Maybe I wanted pizza and it wasn’t pizza night….. - Edit
Chose the Fregola Primavera which was dominated by the flavour of the vegan cream, it just made me long for classic Italian dishes that are essentially vegan. It also seemed odd to over pizzas on the main menu but vegan pizzas only available Saturday and Sunday.

Awesome food.
Read moreDedicated vegan menu with entrees, mains (pasta and pizzas) and desserts - yes, plural.
Close the garlic focaccia for starter and then the gnocchi for main - delicious!!
This is definitely the place if you want a great vegan Italian fix.
Great location looking over the marina.

Great vegan pizza, Napoli style - Edit
Saw mixed reviews about the pizza, about it being ‘soggy’. However we thought the pizza was great, proper Napoli style with big soft crusts, a flat crisp base, and the vegan cheese was pretty good too. Nice that they have a separate vegan menu with many options and the staff were really friendly. Would recommend.

Not too impressive - Edit
The bread was pretty salty. It was good enough for me to eat the whole panuozzo, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here.

Excellent pizza, good prices, nice ambiance - Edit
I was hesitant to come here but was pleasantly surprised. They have a whole separate vegan menu with a few pasta options and pizzas. We tried two pizzas and both were really good. It’s nice to be able to go out to a meal at a nice place on the water and have plenty of GOOD options! Prices were really good and we went home with leftovers.

Don't get the Vegan Calzone :( - Edit
If you were desparate for a Vegan feed, then sure come here. Otherwise, don't. Overpriced. The ingredients in the in the Calzone were undercooked and Vegan cheese didn't melt.

Separate vegan menu - Edit
These guys do great food and have a dedicated vegan menu with plenty of options. I've gone the beetroot gnocchi in the past (delicious) but went for the calzone today which was very good. It's not the cheapest place you'll find, but it's good food at a good location, and with plenty of options.

Yum! - Edit
They have a separate vegan menu. Delicious food and beautiful view, what more could you ask for? We also had the garlic focaccia for entree but was too hungry to take a photo. We had the Umbria pizza and gnocchi al pomodoro for mains. Both were absolutely delicious. Generous topping of mushrooms and just the right amount of truffle paste on the pizza for a well balanced flavour. Highly recommend!

Basic - Edit
I was very excited to get some authentic Italian but honestly was quite disappointed with our meals. The Cinque Terre vegan pizza was very tasty, but had a fairly basic set of toppings. The Calzone vegan was quite bad though to be honest. The filling of boiled veg (very bland undercooked potato and carrot) and in really small quantities, I was really disappointed with my meal, the bread part was delicious and that's about it. The price was insanely high at $26 for 80% bread 20% boiled veg. Sadly won't be back here.

Looked like a winner, however... - Edit
We had seen the good reviews, discovered they had a vegan menu, and even tried to turn up as walk-in's after a day out on the reef but couldn't get in. That's all usually a good sign...
Read moreWe made a booking, turned up and had dinner. With the wee bottle of oil and balsamic on the table we'd hoped it might be quite European where they bring a little complimentary basket of bread too the table while you consider the menu. They do not.
The entree (mushrooms and spuds) was ok, but way too hot and quite under seasoned. We'd asked for the main (the sardegna pizza) to be called away once the entree was cleared, so we didn't end up with a cold, soggy pizza. Two thirds through the entree the pizza is brought over. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the waiter I'd originally spoken with who apologised and wandered off. The pizza was warm, bland and soggy. We struggled through, taking the tomato slices off to remove the core ourselves and slicing the hard artichoke hearts thinner to make them edible.
Throughout our brief time there we had four different wait staff at our table. Not a very organised place, and it may be that the pizza oven just wasn't at the right temperature yet, or maybe a new guy on the station, but it's one of the worst 'proper' pizzas I've had in a long long time.
Really disappointed, won't be back.
Pros: A good vegan selection for each course, Reasonably priced for a waterfront restaurant
Cons: Disjointed service, not dedicated wait staff, Food requires better preparation/finishing, Poor comms between wait staff and kitchen

Great options for vegans - Edit
We really appreciated that this restaurant had a separate vegan menu -- it's rare to see that at an Italian restaurant. The food tasted really good -- we ordered a puttanesca pizza and stuffed olives. The olives were a small portion for the price, but something we're glad we tried. Food came out really quick too.

Vegan menu - warm food - Edit
I’m one of those people that loves hot pizza. They were serving a table of 6 people so maybe that was why food was not hot. My entrée was similar. This was an ok experience, nice location, good company and they had chilli oil.

Best vegan pizza ever - Edit
I’ve been to Vitalia’s twice! Before and after joining the vegan community! My expectations this time were lower as I thought it couldn’t be as good as before BUT I was wrong! The Mushroom Pizza called Umbria was a “cheese” based one and, I just say, I never had such an amazing vegan cheese before! The calzone fritto (Fried Calzone) with the eggplant was also very balanced and full of flavors! I’ll definitely be back and recommend it to everyone

Really nice place. Enjoyed our meal. Shared a pizza and pasta dish with my partner as well as the Garlic focaccia. Everything was quality and tasted great. Hardest part was deciding what to order! Would come back again.

Delicious Italian food - Edit
This place has quite a large separate vegan menu with multiple starters, pizzas, pastas, risottos, and gnocchi dishes.
Read moreI had the Campania pizza which was delicious, and my partner had the gnocchi barbabietole. We could taste that the gnocchi was cooked with coconut cream which my partner wasn't a huge fan of, but i thought it was also quite tasty. The mango sorbet was also very nice.
The only downside is it is a little expensive, but we were on vacation so it didn't bother us much.
Very happy about the number of vegan options available and would definitely go back if I find myself in Cairns again.
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Veey tasty food
Cons: A bit expensive

The vegan menu here is as large as the menu at any Omni restaurant, and obviously way better. Their vegan pizzas are all great, using just toppings, tomato and hand made dough.
