Good vegan fast food - Edit
Great to have a vegan option at a sports stadium. I enjoyed the Vegan City Dog. The chilli on top was great! Would go back.

Not Fully Vegan and overpriced af - Edit
The food isn't fully vegan.
Read moreWhile the staff is nice and there are no lines, the buns aren't fully vegan. I got hella sick after eating there, and it was clear something had animal product in it. After going back and asking the staff, it turns out the buns aren't vegan.
Pros: No lines, Staff is friendly
Cons: The buns aren't vegan, Overpriced to the point of maliciousness

A ballpark miracle - Edit
I can’t think of anything else like this at any stadium. So lucky to have. The hot dog has chili and vegan cheese on it, a pretty good deal for $10.

Psyched for this! - Edit
I was starving by the time I got inside the Dead&Co show this summer and then suddenly this place appeared with a bright light over it! First night I got the slammin nachos; next two, the sausage. Wish I woulda read the reviews about the buns beforehand, but now I’m seeing they might actually be vegan after all? Def double check, as I will next time I’m here.

Appreciate the option but... - Edit
it isn't good. One of the things people say about Citi Field is how amazing the food offerings are, and this might be true but not for vegans.
Read moreVegan City is a single concession stand with standard ball park fare. I read the reviews here on Happy Cow so we stayed away from the jackfruit nachos. With 3 other friends we ordered one of each sandwich: the burger, chili dog, impossible sausage with peppers and onions, and the impossible meatball parm. The only item we agreed was any good was the sausage which made this a 2 star review instead of just 1 star. The cart is situated way off on its own away from all the other food stands which at first felt very isolated in an alienating way but then I realized it could be intentional it is so far out on its own so you don't have to line up surrounded by meat smells, yet ultimately I think better if it were more centrally located instead of 'segregated'.
I do appreciate that there is a vegan spot but just wish it were from one of the many amazing vegan restaurants in NYC the same way the meat spots are.
Pros: Appreciate having a dedicated vegan option., Staff were all very nice., Impossible Sausage with peppers and onions was ok!
Cons: Overall standard to poor quality., The name Vegan 'City' misleading., Weirdly not among the other restaurants.

FYI: the buns/rolls are NOT Vegan - when I brought this to their attention, the attitude was basically, "Love it or leave it." This place SUCKS.

That's terrible no need for that attitude if you're working at a place called Vegan City should understand people will be asking for 100% vegan food and just ABSURD that everything offered is NOT 100% plant-based it's such a small menu as it is! Such a low bar and Citifield can't even do that!🤯

They DO have vegan buns - Edit
I went to the game today hesitant to order here after reading the reviews regarding the buns, so I asked to see the package for the buns. They showed me the package for the hamburger buns and they were infact vegan. I went to order the sausage and peppers, and they told me those rolls were infact not vegan. I asked tor it without a bun at that point, to which they were happy to oblige, but also offered to put it on the hotdog rolls, which were vegan. They gave me 2, since the roll comes with 2 sausages, which was an extra benefit as I was with an vegan-curious omnivore who was happy to take one. The workers also asked me about veganism, don't know how I feel about that. But all in all, a good experience.

"Vegan" City at Citifield is NOT Vegan! - Edit
It's been five years since I attended a game at Citifield, but I decided I would return, as it's possible this COULD be my last summer in Flushing, NY (maybe not, but we'll see what life has in store.) In the MEANTIME Citifield used to have Marty's V Burger here (which still is some of the BEST 100% VEGAN COMFORT food in NYC and possibly beyond- WHY aren't you HERE anymore?!!😒)
Read moreNow, what's sold is "Vegan" fare, i.e., Vegan hot dogs, burgers, and sausages with buns that contain dairy. And when they're asked about it, they don't care, as in, "That's what we've got....take it or leave it." Seriously, WTF?!
DO NOT CALL YOURSELF "VEGAN" when you've clearly sold out to the dairy lobby, which obviously still has a stronghold here in New York State, being that they bought out our junior U.S. Senator years ago, and your attitude, in plain New Yawk-ese, "SUCKS!"
The ONLY item on their menu that is completely Vegan is the Nachos, and they weren't really that good: bland, and so watered down by the time one gets to the bottom layer that the chips basically disintegrate. Do NOT give this pseudo, "Vegan" wanna-be establishment ANY of your business if you care at ALL about what being Vegan is really all about!
P.S. - at the very least, you CAN get a Vegetable Sushi roll right next door in The World's Fare Market (both in Section 105) which I did about an hour later, as I hadn't had a solid meal all day, and the nachos left me hungry and dissatisfied. If I ever return to Citifield this season (not likely) I'll make a special trip into Manhattan just to pick up Marty's V takeout and bring that instead!

Didn’t realize buns were not vegan - Edit
Didn’t even think to check if the buns were vegan at a place that claims the entire menu is vegan. Just found out when I went to review. So incredibly stupid.

You know you want a hot dog at a baseball game. This place makes sure you get one that’s 100% vegan - just make sure to specify!

BEWARE. NON VEGAN BUNS USED. - Edit
This stand uses non-vegan buns despite representing themselves and their menu items as vegan. This was pointed out to management last year, but no changes were made. I recently went to a Mets game last month and found the same milk-containing buns STILL being used. Absolutely disgusting.
Read morePros: Items other than the hamburger are 100% vegan, Nice variety for an MLB stadium

UPDATE: I went to one of the last games at Citi Field this 2022 season, and was informed that NONE of the buns are vegan. Staff seemed unconcerned, even when I pointed out that these items are specifically marked as VEGAN on the menu.

Good vegan options at Citi Field! - Edit
This stand used to be Marty's V burgers and those were delicious. This new stand has a few more options, including nachos and the ballpark classic sausage with peppers, but the burgers are a tad below Marty's V.
Read morePrices inline with other concessions.
They unfortunately don't serve fries, and because the fries at the regular concession stands in Citi Field are not labeled vegan (they have the vegetarian icon but not the vegan one...) there aren't any options to accompany your burger

Really Good and Not as Bad of a Ripoff as Could Have Been - Edit
I took a class there on a school trip and went to get a vegan lunch. I got a sausage, peppers and onions. It had two Beyond Sausages in it, a ton of peppers and onions and a decent bun.
Read moreThe cost was $11 which was the same as the non-vegan sausage, peppers and onions at the other concessions. I feel like I would have paid that much or likely more at a regular place not inside a baseball park.
Pros: No vegan Tax of Paying Extra, Generous Portion
