Sweet Find! - Edit
Found this spot during an impromptu trip north from Northampton MA. Great find, cool vibe, attentive staff. It was not only my birthday but also a woman at the next table’s. Staff took the last piece of the dessert we’d both ordered, cut it in half, served one to each, and it was on the house. Sweet!!

The best vegan food in Brattleboro!! - Edit
📍Brattleboro, VT USA
Read moreIf you are in the Brattleboro area or driving through, you absolutely must stop at @veganafvt! It is THE best for vegan in Brattleboro!
Everything we ordered:
- Tofu Rangoons: My absolute favorite. Crispy, crunchy fried wonton shell, packed with delicious tofu filling. Then paired with the most amazing vegan "duck" sauce and fresh kimchi. The filling to wrapper ratio is perfect. I will be dreaming about these.
- The Bahn Mi: A daily special and a twist to the traditional Bahn Mi. Tofu was seared and delicious, packed with veggies. My husband loves spicy food and he thought it was spicy. So recommend asking for less or no hot peppers if you cannot eat spicy. Side of salad topped with kimchi and the vinaigrette was incredible!
- Edamame Pesto Pasta Bowl: This dish was perfect after a 5 mile hike. So nutritious packed with veggies and mushrooms. The sauce was light and refreshing, healthy, and not oily like traditional pesto sauces.
- Brownie and Ice Cream: We were so full, but ordered the special. I nice light coconut ice cream and a rich, not overly sweet dark chocolate brownie. I think my biggest criticism is the wine glass. While pretty it was difficult to eat out of and share!
- Drinks: We ordered the Sparkling Apple Pie Pussytail and @augustinerbraeu_muenchen Helles Lager. Delicious and refreshing after a long day hike and biking.
Last time, we ordered dumplings, the pate and bread, mac n cheese, pulled jack fruit, and kimchi bowl! Everything delicious!
Overall, the food is fresh, healthy, and inclusive for veg and non-veg. Love the vibes with art decorating the walls, cozy inside with outdoor patio too. There is plenty of 2 hour street parking in front. Highly recommend if you find yourself in Brattleboro!
Other Vegetarian spot on Happy Cow nearby:
- @SuperfreshCafe: Super healthy, vegan other than local honey in medicine balls, gluten free, and peanut free.
- @Yallavermont: Vegetarian middle Eastern, mostly vegan with a few dishes containing yogurt.
Non-Veg recommends on Happy Cow:
- @dimsumvt at @cxsilvergallery: Delicious home made Asian cuisine with many vegan options!

Friggin' Incredible - Edit
I ate outside both times with my SO here and the food/deserts were incredible. The Mexican chorizo buddha bowl is to die for, vibrant and delicious. Edamame pesto pasta was well balanced and generous with their portions. The Tofu Rangoon is crazy, honestly one of the best appetizers I have ever had.

Great vegan dining. - Edit
We were in town for my birthday, and having dinner at Vegan AF was a highlight of our trip! The restaurant exceeded our expectations in every way. Here’s a breakdown of our memorable evening:
Read moreSeating and Ambiance: Arriving earlier than our reservations, we were promptly seated on the deck outside. The beautiful night added to the overall charm of the place.
Appetizer: We kicked off our meal with the Garlic Parmesan Sweet Potato Rounds. They were a perfect blend of sweetness, crispiness, and flavor—a delightful start to our dining experience.
Service: Lindsay and Nick, the dynamic duo, provided us with top-notch service throughout our visit. Their attentiveness and friendly demeanor made our evening even more enjoyable.
Entrees:
The Maple Chipotle Glazed Meatloaf was a revelation. The combination of sweet and smoky flavors along with the perfect kick of chipotle heat was just right.
The Pra Ram Tofu Bowl was equally impressive. The tofu was perfectly cooked, the peanut sauce was a bit heavy but super delicious.
Dessert and Souvenir: To cap off the celebration, I indulged in a slice of vanilla cake—a sweet ending to a fantastic meal. And as a special birthday treat, I took home a Vegan AF t-shirt for a little T-shirt activism!
Vegan AF team, thank you for making my birthday dinner truly wonderful. We’ll definitely be back! 🌱🎂👕
Pros: Outdoor seating, Mocktail menu
Cons: Things tend to slow down when it gets busy.

Elevated Vegan Cuisine - Edit
I got the peanut noodles, husband the meatloaf. We both loved our dishes (pup gives two paws up for the noodles.) Another waiter came by for our dessert order - vanilla cake - which took a strangely long time, but finally came (maybe 25 mins later.) Sadly without the birthday candle Lindsay had promised. Oh well. It was still a really lovely meal, worthy of the special occasion.

Delicious A.F.! - Edit
Amazing food, wonderful staff, beautiful atmosphere, creative drinks! We went twice while on vacation near Brattleboro, and wish we lived closer! For our first visit, it was warm out and we sat in the lovely outside patio. Colder out on the visit but they had a fire going outside. Recommend everything, but particularly loved the kale and butternut pasta, the mushroom polenta, street corn tamale bowl, the not today seitan, the Buffalo cauliflower, the loaded fries, the gyoza, and the pb chocolate torte. The mocktails are pure magic and the staff is absolutely wonderful!

OMFSM! You must go!! - Edit
The food was beyond delicious, wait staff and service beyond outstanding and the decor inside was artsy, modern and super cute. I've been to many vegan restaurants but this one was different than most because it offered a step up from casual dining, with gourmet choices and classy presentation. I don't remember the names of what we ate but I will describe: sausage stuffed dumplings with dipping sauce, butternut squash and farafelle pasta with kale, Barbecue plate with jack fruit, Mac n cheesh, kale, grilled cornbread and coleslaw. We also got drinks from their Pussytail menu ( they specifically told us there were no cocktails!) Mine had glowing color changing ice cubes and peppercorns! Yummy! I bought a VeganAF beanie and they gave us a bunch of stickers. We will definitely be stopping in again when we pass through Brattleboro!

Excellent menu for vegans and vegan curious. Loved the blueberry mocktail and Jamaican Tofu. My guest had the jackfruit BBQ combo. I sampled it and loved the it, the mac & cheez, corn bread and coleslaw. We enjoyed the outdoor seating. Plenty of street parking. Service not rushed. Love that produce sources are listed on a large blackboard.

We found this hidden gem while passing through the area and are looking forward to stopping in again on our return trip. We had and loved the buffalo cauliflower wings, the burger, and the chocolate mocktail. The staff is super friendly, we loved how our waitress referred to everyone as "friends" when checking in, saying things like "how are we doing friends." Great that the restaurant clearly supports LGBTQ+ and local artists. I bought a super cool desk lamp made from a tree branch & string.

happy - Edit
I actually wanted to try the restaurant that was here before and was sad I missed the chance but was also thrilled to realize a vegan place opened up here. The drinks, apps, and dessert were incredible. However, surprisingly, everyone I was with including myself thought our entrees were only ok/good. Polenta was watery and believe it should be firm/able to hold its shape and this is how I’m used to enjoying it. The others in my party each had different dishes. Will continue to go for friend time and dates (also a plus bc most vegan options here don’t have much for seating or evenings & ambience) and will update if it seems like I should correct this up to a 5.

Great vibe, great staff, great food! - Edit
It's a weird little shack on the outside, but inside it's a cozy realm of deliciousness. Everyone on shift was a kind, generous, and accommodating ray of sunshine. My jackfruit tacos were scrumptious, the brownie sundae was glorious, and I appreciated the non-alcoholic drinks (mine had blueberries!). Was relieved by the reasonably sized portions; it's unnerving when restaurants give you a mountain of food.

Hubby and I went here for dinner. We were impressed with the menu options and variety. All of our selections were delicious. I appreciated the non alcoholic drinks. We especially liked the caramelized onion/mushroom pate and the tofu bowl. Dessert was amazing 😍. The staff was friendly and attentive. We also enjoyed the space itself. We will absolutely be back when the weather is nice now that I see they have outdoor seating. (My only neg was the restroom down a flight of stairs; hard on my arthritic joints)

Disappointing - Edit
I know I’m the odd one out but I was underwhelmed and disappointed. I went here with friends a few months after opening and ordered cauliflower wings, dumplings, peanut noodles, burger, katsu salad and polenta. All agreed that the appetizer portions were tiny (not for sharing) and the food was good but not exciting and a little lackluster. I went again this weekend. We spent about $100 for 2 people- 1 glass of wine each, 1 ap, 2 entrees, 2 desserts. We both agreed this seemed pretty steep for 6 pieces of cauliflower wings ($10) and pretty bland peanut noodles and tacos ($17.99each). The deserts were so overwhelmingly sweet that we, both with serious sweet tooth’s, didn’t finish them. They do seem to have a good beer list but I was sad at the much more limited list of mocktails from our initial visit. My friend and I both cook a lot so perhaps that added to the disappointment? I’m sad that I won’t be returning to this nearby vegan establishment (also- why are there no pancakes, French toast, or waffles on the brunch menu?!)
