Very nice plant based restaurant

Restaurant that serves two menus, a bigger and a smaller one, and a lot of different drinks. The food is well served and very tasty and the staff is kind and well prepared on the food they are serving. Nouvelle cuisine style.

Pros: Very high quality food and beverages, Courteous staff

Cons: Expensive, Small portions

Not up to our expetations

Pure vegan fine dining establishments are hard to come by, so had high expectations. Unfortunately växthuset could not live up to it.

We had the 5 course meal, but with the 3 first dishes being small sallads with rather bland taste it was not much to write home about. The main dish (mushroom) and dessert (blueberry icecream) were nicer, but not enough to justify a visit unless you explicitly want vegan fine dining, which is hard to come by.

Price was ok for the service and presentation you get.

The visit was also hampered by rather loud music from the adjacent (same building) nightclub as well as the restaurants own speakers.

Pros: Vegan fine dining, Good selection of orange wines, Ok priced

Cons: Uninspired food, Loud music

Nice vegan tasting option

As well as tasting options, which are set as a mrnu, there is also a nice and interestin non alcoholic drink set. The service is good, and the place is cozy, although you from the outside get the impression it isn't.

Pros: All is vegan

Cons: Quiet expensive, but you get a lot of nice dishes , for the money

Fermented Radish!

Had tasting menu and the second plate of fermented radish was the second best thing I have eaten. Wonderful creative food. This is not expensive in relations to thought and skill put into the menu and each plate.

Wonderful dining experience

We had one night in Stockholm and decided to go to Vaxthuset for a fancy vegan meal. I am so happy we did. We didnt have a reservation but they were able to seat us right away (I recommend making a reservation). We ordered the 5 course tasting menu with drink pairings and it was excellent. Each dish was a work of art and the taste was even better. The wines were unique and paired well also. Our meal lasted 3 hours and we were either enjoying a dish, or a wine at any given moment during that time. They topped up our wine too if we were running low before the next course. This was a truly fantastic eating experience.

Pros: Unique + delicious dishes, High-end vegan meal, Wonderful wines

You can taste the love in every dish

My local friend found this place and my, what an absolute TREAT! You walk through a club and into a lovely, bright gallery-come-dining room. Not a massive wine list, but carefully selected biodynamic wines are on offer - we just opted for the matching wines and were not disappointed. I thought it may have been too much alcohol, but it was just right - and they were indeed well paired. The dishes offered diverse, well matched flavour and the staff were brilliant. Would go back in a heartbeat.

I go here for the music but the food is excellent too.

Växthuset is a part of Under Bron which is one of the very few legal clubs in Stockholm where you can go and listen to the currently hyped techno DJ's as well as legendary house people. The food here is really really great and you have to try it!

Pros: Techno

Highly recommend

Had an amazing first experience at Växthuset. I ate the tempeh dish, it was delicious. Best tempeh I’ve eaten. For dessert I had carrot sorbet and mousse with cookie crumbs. Also very tasteful! Great place for both vegans and non-vegans.

Pros: Great atmosphere, Nice plating

Cons: Portions were a bit small for the price

Luxurious food at a high price

I prefer Mosebacke Etablissemang over this place but I enjoyed my experience here too. You definitely won't be disappointed at this place if you are looking for a luxurious vegan dining experience.

Beautiful refined Swedish vegan

What a perfect meal! Plates were carefully composed with surprising and delicious combinations of local fruits and vegetables. To start we had green and sundried tomato with peach and dill and roasted beets with blackberries, sorrel, and oat cream. For entrees, Stockholm yellow pea tempeh with local veg and dill cream and roasted onion and potatoes with mushroom. All was fantastic - including our server who gave us great wine pairing suggestions! If you are tired of American comfort vegan and want something more artful and refined, eat here! Also, not too hard to find (Google maps has the right address) and everyone was nice & helpful. Highly recommend!

average experience, not worth the effort

We chose this so-called restaurant as we are vegans and were curious about this vegan venue. Vaxthuset is very hard to find, it's like a maze and the entrance is a poor and dirty gate you would never ever enter (but you have to). Then after hundred meters in a no man's land maze, you finally arrive at the restaurant (yes, it's very well hidden in the back, poorly marked). So, 0/5 for location. The venue itself is very poor, with some improvisations to look nice. Initially we received a simple empty table in a corner, without table cloth (when all the others had) and when we asked why, they were totally surprised why we asked. After some discussions they finally accepted to switch our table with another one with table cloth, salt/pepper and candle (the initial table didn't have these elements, for the same money, it was a simple bare wood table). Also, not so many cloth hangers. So 3/5 for the hall. The menu is exclusively in swedish, but very creative (5/5 for creativity). Dishes very small and expensive, so even after all 3 courses we left a little hungry (2/5 for dish size). The taste is not so impressive, despite the creativity, the end result is rather disappointing (3/5 for taste) and the prices are quite high for what you get. The personnel is very friendly and managed to save a little of the overall impression. At the exit you have to cross again the junkyard and dirty poor looking yard and landscape until you are back on the street and after a few hundred meters, back in the civilization. In the end I could say it was an OK experience, but I would NOT go there again! Initially I wanted to rate it 2/5 but would be unfair for the cook and the personnel. The overall experience is not worth more than 3/5. And I would not recommend, as for the same money and effort you can find nicer well situated real restaurants in the city (without crossing a muddy junkyard in the middle of nowhere).

Pros: Creative menu, Friendly staff, Clean venue

Cons: Location (hard to find and junkyard), Small expensive portions, Not so tasty

Good

This was my first fancy fine-dining experience. The food was good and nicely presented. As expected it was very pricey and small portions.

Cosy place and friendly staff.

NOTE: This is a plant-based restaurant and not a vegan one. I asked the waitress about the alcohol and she told me that she didn't know if the alcohol is vegan or not. Just fyi

Pros: Good food

Cons: Plant-based

Masterclass

Vaxthuset is a must visit when in Stockholm and I would go as far to say it is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at, it's that good. Located inside a nightclub you must have ID to enter due to the licensing laws but once you are in, the atmosphere is vibrant. We decided to order the large set menu for 545kr, which although expensive is well worth it, as the food we got was visually stunning, innovative and delicious. To begin this masterclass we were first given some scrumptious bread and hummus dip, quickly followed by crudités with wild garlic puree and cucumber, horseradish, deep-fried seaweed and buckwheat. All starters were excellent and each dish we were served during the night was explained in detail by the fantastic staff. However, the best was yet to come. Next, we were served the deep-fried fennel, salsa of heritage tomatoes with pear and peas and Stockholmstempeh, potatoes, rye, currents with onion foam and garlic mustard, which were absolutely stunning both in taste and presentation. By far the best tempeh I have ever had and our favourite dish of the night. For dessert we had the raspberry sorbet, rhubarb, buckwheat and chervil but also ordered the chocolate cake, seasonal berries with Spanish chervil from the À la carte menu. Both desserts were magnificent and a perfect way to end to a wonderful evening.

Pros: Vegan fine dining, Excellent staff, Atmosphere

Cons: Must have ID to enter premises, Expensive (but well worth it)

Fine dining, sketchy area

It’s not cheap, and it might not be to place to go if you´re hungry, but it is a great and highly needed addition to the Stockholm restaurant flora.

We had a set menu, the small one (315 SEK). Good service, great-tasting and lovely looking dishes.

Directions. Beneath the skanstull-bridge. Entrance from southeast side of the building and when inside, turn right.

Cons: You need to be a detective to find the entrance.

Lovely food, slightly pretentious staff.

We couldn't have the tasting menu because I think we booked a table too late (8pm).

The food is like tapas- you choose about 5 plates between 2 people

It wasn't the cheapest but the food was delicious!!!

It was also in a slightly odd area; hard to find and seemed to be through a night club when we left, it was still quite early so just seemed like a fake smoke filled empty room with a DJ playing on headphones and security staff on the door as we left :/

Odd area but really tasty food and an excuse to dress up a bit!

Lovely espresso martini and the pavlova was delicious!!!
