Great food

I was happy to see this place was a chain. Was worried when we were the only ones inside but it was nice to see others come in as we ate.

Food is really good I just wish some things were a little better on price (like 6 wings for $12 instead of 4). I would also love to see them have in house eating options and not just take out packaging that can create a lot of waste.

That being said the food is great and service is fast. The Cali 🌯 kept me full for a whole ass day.

Fresh and flavorful

Viva la Vegan offers an impressive selection of plant-based dishes.
The quesa torta crispiness combined with the melted vegan cheese and savory fillings creates a satisfying dish that is comforting and flavorful.

Pros: Lots of options, Fully vegan, Fast service

Get your Birria fix here

I went vegan before birria became super popular, so I’m glad this place was open so I can try a vegan version. I think it tastes pretty authentic, but I can’t say for sure. The food is tasty, 10/10. The place in terms of decor was a bit bare bones, and they didn’t ask me if I wanted to eat here or to-go. They wrapped everything in a to-go bag which made me feel like I should take it to go. However, I wanted to sit there and eat and felt like it was a waste to give me a paper bag.

I once tried coming here in 2022 but the wait was long so I ended up giving up. I never forgot this place though and I am glad I gave it a second chance. I would totally come back if I were in the area!

Pros: Authentic, Unique, Tasty

Cons: Oily, Decor was minimal, A bit salty

Lots of options

The staff here is always the best, welcoming and friendly, and it’s got a great vibe, so I want to love it but the food is just meh. I’ve been there several times so I haven’t tried everything on the menu but I’ve had what they seem to promote as their signature dishes and they’re just kind of bland and sometimes very greasy.

OK

Nothing special, and I was not impressed. It was food and filed my belly. Grateful to find a vegan restaurant in the IE, though.

Great food, wasteful plastic

Viva Vegan Diner serves exceptionally good tacos and Mexicali fare. The tacos, nachos, and sopes were all delicious.

Service is warm and helpful.

The only downside is ecological: there’s a lot of unnecessarily wasteful single-use plastic. Even for dine-in orders, they use “disposable” plastic cups for salsa, consommé, and drinks. Hopefully they can eliminate plastic to take better care of the planet and its critters. At the relatively high prices they’re charging, it should be easily manageable.

We recommend bringing your own containers.

Excellent food!

Our family had dinner here on a Saturday night and had an excellent experience. We ordered the Carne Asade Plate, the Birria Ramen, the Crunchwrap, and the Taco Meal, and all were delicious! The service was fast and very friendly. And there was a fun Ms. Pac-Man arcade game to play. We are very glad to have another great vegan option near Claremont and we will certainly be returning.

Excellent food!!

Atmosphere was chill, & everything was delicious. The only possible complaint would be the fact that you can’t order the entire menu in 1 sitting!!

Savory El Pastor!

If you’re in the area like I was then definitely drop in and order the El pastor tacos. The veg protein is flavorful and the avocado salsa is delicious and really makes the tacos shine. I look forward to be in the area sometime again to sample the other menu offerings.

Pros: Vegan, Plenty of parking 🅿️

Cons: The watermelon fresca was way too sweet.

Viva Vegan Diner is Vibrant!

Prior to visiting this restaurant, I contacted them on Instagram to ask about what food items contain nuts since hubby is deathly allergic. My online question was answered within a day with a response of "we use almond milk and cashews for the Mac and cheese."

Upon entering the restaurant, we were warmly greeted by an employee and after waiting for her to finish assisting other customers, we were able to place our order of a loaded quesadilla with asada and a chik'n wrap with oysters mushrooms for me, a taco trio plate with jackfruit birria, a beef taquitos plate with rice and beans, viva las fries with asada for hubby and a large cucumber lime aqua fresca for us both.

The restaurant is spacious with a variety of seating options including sitting at a booth, sitting at a table, or a combination of both.

Our food quickly arrived and everything was freshly made, plated well, and was flavorful. Although we arrived closer to closing time, staff didn't make us feel rushed while eating our dinner. Hubby throughly enjoyed all of the food that was ordered and was delighted to have food to take with him for work lunch the following day. With such a large variety of menu items to choose from, we're definitely going to be eating here more often!

Pros: Variety of food option (tacos, burger, wraps), Friendly staff, Large portions

Vegan Eating in the IE

Ordered the Sope Plate and side order of a quesadilla, cucumber lime agua which was yummy and I would recommend! The Sope Plate came with beans and rice but those seemed very bland (or maybe they’ll never measure up to mom’s cooking?). I don’t know, but I needed salt. Also I feel like this review is biased as several people hyped this place up.

Service was great which totally elevated the experience but they seemed understaffed as it was a lengthy process.

Off note - they were showing a live stream of aquarium footage which totally confused me, because surely my marine friends don’t like being in captivity. Areas for improving for sure.

Pros: Fully Vegan/Plant-Based, Friendly Personnel and Service, Cucumber Lime Agua w/Light Ice

Cons: Ordering Food to Arrival was a Lengthy Process, Food Could Be Tastier • No Valentina Salsa, Showing Aquarium Footage of Jellyfish (Not Vegan)

What!? You don't like looking at video of tortured (all captivity is torture) animals while you eat in a vegan resto. How weird!! Shame the photos look bomb.

Blown Away

Vegan options are few and far between in this area, so I was just happy to find options let alone a fully vegan spot with LOTS of items to choose from. Food was great, service was fast and friendly.

Delicious with lots of variety

Got the quesabirria for my mom and a Nashville burger with coleslaw for myself. Incredible flavor and just spicy enough.

Was just enough food to be satisfying, but not enough to really hit the spot.

Pros: Delicious, Lots of options, Good vibe inside with lots of seating

Cons: Smallish portions

Vegan Birria Tacos!

Was picking up a bed frame in Upland and saw this gem pop up on Happy Cow. From the bright neon signs to the lively and diverse playlist they had on, the workers’ own energy and personality matched the welcoming environment of the restaurant perfectly. The food was in a league of their own - up there with the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. I 100% recommend the Birria Tacos and the Tamale plate to really see how well this place has honed their craft. Look forward to coming back soon! #Veganuary

Pros: 100% Vegan, Chill & relaxed atmosphere

Cons: On the pricey side (but it’s worth it)

It’s finally open and I’m a happy lady!

I have been meaning to try their Colton Location but never made it! I was ecstatic when I heard that they opened a second location in Upland! The spot is really cute and the inside although a little dark is still has a cool vibe. They have daily specials which are some of the best diner food (mushroom “chiken” sandwich was so freaking yummy)I’ve ever had. Staff is extremely nice and helpful if you’re not sure what to order! It’s expensive but the food is totally worth it! I will definitely be back and I’m bringing the family! #Veganuary

Pros: The food is absolutely delish, Friendly staff and an a decent amount of seating, Portions are a good size

Cons: EXPENSIVE. , A little salty but not overwhelming, Limited drink options

Brand New Vegan Restaurant!

We were so excited to see a new all-vegan restaurant in town and are very glad we stopped by! This place is very clean, usually has great music playing, and serves delicious food. Has tons of authentic Mexican food as well as a couple non-Mexican dishes. The Cali burrito, chicken fried steak, and baked Mac and cheese were amazing 10/10.
