A fantastic day

Full disclosure: I work at the Vegetarian Society.

I am, however, completely honest when I say I had such a great day doing the 'vegan toolkit' course.

My day saw me learning key knife skills (you'll never cut an onion the same again!), getting stuck in to making pasta (the machines are great fun), having a go at quick toolkit additions that will stay in your repetoire forever, and culminated in making a showstopper main (my old paella recipe has been quickly scrapped after the one I learned to make on the course - so tasty!).

The course has a really nice mix of working on the same recipes as everyone else (such as the pasta) and working on different dishes (such as the mains where you get to choose from a delicious line-up of recipes). You get to see everyone making different things, getting little tastes as you go on. Then it all ends with you all presenting your end-product to create a stunning buffet. It means there's a wonderful hive of activity, and all sorts of sights and smells right around the kitchen.

Everyone on the course was so nice, and Alex built such a great atmosphere throughout the day. He's really patient and encouraging, so all abilities can feel at ease.
