The food is great and the soft-serve is a must. Right next to Maruyama-koen station exit 2.

Awesome vegan miso ramen!

We found this incredible plant-based gem close to the Hokkaido Shrine and park. So many great menu options to choose from. We left filling extremely satisfied but overly full. We simply ate way too much. But everything was delicious!!! When in Hokkaido, you have to try the miso ramen. The Veggy Way miso ramen is the absolute best ramen I have tried in Japan. So rich and flavorful! The noodles and veggies are perfectly prepared and balanced. My husband got the teriyaki burger. We also had to try the Hokkaido fried chicken (soy protein). Everything was so good. We topped the meal off with a soft serve Sundae made with soy milk and covered with chocolate sauce and crisp almond bits. I ordered the vegan butter sand - yuzu and raspberry. Pay heed - these are not small portions. We have learned to order several dishes since most dishes are much smaller. Not so here!! These portions are much larger. Several things are gluten free, including the rice buns and vegan butter sands. And their lemonade and ginger ale are really good, too. If you’re in the area, you don’t want to miss this place. It’s definitely worth the trip!

Pros: Everything is vegan!, Delicious menu options, Fresh and flavorful food

Tasty ramen and fun desserts

My partner and I both had the shio ramen and really enjoyed it. The broth was very tasty, it was quite salty (as expected) and had a good peppery kick to it too. The toppings were generally fine, some cress and bamboo chunks with a meaty piece on the top. This was quite good, it had a nice texture and coating but tasted a bit too sweet. The noodles were plentiful and tasty - I'm also not sure that I'm much of a noodle connoisseur.

We also got a plate of chicken kaarage to share. These had a good texture both inside and out but they lacked a bit of seasoning. They also tasted just a little bit sweet. They were fine but we've had better.

For dessert, my eye was drawn to the vegan butter sand. This was essentially an ice cream sandwich, I chose a chocolate biscuit with a raspberry filling. It was pleasant, it felt like it was a bit richer than just a regular ice cream in the filling. My partner went for the banana chocolate parfait. This had lots of soft serve, chocolate sauce, bananas and almonds, as well as some cornflakes in the middle. It was delicious, she'd never really had anything like this before so it was quite the treat. She especially enjoyed the texture from the cornflakes.

For drinks, I got a strawberry amazake. This fermented drink is usually alcoholic but it wasn't here. It reminded me a little bit of lassi, it was sweet but with a slight savouriness to it. It did have a slightly grainy texture and the strawberry was bits of jam so that was a bit of an odd thing to drink. I enjoyed it overall and was happy to have something a bit different. My partner had the ginger lemonade, it was very gingery and a good refreshing drink.

We got a couple of muffins to takeaway for breakfast the next day. I had a chocolate muffin. It was hearty and well flavoured, it was just a bit dry but I really enjoyed it. The banana muffin was also good, it was moister than the chocolate one and had a good banana flavour without tasting of horrible artificial banana flavouring.

Nice place!

Loved the atmosphere and the restaurant in general- they offer various sweets, also as takeout or gift.
My brother had the “meat” with brown rice and I had the miso ramen- both was very good, only the miso tasted a bit too much of sesame for my taste (to be fair I think the broth is mostly sesame-based to make it kinda milky like miso or tonkotsu).
All in all worth a visit, especially since it’s so close to the park.

Pros: interior design, sweets

Tasty vegan options

Exclusively vegan cafe, a rare find in Japan! The miso ramen was delicious, I wasn't too fond of the fake meat but that may just have been my taste.

All vegan and tasty

Vegan food gem! Options included a few ramen dishes, and a teriyaki "meat" burger or a bowl. We had teriyaki bowls, which were tasty and filling, as well as fried "chicken". I also got a soy soft serve for dessert, because why not! All lovely.

Ad dthis to your to-do list!

On our way back from the Olympic museum, waiting for the train I realised (browsing Happy Cow) that Veggy Way was next to the station. We ordered Teriyaki and soft ice cream and OMG that was so good. Totally recommend!! Small place, and, by the looks, mostly tourists - but fully vegan and very nice staff.

Pros: Fully vegan, Teriyaki, Soft ice

Vegan Chashu?!?

The chashu is so amazing you might think it was real. My non-vegan friend said the salt ramen was the best he ever tasted. Period!

Worth the trip

It is JUST outside of the station and completely worth the trip. I wish I had time to try more of the menu, but the miso ramen was excellent. I was very happy to try soft cream in Sapporo that was completely vegan, and also loved that they had amazake. It was my first time trying amazake iced and I had it with strawberry added. In the future I think I would try it plain. Everything was so good!

Must Try!

If I were to move to Sapporo I would be sure to move within walking distance of this wonderful little cafe.

I had the miso ramen and a choco banana parfait. The ramen was, hands down, the best ramen I've ever had. Awesome miso, great mix of vegetables, and the soy meat was truly unique. It isn't mushroom, as some have commented here, definitely soy. This 'fried chicken' had such a delicate texture and realistic 'parts' that I actually took the first bite out of my mouth to double check I was in the right place! It isn't too salty and it has both these fatty, savory parts mixed with the more tender and crunchier texture. Also, they use a particular line of brown rice that is partially fermented (if I understand correctly), just a beautiful touch, so be sure to get a cup of rice to finish off the ramen at the bottom.

This would be an excellent place to bring a non vegan, that is for sure. They also have a burger with the soy meat stuff. I plan to try one of the 'chef's set' for lunch next time.

Don't leave without getting a parfait, great way to finish it off! Lots of soy soft serve, chocolate, bananas, corn flakes, and a few nuts. I'm sure the strawberry parfait is an excellent choice when it is the season.

All vegan shop with delicious food and sweets

My husband and I visited Hokkaido back in July. It took me a while to get around to writing all the reviews on Happy Cow because we stayed for a week and visited many shops while we were there! This was one of my husband's favorite shops. He got the ramen and I had the burger. The food was good, and quite voluminous. I was especially impressed by their desserts. We got a piece of cake and an affogato (soy ice cream with coffee). Good location and lots of things to choose from on the menu!

Pros: All vegan, many choices, delicious sweets, good location

Nice place with good options

I had the teriyaki 'beef' and it was certainly filling. The monthly menu looked good too, though the juice was a bit bland for our taste.

Pros: Teriyaki

Super filling ramen

I got the miso ramen, which was so incredibly delicious and filling. I think the vegan meat was made out of mushrooms. It tasted so good, I could almost eat an entire plate just of that.

There’s not many vegan places in Sapporo, so I was very happy finding this place!

Staff was really nice.

Best vegan meat

Love their vegan meat on their ramen and rice bowls! It's super juicy and alone a good reason to visit this restaurant.
Their cold ramen is great for hot summer days, just like the vegan soft ice! You certainly have to give it a try if you are in the area.
