What a surprise - Edit
This underground restaurant is amazingly decorated and the staff is incredibly friendly. Not only was the food absolutely delicious but the chef came to us and served us an appetizer, just like in the finest restaurants. I recommend taking the risotto, you won‘t regret it.

Ordered a cake and a smoothie and both just didn’t taste good. I brought the smoothie and cake to my friends and neither did they - but the place on its own looks very cute and the waitress was really friendly

Wonderful Dinner Experience - Edit
The recently refurbished restaurant is in a buzzing area of Basel and offers indoor and outdoor seating. We had a tapas platter for two as a starter and the ravioli and „Zürcher Geschnetzeltes“ for mains. The food was flavourful, and portions were standard size. Although we wanted to try dessert, we were full after our two courses. The restaurant is pup-friendly, and the staff are very friendly.

They deserve a second chance! - Edit
Verde reopened at a new location and they put a lot of effort into the design and concept of the restaurant. The new space is much bigger and nicely decorated, which makes you feel more comfortable than at the old location. I went to the opening and they did not open everything yet, but they will also have a cocktail bar soon. Regarding the food options the choice is rather small and unfortunately the dishes are still very bland due to a lack of spices. We had the tapas plate as appetizers, nice selection of different small dishes like couscous salad, vegan egg salad and vegan cheese, still, almost no flavour. Also my burger was good regarding texture and presentation but could use some more spices. My brother had the BBQ ragout, which did not taste like BBQ at all, it wasn´t bad though. I liked my cheesecake, can´t do anything wrong with raw vegans cakes, the panna cotta on the other hand was way too liquid. Anyway, the cook and the service were really willing and attentive and appreciated our feedback. They absolutely deserve a second chance as the only vegan restaurant in Basel and I believe that they have a lot of potential.

I see this restaurant is closed until further notice according to their facebook page. I was there during their last few days of operation it seems, and the experience was not a pleasant one. The food was good in the end, but we waited for a very long time until we got it, there was no real apology for that and the waitress was rather unfriendly. The other staff (the young server and what I believe was the owner) were really friendly and helpful, but it was obvious that something is wrong in this establishment, the ambiente was strange and everything seemed disorganized to us. I always hate to rate a vegan place badly, so I sincerely hope things will improve and the restaurant will re-open with a new philosophy and improved service, I would give this one another try in that case.

The restaurant has a small changing menu so in the three times we visited we had a chance to try many things. I recommend focusing on the swiss style dishes which are amazing. Also oener is very friendly and cares about the enjoyment of the costumers

Bad food and strange ambience - Edit
Would give one star if I could. This was the worst vegan place I've visited (out of probably 50 or so locations). The food was mush served from cold plates with no nuances in textures or flavours. I always finish my plate but here I couldn't do it. The staff was nice but the service was strange, probably because we were the only customers, and the restaurant was decorated with something that looked like handicrafts from primary school. Even the cutlery was weird, from knives that didn't cut to telescope forks (seriously). It makes me sad as this seems to be the only all vegan place in Basel but I'd say just go to lily's or titbits if you want nice vegan food
