Vegan fine dining?! - Edit
This was the first fully vegan fine dining restaurant I’ve been to and it did not disappoint. My friend and I chose the “Vedge experience” option and shared so we could try as many things as possible, I would recommend, even better if you can get enough people to try the whole menu😄Each item was uniquely crafted and presented, all tasted wonderful, very full afterwards 😅
Read morePros: Interesting flavors, Cool presentation
Cons: Expensive but it’s fine dining and was worth it

One of best restaurants I’ve eaten at - Edit
This was one of my best dining experiences (I had dinner at Zahav the James beard award winning Israeli restaurant the next day and vedge was superior, by far!!!) the flavors and textures were sublime. I’d love to go back and try everything they offer.

Spicy Dan Dan Noodles - Edit
One of the best vegan restaurants I've been to. Shareable plates and great drinks, everything on the menu is delicious, ESPECIALLY the spicy dan dan noodles.

My favorite restaurant - Edit
I'm vegan, but I'm not really a vegetable guy. When I saw that this place focused on vegetables, I was weary.

Best vegan restaurant - Edit
Amazing experience. Expensive, but well worth it, especially for special occasions. The food presentation is beautiful and the taste is exquisite. They are masters of food chemistry. Need to book well in advance. I highly recommend choosing the “Vedge Experience”, which is one item from each of three menus, plus dessert.

Upscale vegan dining - Edit
I have been wanting to go here for the past five years. They were written up as being one of the top 25 vegan restaurants in the world and they did not disappoint! In fact, Vedge was better than Millennium in San Francisco before and after they moved to the Rockridge area of Oakland, CA.
Read moreI had an exquisite prix fixe meal. Everything was artfully prepared. My only complaint was the overuse of salt. I find it distracts from the flavors of the ingredients. Other than that, I had a great time and the service was excellent.
I plan to go tomorrow night into West Chester, which is about an hour from here. The owners of Vedge have opened Ground Provisions, a farm-to-table vegan restaurant in that artsy town.
Pros: Artfully prepared food, Daring mix of flavors/textures, Excellent service
Cons: Overuse of salt, Need more raw produce/lettuces

Gold standard of veg fine dining - Edit
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place. We stop here whenever we can in Philly, and have always been blown away. The menu changes frequently so there are always seasonal delights, but they do seem to keep the pretzel and pickles as the years roll on, and they’re to die for.

Great food but very expensive for the portion size - Edit
The food was amazing! But the portions were so small given the price. Definitely plan to spend $40-50 here if you want to leave with a full belly.

You should’ve done the prix fixe menu. 4 courses for $65. Plenty of food! You must not be used to fine dining. You’re in the big city. I easily spend $40-50 for lunch!

The best - Edit
In both the summer tomato toast and the summer squash and hominy fritters there was such a lovely combination of flavors and textures that I never wanted to stop eating each of the dishes. Remind yourself to eat slowly and make it last!!

Vedge is a little rich for my blood, but it’s an experience you should try at least once. It won’t be your most filling meal or the best deal, but it’s fancy vegan fine dining and that’s pretty cool :).

Fancy and Tasty - Edit
In light of the price, this might be a place reserved for special occasions but definitely a creative spot for innovative vegan fare. The service was attentive, the ambiance warm, and the dishes flavourful. We chose the tasting menu and though the portions are not huge, collectively, it was a filling meal. Highlights include the beet roll and the fried tofu. The desserts are next level and the ice cream was a hit.

Food really good, but a bit overpriced - Edit
The food could come with a warning that was spicy, the portions were a bit too small for the price. But overall service and food were good😄

Our favorite vegan restaurant! - Edit
We travel from an hour away into the city for special occasions to go to vedge. The pretzel bread and rutabaga fondue is delicious- we get something different every time we go, but we always order the fondue because it’s that good. We had it for dessert this last time! The staff are wonderful too- I have a nut allergy, which is never fun as a vegan, and they are super accommodating every time.

And the
Rutabaga Fondue with a soft pretzel & pickles
Our least favorite was the Whipped Celery Root Crepe.
The desserts were outstanding. We tried the Kumquat Cheesecake and the Tarte au Chocolat
I love that there were no “fake” meat or dairy products and that everything was made from scratch.
The price was $65 per person for the Experience which included three plates and a dessert per person. We were so glad we tried so many outstanding dishes but were extremely stuffed!
The atmosphere is perfect for a special event or date night.
Pros: Perfect setting for a date night, Everything from scratch

Vedge is my favorite restaurant. - Edit
I have never had a bad dish at Vedge. I salt every meal I eat essentially and have never even thought to here. The flavors and dishes are some of the most creative and well executed I have ever had. I do not miss this spot when traveling to or through Philadelphia, period.

One of the best vegan restaurants in the world. Amazing and creative food, warm and friendly service, and a cozy and inviting ambiance. The “Vedge Experience” is a really nice option: $65 for four courses (including dessert).

Lovely experience - Edit
12/5/23: We participated in the multi-course "Vedge Experience" for my birthday. I would say some of the items were just okay/meh, and some were delicious. Price is worth it if you have a special occasion and want a vegan fine dining experience with excellent service.
Read moreDrinks: the Great Persuader (my partner) and Per My Last Email (me). My both enjoyed our drinks a lot!
Course 1: the Smoked Portabella and the Rutabaga Fondue. Both items were just okay, reasonably flavorful but not great.
Course 2: the Chiogga Beets on Pancake and the Delicata Squash. The beets pancake was tasty, and the stuffed quash was really delicious.
Course 3: the Gochujang Glazed Tofu and the Maitake/Trumpet Mushroom Farro Pilaf. The tofu was just okay, but the mushroom pilaf was really tasty.
Course 4 (dessert): Pennsylvania Dutch Cheesecake and Sticky Toffee Pudding. The cheesecake was disappointing and very burnt in some places, although the flavor was good. The sticky toffee pudding was AMAZING!!! Incredible texture and flavor, and the ice cream complemented it beautifully. I could eat this dessert all day. The server even put a candle in the plate for me since it was my birthday. 🎂
Overall, we had an amazing time and enjoyed the food!
Pros: Some items were delicious , Excellent service
Cons: Very expensive, Some items were disappointing and not worth the $$

I have to go to Vedge every time I come to Philadelphia. It’s a can’t miss. Everything they serve is unique, fresh, and largely unprocessed. The menu is rotated often, so it never gets old eating at this restaurant.

Very Good - Edit
I debated between four and five stars. I went with four because I expect amazing from fine dining.
Read moreI have been here before and Fancy Radish in DC and had a more amazing experience.
One dish was gross (beets) but I could look past that dish.
It was the overall experience of water glasses not being filled promptly. Not changing out plates between a course (one they did), and just overall attentiveness.
At a vegan comfort food place this service would have been fine

Always a great spot - Edit
Visited vedge in DC earlier this year and loved it. So when we planned a trip to Philly, knew we had to go!
Read moreWe had 6 dishes to share between the two of us.
The Beet one was horrid. Nothing was good about it. Fortunately everything improved from there.
The guachang tofu was the next least favourite, it just didn't have any depth of flavour and was too charred.
The Florentino was very good.
Rutabaga fondue is always amazing. So so good.
The best dish by far was the farrow and mushroom maitake. Truly amazing.
For dessert I was torn between the toffee pudding because it came with cardamom ice cream, or the peanut butter cup. I told our server to surprise me with one of them.
She brought us the peanut butter cup with a side of cardamom ice cream and they were both out of this world amazing!
