Incredible - Edit
The best Vegan in Barbados. Healthy, fresh, delicious food. If Vegan Cottage was in New York (where I’m from) I would eat it every week (maybe few times a week).

Delicious, affordable and healthy - Edit
Augustina, the owner, has a passion for vegan food, which you can discern right away. I was late (recommend visiting as close to 11am opening as possible to avoid disappointment), and she cooked me up a meal as I was leaving for the airport the following day. Delicious, healthy and affordable food! It didn't last very long on my table before I wolfed it down😄and the mixed juice drink was the icing on the cake, on a hot day. I definitely recommend visiting here if you are in Barbados. Cash only - there is an ATM just a short walk up Black Rock Main Road. There is the beautiful Batt's rock bay and Paradise Beach just down the road.

Delicious and Nutritious! A true vegan haven. - Edit
Vegan Cottage is an utter delight! As soon as we stepped into this relaxing, quiet haven, Augustina greeted us warmly, asked about dietary allergies, and set about preparing two plates for lunch. With no set menu, it felt like we were at a relative's house, one who puts much love and care into preparing meals for loved ones. We read through the inspiring books Augustina had written about veganism, environmentalism, and self-love until she served us; she explained every element of the thoughtfully crafted and presented meal. We appreciated all the little touches, and the well-balanced lunch also came with a full glass of fresh juice (mango, pineapple, etc) as well as a homemade muffin! While Augustina asked us questions and chatted with us earnestly, she also gave us time to eat and enjoy the meal together. Then her adult daughter arrived and the four of us engaged in more conversation; we had so much fun talking with both of them! They truly felt like our family. We cannot recommend Vegan Cottage enough!

FABulous Food & Hosting❣️ - Edit
I was in Barbados for 10 days and finally was able to make it to Vegan Cottage, one of my major goals on arrival. I was so happy & impressed! The food was delicious and generously portioned with lots of variety! Oftentimes you go to eat at a place for the first time and have difficulty in choosing among from the menu. At Vegan Cottage we get a taste of many things in a home dining experience. And the mixed fruit drinks are amazing!
Read moreJust as nourishing, pleasing and flavorful, is Augustina, the owner, chef and host! She is not only a marvelous cook but also a skilled published writer. Leave with one of her three books or look through and take down the titles for later if interested. But GO! You will definitely thank yourself! And remember to call first to let her know you’re coming. Your fresh and delicious food will be ready when you arrive.
Pros: Everything especially her patties!, Augustina’s warmth, The simple, lovely dining room.

What a little gem - Edit
Amazing food - a fantastic platter of home cooked Caribbean delights, a good price and Augustina the owner is so friendly and so enthusiastic about veganism (we had a good chat about her travels in England attending vegan exhibitions - she has even written books on veganism). Open Monday to Thursday only and we are gutted as it’s Thursday today and we can’t come back before we leave beautiful Barbados!

Take the city or Reggae Bus to Vegan Cottage, Black Rock - Edit
My sister and I enjoyed a nice lunch and discussion with Augustina, the owner of Vegan Cottage. We dined on salad, pasta, breadfruit stew, coleslaw, grain patties, plantain, eggplant, veggie sausage and ground season soya mince. It was a healthy and refreshing meal. The juice of the day was a citrus blend with mango. Don’t skip the juice! We called ahead to make sure there would be good and we were glad we did. You can easily reach the cottage on the city bus headed to Sp’town or Speighstown if you are staying down south in Oistens or the Gap. $30 BBD for the meal and drink

Homemade vegan Carribean food! - Edit
We had somewhat of a difficult time finding vegan options in Barbados as it seems like Google and HappyCow local business listings are infrequently updated. We ended up driving to restaurant after restaurant only to find out that they had been closed for months, or even years.
Read moreThankfully, Vegan Cottage was open and happy to cook a homemade vegan, Carribean lunch for us! The owner was super nice and chatted with us for a couple minutes before bringing out our take-out. Our lunch included a variety of vegan carbs, proteins and veggies! We left satisfied!

Wonderful food & owner - Edit
We weren't sure if this place would be open but we were in luck! Augustina greeted us at the door and quickly made up two plates for us to take to the beach (no indoor seating at the moment). It was such lovely food, great value and it was an honour to talk with Augustina who is a local legend! She gave us her wonderful nutrition book to read while were waiting for the food.

Well-seasoned local food, portion sizes, and service. - Edit
My husband and I stopped at the Vegan Cottage for lunch, and regretted not stopping by earlier during our holiday in Barbados. It was not long after we walked in and seated ourselves that the owner herself, Augustina, warmly greeted us, asked questions regarding our food preferences, and followed up by bringing us each a plate with a surprising variety of local, well-seasoned, vegan food.
Read moreFrom pasta, to homemade patties, lentils, rice, garbanzo beans, couscous, a bit of salad with fruit, and even a plantain, her plates offer a great variety with lots of local-inspired dishes and flavors to try.
Overall, the portion sizes were good, the prices were about 25BBDs a person, which included a muffin for dessert, and a delicious mango fruit drink, and the service and hospitality were excellent.
It was our first time at her Vegan Cottage, but Augustina made us feel like family. Her place is on Google maps, so download the offline Barbados Google map, so next time you're in the area, you can be sure to call in advance, and definitely stop by and see her.
Pros: Excellent customer service, Good value, Great Flavors

Beautiful Bajan vegan lunch! - Edit
I brought my dad to the Vegan Cottage and we both loved it! He's not a vegan and doesn't eat like that at all at home, but I'm vegan and managed to persuade him and the meal couldn't have been better! Augustine is just lovely and so willing to share her knowledge and passion about vegan cooking and her book too! Just an amazing experience. There's no menu so she just brings out a plate of food for you and it's heaven on a plate! Bring your friends, bring your family, bring everyone, they'll all love it!

Charming Atmosphere & Comfort Food - Edit
We got confused about the hours and showed up at around 2:00pm, but Augustina was very gracious and let us in anyway! She was very warm and welcoming, and she kept on trying to figure out who the “good one” in the group was. She prepared us a plate of rice, lentils, corn, eggplant, some sort grain ball, and plantains as well as a nice side salad. She also served us a delicious fresh juice blend and muffins. The food was simple, but delicious nonetheless. It was also fairly priced, about US $15 per person. Augustina kept us entertained with her tales of running a vegan restaurant and beyond. We will definitely check this place out again next we’re in Barbados!

A hidden treasure for vegans and non-vegans alike - Edit
It comes as no surprise whatsoever that Vegan Cottage is now in its 23rd year as one of Barbados' premier vegan restaurants. Proprietor and founder Augustine warmly greeted us at the door (call her in advance to let her know when you'll be arriving) and after checking whether we liked soy or not (we do), brought us plates filled with her fresh vegan home cooking, complemented by fresh-squeezed juice and a homemade vegan muffin for desert.
Read moreWe agreed that the food and atmosphere at Vegan Cottage is at least as good as anything we've experienced in the world's top vegan-friendly cities. Augustine is truly a master vegan chef, coupled with just the loveliest personality! Don't miss this hidden treasure during your visit to Barbados!
Hint: Set your GPS to 13.128138,-59.629225 and look for the small sign by the side of the road. The green painted Vegan Cottage looks like a private home from the outside - just pull in to the driveway and park.

Wonderful Place - Edit
My husband and I really enjoyed Vegan Cottage. We got to-go 2 days in a row. The food was really tasty. As others have said, there is no menu, Augustine brings you out a plate with a little bit of everything. We also got muffins, which were so good. For 2 plates and 2 muffins, she charged BBD$46...definitely a good deal. Both days we were there around 10:30-11am, just as she was opening up. The food is ready quickly, which we appreciated since the second day, we were on our way to the airport. The one review that gave directions was perfect (to take Spring Garden Highway to Black Rock Main Road and then she is about 200 yards down on the right). We will definitely return if we visit Barbados again. -Brian and Vanessa

This is such a warm and welcoming place. When we arrived the owner immediately came over and started talking to us and getting to know us. You don't order from a menu, she just brings you out a plate of food with a variety of items. Each item was delicious. As was her homemade lemonade. As I'm writing this my omni boyfriend is saying that he wishes he could eat that food everyday :-)
