Amazing vegan food - Edit
The best vegan restaurant we tried in Japan. We tried almost the whole menu and paid ¥6450 for 2 people including drinks (non-alcoholic wine).
Read moreThe food looks great and tastes even better. There are also quite a few things to try we haven't found anywhere else. If you like to try new things this is the place to go.
We both didn't like the non-alcoholic red wine very much, but the non-alcoholic white wine was nice.
We went there shortly before 18:00 to secure one of the 7 seats. When we left a little less than an hour later, there was already a queue of 4 people. So be early!
Pros: Wide variety of food to try, Nice and friendly staff
Cons: Only 7 seats, be early or you have to wait

Super cute, great food - Edit
Tiny little place serving great freshly made vegan food. The pickled vegetables were delicious. Our 13yo loved the torched onigiri & grilled soy protein. Portions are fairly small. Worth ordering extra. Organic wine was yum.

Yummy! - Edit
The food was delicious! It is two women making the food right in front of you and they are lovely. The portions are small but very yummy.

Lovely Vegan Spot - Edit
The food was great and I was confident everything was Vegan. The owner spoke great English and explained the dishes to us. The best food I’ve had in Japan so far. I would recommend the skewers, the soy dumplings and fake meat.

Worth getting in early for! - Edit
There's only 6 or so seats available, but that's part of the charm! We arrived early to ensure we'd get a seat, and the staff kindly let us in early so we could get out of the cold. Their service was very friendly, and food was served quite quickly.

Must-try! Excellent food, intimate experience, farm-to-table - Edit
Even in Kyoto, a place with an abundance of great plant-based food, Nijiya stands out as exceptional. As others here have reported, the food and service are both very special.
Read moreBeing a six-seat izakaya, intimacy is built into the experience: you're essentially sharing a table with the cooks and the guests. And, in this case, that's a big plus, because the cooks are so warm, friendly, and gracious. (Some English is spoken.)
The traditional way to enjoy an Izakaya (which is recommendable here) is to start with subtler dishes like the gyoza (dumplings) and the obanzai sets, and then move to the richer flavors and textures (such as the yakitori, which is phenomenally good here), and finally fill up with one or more of the rice dishes (here, various preparations of chazuke are the specialty). If you have an appetite, you'll need to order several dishes, and one usually orders them gradually rather than all at once. It seems common for guests here to wind up trying at least half of the menu in one sitting, which is a rewarding experience.
Highly recommended. Enjoy!

One of the best meals I've had in Japan! - Edit
Our dining experience at Nijiya by Vegan Farm stood out as a highlight of our trip! The restaurant can only accommodate six guests at a time, making our visit extra special. Watching the chef carefully prepare each dish added an intimate touch to the meal. I absolutely enjoyed every bite, with the vegan yakitori and yakiniku being personal favorites. The yakitori was so yummy that we couldn’t resist ordering a second serving!

Tiny and great - Edit
We got in and squished ourselves into the tiny corner seats. We ordered many dishes and it took a little while to fill up but it was a wonderful and cozy place experience with great staff and a taste of traditional Japan. The staff served sake in a masu cup and poured over, so I was grateful.

The food was really amazing and extraordinary delicious meals which are real Japanese dishes (I guess). However it was hard for me to get enough food to get satisfied. I would recommend it for a perfect snack but not enough if you are really hungry
