It was far better but - Edit
The Great selection of vegan food has been massively reduced lately so it's now a basic burger or pizza.
Read moreThe food is ok but nowhere as good as before. Other local pubs have improved the choices and it good to see our friends spending their cruelty free ££ locally
Pros: A few vegan options , Marked as vegan on the menu
Cons: A reduced vegan menu

It's all changed - Edit
This was such an amazing place for vegans but a change of management has seen the amazing staff go and many of the vegan options have gone.
Read moreDuring the week we now only have pizza & burgers. Last time we checked the amazing Beetroot Wellington was still available on Sunday.
The current staff are not as clued upon vegan food with complaints the real fish was served instead of vegan fish.
It's such a shame to see such changes when the vegan food was so amazing.
Pros: Beetroot Wellington worth a try
Cons: Reduced range of vegan options, Staff making mistakes, The attitude of the management to vegans

The Royal Treatment - Edit
Finally got the chance to visit after adding the listing to HC ages ago and it certainly didn't disappoint. We ordered the vegan fish and chips and pizza vegetarian plus a kids meal (£1 during half term). The banana blossom fish was cooked perfectly with a delicious batter and just the right amount of nori seaweed. The chips were also superb, while the mushy peas and tartar sauce were extremely flavoursome. The portion size was generous too, not that I was complaining! The pizza was also delicious and had a perfect crust and base, a generous array of fresh toppings and a delightful melty cheese. Staff were friendly and even accommodated our four year old by swapping the meat option of the kids meal with a vegan fish (generous portion size again that ended up with more for me!). All in all, great food and such good value.

Good food - Edit
Really enjoyed our food here. The pub is nicely decorated and has a quiet outdoor area. Staff were friendly and pleasant, and dogs are allowed, too.

Nice - Edit
Agree with other reviewer that the renovation is pleasant. Enjoyed our meal of burger and banana blossom fish and chips. The highlight was the minted pea puree. The triple cooked chips seemed overdone but maybe they are supposed to be like that. Agree that the portions are big. Had to wait a bit before deciding to have pudding and that was massive too! Menu also included pizza, hot dog on the specials board, stuffed aubergine and 2 lighter bite dishes as well as flatbreads etc.
Read moreUpdate Feb 2022: we were here on the last day but one of the chef. New managers are taking over. Our food was lovely and we appreciated as well the phone charger on the guinness pump. Recommend to check out their website or Facebook page in future to see future vegan choices, hopefully it will stay good as the pub are aware of their good reputation amongst us!

Vegan Sunday lunch. - Edit
Visited last Sunday completely forgetting it would be sunday lunches, there was a vegan lunch on the menu featuring a chestnut lentil loaf, i cant stand chestnut so i asked if i could have the vegan dinner without it, they offered to swap it out for a vegan stake and ale pie for me. It was very kind of them to do that and tbe pie was lovely, wonderful and accomodating staff. Will definitely return to try the everyday menu!

More options than a lot of vegan/veggie restaurants. - Edit
Really nice food, pretty much anything on the menu is available as a vegan option. Perfect place if both everyone going is veggie/vegan or if some of the group aren't.

Outstanding Vegan options in an omni pub - Edit
Brilliant vegan and veggie options hidden among omni dishes at this great gastropub. Seven of us enjoyed vegan/veggie starters, mains and desserts. Perfect pizza's, juicy burgers, vegan 'fish' and hand cut chips, nachos to die for and a great selection of puds. Huge portions, and at least 50% of the menu was vegan or able to be veganised. Nice decor and toilets. Passionate chef and very helpful staff. Popular with locals and this place is going to get very much busier when word gets round so book a table to avoid disappointment. Closed Monday & Tuesday.
