One of the most spectacular meals I’ve ever had - Edit
Just after we came to St. Louis, my husband made reservations for our whole family on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. You have to call ahead to get a vegan tasting menu, but the call, and the expense, were well worth it.

Wonderful Fine Dining Experience - Edit
I finally tried Vicia, and am very glad I did. I had been a little hesitant given the high cost ($100/person including gratituity, not including drinks). and that it was not a vegetarian restaurant, and that I wouldn't know in advance what I would be getting. But, as long as you know what to expect and think that is your thing, then it's pretty fabulous.
Read moreFirst, let them know when making the reservation you are vegan. I'm not sure how much notice they need, as our reservations were made a month in advance. I was with a mixed group of vegans (I was the only vegan), vegetarians, and meat-eaters. The vast majority of the dishes were suitable for all, but in the few cases where there something was vegan and not vegetarian, I was given my own slightly modified version (i.e. a rich pesto was provided instead of butter for the bread. I was given my own small potato dish that used something in place of butter, I had a kohlrabi taco without yogurt, and my dessert was topped with some sort of vegan choc. ice cream rather than what my friends were served. The dishes were mostly meant to be passed around and shared. In addition to the dishes already named, there were oyster mushrooms, grilled and glazed kohlrabi, charred broccoli, a soup with sunchokes, carmelized beets, salad, veggies with pesto, salad, and almost surely some other things I am forgetting. The meat eaters had one plate of meat, everything else was vegetarian. The service was great and while you only got a small portion of most dishes, there was more than enough food. My only complaint is there was no vegetarian protein. I really wish they would incorporate at least a lentil or bean dish, but all the vegetables were very good. They also have a nice cocktail menu.
This is not a place I would eat at frequently, but I am hoping to go back for a special occasion, and very glad I got a chance to try it.
Pros: Delicious, vegetable forward good, Very accommodating to vegans, Good Cocktails
Cons: No vegan protein with the meal

Expensive high end dinner - Edit
I had the farmer’s feast - which is a slightly smaller tasting menu. I booked in advance and they were able to accommodate a full vegan menu. The father’s feast was expensive but SO much food and an incredible variety. I’m so glad I went this route as the menu was limited for vegan items. It’s expensive but a great option for high end vegan dining in St. Louis.
