My boyfriend and I both had the BTL and we couldn’t stop saying how delicious it was. Hands down the best facon we’ve had!

Don't waste your time - Edit
We were visiting the area in August 2022, and Végetalien is both one of the few vegan restaurants, and the menu (per the website) also looks amazing. We checked Google, Happy Cow and their own website for the hours before driving 50 mins to the restaurant. When we got there, it had visibly already been closed for a while — there was no explanation, nothing.
Read moreI think this is the kind of carelessness that is easy to avoid. I understand, especially with everything going on, that it might make sense for a young vegan business to curtail hours. But wow, not even a perfunctory message on their website warning to call or something. No message on their door about early closing, or even an apology (unlike Kitchen Café nearby that *does* apologize and will not get a 2-star review).
Very pissed off!
If you are already in Beacon, then we suggest you try Ziatun, an excellent mediterranean restaurant with strong vegan options — or if it is open, Kitchen Café looked like a nice option.
If you are just in the area, then we STRONGLY urge you to go visit Root 2 Rise NYC, an absolutely amazing vegan eatery with predictable opening times, and a staff that cares.

Cons: closes early, does not communicate well

I understand your frustration, but many restaurant owners are not technically skilled, and having paid someone to create a web site, they may not know how to edit it. (If they went with an outfit that doesn't employ good software developers, it may not be easy to edit the web site without breaking it.) HappyCow listings are typically maintained by HappyCow users and not by the restaurant owners (who may not even know about HappyCow). I always call a restaurant before going to make sure they're open, and I update the HappyCow page if the hours have changed. You can help other vegans, and collect HappyCow points, by doing so.

Highly impressed - Edit
Two of us split three sandwiches. All delicious. I do wish they came with sides, but that’s the only minor complaint — sandwich alone may be a bit small for a lunch. 10/10 on the cubano, 9.5/10 on the chickpea tunah wrap, 8/10 on the mushroom sandwich. Will eat here anytime I’m in town. And the ice cream is in the same building!

Tiny but yummy - Edit
This place is really small but my food was delicious. It was very generous too. I tried nice cream made on premises (mint chocolate chip) and it was divine.

Great Vegan restaurant - Edit
They make their own Facon for their BLT sandwiches (that’s fake bacon) and it’s crunchy! Their tofu is super yummy and I love their juices and smoothies. Plus they have another vendor sharing the space with them that makes vegan ice cream in house! It’s all delish!

Great place!! Food is yummy. - Edit
My favorite thing on the menu is the chickpea tunah! Soooo good. I just wish they had a better range of hours, there’s not many places to get a decent vegan breakfast around Beacon, this place I feel would do great with it. Especially since they offer juices and such.

Moldy bread - Edit
I can’t even tell you how disappointing this place was. They were out of most things we were interested in. The food was like vegan food from 1994: basic, bland, boring. Then we discovered the mold on our bread. A big old chunk of green mold. The people working there were completely indifferent and kinda just shrugged. There are so many veggie friendly places in Beacon, why go here?
Read moreI ordered the BLT with avocado. It was fine.
My partner order the Jackfruit sandwich. It was meh.
We also ordered the hummus sandwich. It was fine.

Awesome Food! - Edit
This place is great! They have healthy Vegan options and they make their own facon (think fake bacon) for their BLT sandwiches out of rice paper! They also have fresh smoothies and juices made to order.

Delicious food - Edit
I was here years ago and the food was delicious but service was awful. There were two women working in there that were very rude, not attentive to customers. I hope they are gone now. Visiting the area again soon so I hope to get better service.

AMAZING sandwich - Edit
Caprese sandwich that I got here was BIG BANG, better than non vegan ones I’ve had in Italy. Plenty of pesto, the bread was perfect, mushrooms were well seasoned. I had some soup of the day on the side (lentil Dahl) which really didn’t compare, next time I’ll just get a sandwich or maybe try a bowl.

My 10-year-old daughter had avocado toast with hummus and really liked it. We both had smoothies and I had their pulled “pork” sandwich. Not very expensive and very tasty. I would definitely recommend.

Friendly staff and great location - Edit
I was searching for a vegan spot on my way back to NYC from Milton after applepicking. This was the first vegan restaurant that was still open heading south. Stopped in. They had just closed but were friendly enough to take my order after I told them I travelled a half hour. I had the sauteed mushrooms sandwich with spinach which was excellent and they even threw in a gluten free cookie with chocolate chips and nuts. Recommend!

It’s Fine - Edit
I’d imagine this place is better to get a smoothie or a juice to take to walk around Beacon. We had the BLT which we would NOT recommend. The rice paper bacon was so sharp and relatively tasteless. The “Tun-ah” wrap was actually pretty good but nothing special. I also got a pretty big Kombucha for us to share that turned out to be $25 so definitely ask for prices before you buy something!

Delicious fully Vegan restaurant with salads, sandwiches, wraps, bowls, smoothies and dessert pastries & cookies. Since going vegan I’ve really missed a good ol’ tuna fish sandwich, and this chickpea “tuna” wrap really hit the spot 🥪🙌🏽

Végétalien is one of the tastiest vegan restaurants I’ve ever been to. The focus is on lunch foods—sandwiches, soups, Buddha bowls. My favorite is the BLT—amazing homemade bread, crispy-smoky vegan bacon, & delicious sauce—but I’ve never once been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered. The juices are also refreshing and lovely, especially the ginger lemonade. Moses, the chef, brings the same kind care he gives the people who eat here to the food itself. It makes a real difference. Sit in the window for great views of Beacon Mountain.

Road trip stop surprise - Edit
Really enjoyed Beacon and this little lunch spot. Delicious bowls, a little expensive if you want to throw on additions, wish there was a way to "prorate" it, cause it can get a little pricey at $3 an add on. Loved my BLT. The smoothie was ok. Really thin. Maybe I would just request it thick if we were to ever swing through again.
