catch that train.

But then, once we wanted to pay (by debit card), it turned out that this was not possible because the system wasn't working. And had not been for a couple of days. The sign "plesae pay by card" was still up though. Now we understood the earlier confusion: also the other customers had to go out and walk to the nearest cash machine (400 meters one way) to get money to pay. Like us, more customers went there for cash. Why could the staff not tell us before we ordered? Or take away the sign? Or offer that we could pay by bank transfer? Now we really missed that train.

The open kitchen was being cleaned and the dishwasher run while we were eating, creating a hell of a noise.
