If you are actually Plant-Based, don’t waste your time here. - Edit
Drove up to Kennett as a friend sent link to a new Plant-based Café, excited to try a new Vegan lunch spot. Located in a food court setting, everything looked promising from a distance. Upon closer inspection, we saw a few ‘includes dairy’ items on the menu board, and one that even said ‘chicken.’ Some Vegan spots just say chicken, when in fact it may be seitan or another plant-based ‘chicken.’ That was not the case here.
Read moreWhen we walked around to see the containers of food (it’s like a Chipotle or Saladworks with a bunch of small containers that you choose items from) not only was their actual chicken, but bacon as well. No separate areas, just bacon resting up against a plant-based item. This is how you get cross contamination. Do they change gloves? Do they have separate utensils? Their response was that they want ‘to include everyone’ so they have meat… not sure if they realize, but that is not plant-based. That is not even vegetarian. So why do they have Plant-based in their name? They didn’t even have inventive proteins. No tempe, no seitan, just tofu. As horrible as Chipotle or Panera are, they at least have more plant-based options than this ‘plant-based’ café.
Avoid this if you are Vegan and have concerns about cross contamination.
This isn’t a plant-based café, this is just another grab-and-go that has tofu.
Pros: They have Tofu., They also have salad veg, Gluten free noodles
Cons: Meat and meatless stored right next to each other, Cross Contamination risk , They are not 'Plant-based' at all.
