Only vegan place in Cheltenham! - Edit
Very chatty server. Not all food was available from the menu. Tad pricey. Great flavour in all meals. Amazing baklava, would go back just for that!

Ok - Edit
Really wanted to love this place but sadly it didn’t meet expectations. The owner talked me out of what I wanted to order because I “could get that anywhere” and I ended up being pressured into ordering something I didn’t really enjoy. There was a lot of upselling and we didn’t get to see the receipt but it ended up being a very slow and expensive lunch. I’ve also ended up with an upset stomach!
Read moreOn a more positive note, the portions were a good size, the menu has a lot of choice and the hummus was lovely.

Massive portions and friendly staff - Edit
Let the staff pick our meal for us, and it was really delicious. A lovely way of trying things we wouldn't necessarily eat otherwise. Food portions were massive, and the food was lovely. Would definitely go back again.

I can't believe this is cheltenhams only vegan!? - Edit
The food was good, although the platter for two was miserly and would really only feed one person.
Read moreThe wraps did look good and substantial. Also really quite expensive, four of us ate lunch and it was £80!!!
However what let's this down the most, and means I can never recommend was the speed of the service. It was so slow! Nearly two hours to have lunch. Really really ridiculous.
Cons: Extremely slow service, Highly priced, Inconsistent portion sizes.

Friendly enthusiastic service, good but pricey food. - Edit
We got an incredibly enthusiastic welcome.
Read moreThe menu had lots of great options on it. We ordered the mezze platter to share. I enjoyed the flavour of each dish especially the Baba ganoush. Three of us were eating. Our friend ordered the black risotto which was full of flavour. The owner generously gave a very large of portion of risotto which was very generous but too much for our friends appetite.
I thoroughly enjoyed the food but found the portion size of the mezze platter small for £22. We ordered a side salad and were automatically given the large side salad at £7. Again the side salad was full of flavour not your typical side salad but I found it quite pricey and should be included in the price of the platter to be of value.
After we enjoyed tasty baklava and coffee. It was fantastic it find vegan baklava somewhere.

Great service and nice food. It’s nice to be able to look at a menu and not have to worry about what I can or can’t eat.

Very tasty and fresh menu - Edit
Really tasty and fresh food and drinks. Some food options you don't often see elsewhere. Owner is very attentive and friendly, I can see how that might be interpreted as overbearing as other reviews mention but we didn't find it that way. Definitely worth a visit.

Overbearing staff, expensive but also ok - Edit
Passing through Cheltenham and wanted to support a vegan place. We had an hour on our parking and thought, for a light lunch, we’d be fine. Had to extend our parking before we’d even received our food. The waiter was overbearing, trying to upsell a lot, talked me out of ordering what I wanted because the “day was too hot” (wished after I had stuck to my own choice), made some comments about my girlfriend’s appearance (positive ones but unnecessary) and added some kind of service charge without us seeing the receipt. Wouldn’t go again even though food was decent.

As the only vegan place in town, we had to give it a visit on a drive through. Okra Stew was generous portion and tasty, Seitan Steak was alright. Not bad but not amazing either.

Delicious vegan food :) - Edit
The food here was sooo good. Two non-vegan friends joined me and we all cleared our plates despite the large portions - the food was just gorgeous. Highlights were the baba ganoush, ‘chickn’ tagine, moussaka and baklava.

Underwhelming - Edit
Please beware, we found our food to be lacking in flavour and pretty expensive. A service charge of 12.5% was also added to the bill, this was not made clear at the outset. The owner was quite pushy and he made us both feel a little uncomfortable with his manner. All in all a bit of shame as there are very few vegan outlets in Cheltenham to choose from. Unfortunately we will not be going back.

Cons: Overbearing & pushy owner, Bland food , Expensive

Thanks for your feedback, menu clearly states that there is a service charge and we are so very sorry that you have been made feel uncomfortable by our otherwise charming owner. It’s nice to hear sometimes that the food is blend as the amount of positive comments on the flavour of the food and how tasty it is, can be overwhelming for us. Just to clarify, we are the ONLY fully vegan outlet in Cheltenham, and a great loss not having you back again. Ps. There is really cheap vegan menu available in McDonalds.

Excellent choice of Mediterranean food . Had Padron peppers and broad bean/‘chorizo’ for starters and seitan-based kebabs with salad, hummus and seasoned fries. Plenty of food and great quality. Owner was very chatty, friendly and informative. We will definitely be returning.

Creepy aggressive owner and lacking in flavour - Edit
The owner: Despite how this place is fully vegan, the owner is a serious creep, sitting outside the closed shop between 2300-0100 heckling women on the street and asking them to come into his shop and ‘don’t be scared’. He’s very pushy, and can’t take no for an answer on an upsell. I’ve seen him successfully get drunk women into the shop before too. It’s deeply unsettling. He needs to understand how to respect women (especially when young, solo, on their way home at night, and drunk), be less pushy, and focus on improving his food.
Read moreIn addition, a non-vegan coworker decided to give this place a try whilst working from home. After the food took 2 hours and the owner repeatedly said it’d be there soon, he then confessed that he hadn’t started the order. My coworker then got a refund through the delivery company. Another 2 hours later, the owner of Vegetus arrived at his house after a 20 minute drive, shouting outside their door. They rejected the food since it was 4 hours late, and after he threw it in front of their house, they threatened to call the police so he left.
Overall a massive red flag.
The food:
I’ve eaten here 5 times, and reliably been underwhelmed. All the food is lacking seasoning and spices, and is excessively expensive for what it is. I keep hoping that I’m mistaken and to give it another go but it always disappoints - I won’t be giving it another try after what I’ve seen from the owner.
The tofish is simply a block of tofu, cut in half length ways and put in a turmeric gluten free batter (seemingly without salt or pepper). It’s served with oven chips. At least scoring it, or adding nori to one side would improve it, not to mention seasoning. My partner felt like it was wrong and vomited 30 minutes after eating it.
The falafel are lacking in herbs, in both flavour and appearance (not fresh green). Both houmous and tahini are lacking in flavour too. No chilli sauce available and salad lacking in red onion. Basic salad on offer, without added herbs or even seemingly dressing.
The ‘kebab’ is unseasoned tough seitan. The bought-in rather than freshly made kind. Even frozen grated tofu in a basic shawarma seasoning would be a huge upgrade.
The cakes are very tasty and do deserve merit.
Overall despite living next door and being vegan, myself and my partner are avoiding this place for life.
Pros: Cakes
Cons: Owner, Tofish, Kebab

British food with an orientalien taste - Edit
On our way up North we headed to this place just for some snacks. But at the end we had the royal breakfast, the tofish and the pancakes and we are not regretting it! the taste of every item from the breakfast plate was delicious, with a little taste of maroccan spicies.you could call it "fusion kitchen" 😅
Read moreNote, that dogs are not allowed to get in,but there were two tables outside. Also it took some time to be served, but it was worth waiting for.
But at the end we were a bit surprised about the price as we got no bill. Afterwards we've read in other reviews that they seem to have a service charge of 10%,what explains the amount maybe. But the fact it took a bit too long doesn't really justify a charge.. should also be written somewhere so you know about it before - so one star less for that.
