A Welsh Wonder - Edit
We'd heard lots of good things about Voltaire so we were very excited to visit.
Read moreThe atmosphere and staff are lovely, and the food was exceptional. There's lots of choice on the menu. We had a burger, the hickory snokehouse and a biscoff sundae for dessert. Huge portions so make sure you arrive hungry!

Soggy take away - Edit
They no longer open in the afternoon. Darren was kind enough to offer me a take away but only accepted cash and not card nor a bank transfer. He directed me to an ATM at BP fuel station which they didn't have one. I ended up having to walk over 3km around to Kwik Save to the closest ATM. This delay caused the food I ordered to be soggy.
Read moreI ordered the Bada boom gluten free and the chocolate doughnut (has gluten). It took me alot of walking to get here, the closest bus stop is 1.5km away and a slightly inclined road. I couldn't enjoy it sitting outside. Also found it carb overload full of potato chips and a hash brown. The meal very dry as no sauces were provided.
The doughnut looks and has the texture of a doughnut but didn't taste like one and had a fake essence taste to it.
The patty is also gluten free which is good they can adapt most of the meals to be gluten free.

We came here 3 times in a week - Edit
I've been to great restaurants in NYC, LA, Sydney, London, and more. Voltaire is up there with the best of the best, with warm and welcoming staff and decor plus five star food. We loved the Beast (we got it twice), the Slow Boat to China (such interesting flavours), and adored the creamy garlic mushrooms and the wok fried tofu. Lovely desserts too - doughnuts, brownies and sundaes galore. Beware the American Dream Platter on the dessert menu, it's delicious but a bit of a monster! You might need three people to get through it. On the other hand, give the loaded hot chocolate a try!

This place is by far my favourite. If only I lived in wales I would be here every day!
Read moreThe service was fantastic, and super friendly!
The food … was so good! The only down side (not a downside really) is the menu is so good you can’t decide what to have with there being so many options!
5 star across the board

Delicious vegan Sunday roast - Edit
We found this place when we were staying in Llandudno and were searching the internet for a vegan roast. It had good reviews so we decided to drive the half hour down the coast to try it, and were so glad we did! We both went for the seitan roast, which was incredible. There were a lot of vegetables on the plate which I liked, and was particularly pleased that there was vegan cauliflower cheese with it! We would definitely come back here if we are ever in the area again.

OMG there isn't much to say about Voltaire that hasn't already been said, but if you're in Bangor it is a must try!
Read moreWe got The Beast (the cauli wings are to die for!), a side of tofu (again, spectacular) and the Beach Salad which came with heart of palm calamari (so good!) and VFC. Also tried a coffee float, a brownie and an incredible lemon drizzle donut. 10/10

To die for! - Edit
Voltaire restaurant packs a punch. It has a cozy atmosphere with nice lighting and a selection of artistic skateboards covering some of the walls. The owner and staff are welcoming and attentive. The food is scrumptious, 100% vegan and your non-vegan friends will approve. I recommend the creamy mushroom starter with garlic bread, the Voltaire burger, the slow boat to China, as well as their cocktails!

You have to go here! - Edit
Honestly spoiled for choice with the menu. We had the Big Bada Boom burger and the Naughty Ninja burger. Both delicious! We then had a sharing dessert with donuts, cream, ice cream, chocolate sauce, marshmallows and Oreos and it was incredible. The staff were lovely and the food came quickly. Wished we had been in Bangor longer than one day so we could try more of the menu

We went here during our week's holiday to North Wales. We ate in several restaurants during the week, but Voltaire was easily the best meal we had.

Kind staff, plenty of choices on the menu, some great tasting drinks. The beast is insane and I really didn't need a side with mine but I ate it anyway as it was too good to leave. I'd wanted to visit for a while because of these mega reviews, it didn't disappoint either. Definitely recommend

Fantastic TakeAway - Edit
Super easy to place an order over the phone & really efficient collection. The place itself is lovely; really original, relaxing atmosphere, unique decor & a great location. The owner (forgot her name, sorry!) was so friendly & really helpful & even threw in 2 delicious donuts on the house as a 30th Birthday treat for me! The food was beautiful! Easily one of the best TakeAways I’ve had in a long time & I’m so glad we found this place. We’ll definitely be coming back the next time we’re in the area. Highly recommend a visit if you’re looking for a variety of tasty vegan foods.

Beaten by The Beast - Edit
We visited here when holidaying in Wales. This place is amazing. You could be forgiven for thinking that you had somehow been transported to a lovely little French boutique.

Considering that I’d just driven for over four hours, and was really hungry, I decided to order “The Beast”. It was immense. I’m normally a big eater but there was too much for me and I didn’t manage to eat it all. It tasted delicious and if I’m ever near here again then I would eat here again.
Pros: Lots of vegan options , Romantic atmosphere , Great food

Delicious! - Edit
Had the Jamaican cauliflower wings and they were good but does not compare to the skewer dish - I don't see it on the menu now but it was basically delicious seitan, sweetcorn, tomatoes, red onions, mushrooms, peppers and something else on a stick glazed in tasty sauce. It was so good that we didn't want to share it hahaha!

Superb fare - Edit
The group with which I recently toured Wales made a stop in Bangor. One of the members googled restaurants and made the choice to visit Voltaire. Myself and three non veg ladies had an outstanding meal. My falafel came with so many different veg flavors in the roasted beets, fresh green salad, couscous and hummus that trying to pick a favorite escapes me. The other dishes ordered looked just as good as the one I had and I could have easily eaten there for a month without repeats or boredom.

Enlightening - Edit
Since its inception a few years ago, the team at Voltaire has shaken up the vegan scene in North Wales by providing consistently excellent vegan food from starter to desserts. With their new menu, however, they've definitely raised the bar.
Read moreTravellers in search of good hearty vegan food should definitely make the visit to Bangor to try the Voltaire experience. As soon as you step inside, you are greeted by the friendly atmosphere and well-decorated space. It gets very busy on weekends, so reservations are advised.
As for the food, what Voltaire excels at is bringing global fusion dishes to the table. They have a wide array of tasty burgers too (shoutout to the Voltaire burger!), but their à la carte options are worth trying. From South Korean to Mexican, Indian to Italian, it is always interesting to see what is on offer. Their experimentation with vegan fish has also been a success, in this author's opinion.
After your meal, stretch your legs with a walk to Bangor Pier, giving you the perfect opportunity to continue to plan your travels... or your next visit!
Top tips: --> Visit on Sunday afternoon for their take on the traditional British Sunday Roast, or try their Vegan High Teas.
--> Follow them on Facebook to view what's going on!
Pros: Nice vibe, Excellent food, Good portion sizes

Very kind - Edit
This is a great restaurant that anyone would like, because the food is very good. Sounds obvious I suppose, but better than that are the people who work there. They are very kind and Vegan of course ( the two go together) So this makes the experience so much better for a visiting Vegan, you can relax and eat anything and not worry that the chef doesn't care. I've been a couple of times and will definitely be back when in North Wales again. Thanks 😊

What a lovely little restaurant! It’s so nice to find such a little gem when on holiday! Being vegan on holiday in North wales, I didn’t expect to find many places that catered to me, however this was a dream! It’s so lovely to be able to pick anything on the menu for once. The staff were more than helpful and friendly and the interior was decorated very nicely, Thank you!😄
