Vegan Eats Keeping it Lit in Oakland

Bummed I had a short break so I couldn’t wait in line, looking forward to trying them soon! Rating to be updated.

Pros: Fully Vegan/Plant-Based, Emphasis on Plant-Forward Eating, Honoring Heritage Through Cultural Foods

Cons: Long Lines (Pro/Con) Means Tasty Food

Great food truck

I ate here with someone who isn't vegan, and they said the lamb sliders taste exactly like lamb. The poke nachos had great house fried wonton chips. The service was great, and the food was ready quicker than expected!

Unbelievably good

They started popping up at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Thursdays from 10a-2p with a brunch menu alongside their normal offerings. The fried egg on several brunch items is yuba-based. I loved how everything was seasoned on the Brunch Soul Bowl, and I probably could have eaten another bowl of Cajun Mac. 😋 Service was unbelievably slow, but maybe this will improve in the coming weeks.

I saw an email announcement that they’d be in a food truck competition at Spark Social in Mission Bay in the afternoon, so I made plans to walk an hour and finally try out their food. Unfortunately, they weren’t serving their normal full menu: I really wanted to try their Cajun chick’n sando. But the Kale Yeah!!! was probably one of the best kale salads I’ve ever had. Getting a taste of their fried chicken batter coating some jackfruit was such a pleasure. The vegan feta was unbelievably close to the dairy version. I look forward to whenever I get a chance to enjoy their full menu at another time.

Feeding body and mind

Exceptionally yummy vegan food. Really great flavors. I have enjoyed everything I have tried.

Aside from how awesome the food tastes, I love the way this business and its owners are acting as movers and shakers in the vegan landscape, bringing in such awesome, heart-opening, refreshing changes -- more intersectional consciousness and social justice awareness, a richer community perspective, thought leadership, etc. It's very inspiring to follow these folks and the work they are doing.

Amazing creativity

We’ve been getting their Sunday dinners for about a month now and have loved them. Today was pesto Mac and cheese with jackfruit fried chicken?? What even is that? It was fantastic and has been doing a lot to smooth our entry into the work week.
Order by noon on Saturday for Sunday delivery. You won’t regret it.

Pros: Super creative recipes, always new stuff, Black owned business

Cons: Wide delivery window is a bit hard to plan around
