Amazing food!! - Edit
The shop is kind of a hole in the wall, but WOW the food is amazing. We got the munchy box and omg 🔥😍 the servings are huge, definitely get the “meatball” as the flavor and texture are unreal. Seitan can have an odd texture and after taste sometimes but not the seitan here.

Hidden gem for plant-based food enthusiasts! 🌱 I don’t give 5 stars often so this deserved it - Edit
We opened a large pizza box to a vegan feast. And I’m not talking about vegan pizza (Which they do offer) My taste buds are still dancing from the delightful experience we had there. Let me break it down for you:
Read moreWe got the MUNCHY BOX: Imagine a pizza box filled with an abundance of vegan delights. It’s like a treasure chest of flavors! From crispy falafel (the best I have ever had) to two varieties of house made seitan, it’s a feast fit for royalty. And yes, it’s so big that you could feed a small army (or maybe just a very hungry family).
Freshness Galore: Everything at Vegan Community Kitchen is made fresh, not processed.
Whether you’re a seasoned vegan or just curious, you’ll appreciate the quality.
Incredible Service: The staff goes above and beyond. Their warmth and attentiveness make you feel right at home. Plus, they’re knowledgeable about the menu and happy to guide you through the vegan wonderland.
Great Value: The MUNCHY BOX isn’t just a meal; it’s an adventure. Considering the variety and portion size, it’s a steal. You’ll leave with a full belly and a happy heart and lots of leftovers for a second meal later.
Pros: Fresh made not processed, Incredible service, Great value
Cons: It’s 3000 miles from our home

Fantastic Food Clearly Made and Shared with Love - Edit
I had read reviews over the past year and finally made the hour trip to VCK since planning to go to Costco. So excited to discover this gem. We have now been several times, even attending the amazing holiday event in December. EVERYTHING my husband and I have ordered has been exceptionally delicious. The “meat” is THE best we’ve ever had and the veggies are so fresh. The owners are stellar people, always warm, welcoming and friendly, even when it’s so busy!

Went during apex restaurant week and got Mediterranean pita tacos with a side of falafel and pita for $15. Really big portion sizes. The seitan is really tasty.

After years of anticipation, I finally arrived at the American sister location of Istanbul's glorious VCK in suburban North Carolina. Located in a little strip mall off a local arterial this unassuming, impeccably clean and aromatic eatery mirrors the Turkish origin in care and dedication. All food made on site, from

Tiru, the new owner of seven months, has taken over the reigns after the sister of the founder back in Fatih, retired and has added her own Ethiopian menu items. Everything was fresh, light and delicious and I am so grateful to find this restaurant open and thriving!
Sadly, the new owner is not vegan, so I must remove one star for being run by a willful animal abuser. She asked if I was vegan, so I asked in response and she told me, "I love fish." This greatly deleted from my digestive and dining experience unfortunately.
To love non human animals is to protect them from murderers, not hand them money to perpetrate more crimes. Hopefully, she finds the guidance she requires to make some space in her heart for those born with less power than herself, aquatic or otherwise.

Oh wow!! I heard about this when I was in İstanbul and have wanted to go here ever since. Unfortunate that the owner isn't vegan though :/

Yeah and the best item (the spiced seitan shawarma with fresh tomatoes) is off the menu now. I ordered a side of the seitan kabob and it was nothing like the one in Istanbul. Sadly.

This place is a must go with amazing food. I got the crunch wrap with a bean salad and a hibiscus tea. The hibiscus tea was fresh made and it was outstanding. The food was inexpensive, good quality, with lots of options. The owner was working the counter and he is incredibly friendly.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Edit
The pumpkin falafel was really good. I wish I had ordered it as my main instead of a side. The food I ordered was overall decent. I tried surprising my partner with a dinner order but he wouldn’t eat much of it: He didn’t like that the seitan I ordered in a delicious pastry was basically just wheat-on-wheat, from his nutritional perspective. That didn’t bother me so much but I can get where he’s coming from. I love seitan. Seitan is my friend. I can get how it might not be someone’s first choice for a vegan protein though.
Read moreUpdate: The pumpkin falafel is still very good. I tried the new Ethiopian platter and seitan tibs. Everything was good except the yellow peas were inexplicably awful. Just awful. They smelled and tasted like cigarette ash. I wish I were exaggerating. I once took a sip of my sister’s soda before realizing she was using the can as an ashtray so I know what I’m talking about here. My partner couldn’t stop laughing at just how bad they smelled. (He refused to taste the dish after smelling it.) Overall, despite this hiccup, I had a positive impression of the Ethiopian dish—after all, it was just 1 of 6 items—but just the smell of the peas made my partner lose his appetite for the entire meal. I would suggest adding sauce to the seitan tibs… and changing the yellow peas if the ash flavor was the consequence of intentional seasoning choices or firing whoever was lowkey smoking in the kitchen. 😂

Best Vegan Place I have Been To. - Edit
We stopped in and tried several dishes. We tried hummus with pita, cheese burger, spanakopita, Mac Lahmacun Wrap and hibiscus tea. Everything was amazing. I had to order 2 exta pitas to take home with the leftover hummus. And who can leave without baklava. Loved Everything. Worth the hour and a half drive. 👌 will definitely be back.

Attention to Quality and Detail - Edit
Lots of vegan options ranging from American classics to basic Mediterranean foods. I never thought I'd have baklava again as a vegan, so that alone will bring my back. As of now (entering fall 2021), they even have options such as lasagne and holiday falafel (pumpkin). We found the place while searching for burgers, so... not too adventurous the first go 'round.
Read moreTheir house made vegan burgers were quite tasty, but a little too much like a loaf. The flavor was perfect but the texture was a bit odd. Not off putting, but not anything to write home about.
You can tell they used quality ingredients though. They had HUGE slices of perfectly ripened tomatoes on our burgers, and their crinkle fries were still perfectly golden and crisp even after the drive home. The vegan cheese was melted just right and they made sure to have vegan buttered and toasted buns.
They pay great attention to detail and quality, and it's evident in their product. I imagine we'll be back on our next visit to Cary.
