Amazing food! Lots of options and friendly staff. Run by owner which is always cool to be served by himself. Very tasty! Look in the photos for pics of the menu as it is slightly different than most restaurants but absolutely worth trying!

I decided to check out this cute restaurant, When I visited Haarlem and I definitely didn't regret it! They have some great stews and Currys and I can also really recommend the chickpea chips and their Vegan Mayo. I also had a brownie for dessert which was really nice especially for chocolate fans like me😄the owner is also very friendly and we had a nice conversation.

Best food I had whilst visiting Haarlem/Amsterdam. Really hearty, healthy & delicious stews. The owner is also super friendly; he recommended that we try the chickpea fries and we were so glad he did because they are amazing!! We sat in the garden area to eat which had a lovely atmosphere. I will definitely be back when visiting the area again :)

Read moreOnly thing I wasn't so much a fan of, is that they pride themselves on being eco-friendly with their packaging and utensils and yet when you are dining in the restaurant, they still serve you with single-use items. Also, the pricing for a rice serving is a little high.

The meals are so tasty. I had the eggplant curry which had a rich flavour and was slightly spicy. Perfect for those who do not enjoy anything too spicy. The people who work here are also super friendly.

Nice place that does delivery and take out, but there's also plenty of space inside and outside to eat there. They also have home-made vegan cheeses, curry pastes and sauces.
Read moreActually, they could add more tables and make it more of a restaurant or foodcafé style place because it's huge, but for some reason they chose not too. It lacks a little in atmosphere now when you eat the food there, as they don't have places but serve it in the takeout boxes. Very friendly people though.
I thought the food was quite good, super tasty and not stuff that every other place also has. I'd gladly have it again! Seems like their menu changes regularly too.
Prices were a bit on the higher side for takeout, but not too bad, you also get generous portions.
Also everything was vegan, except on out of 8 sauces... But it was very clearly indicated on the menu. Could very very easily be converted to a total animal-product-free place, but I guess they prefer not too?

I visited with a colleague on a work trip and we wanted somewhere affordable and where I knew my lactose free and her gluten free needs would be met. VanVeg did just that. It's a take away café with tables available for customers to eat their food. There were five box options to choose from. I had coconut rice with daal and aloo gobi. My colleague had the Chef's Surprise box, which had some Dutch specialities including a vegetarian bitterbollen with mushrooms and satay. The portions were generous and the food really tasty and filling. The staff were friendly and helpful, and explained that it wasn't a restaurant. It's similar to a café where you order at the counter. There's no fuss, just delicious veggie food and a relaxed atmosphere.

Absolutely LOVE VanVeg! - Edit
VanVeg is literally my favourite vegan/vegetarian restaurant in the world. Their food is gorgeously spiced, their menu is full of options and really reasonably priced, and I can't even tell you how good their desserts are. We bought a jar of dessert there and took several home with us for the rest of our trip. The owners are so lovely and friendly and so is their dog Nina! Great location, great open air eating area, love everything about it. Every time we go to Amsterdam we'll take a special train ride back to this little gem.

The menu is quite creative but the execution is somewhat lacking. The fried food offering is good if that 's what you want. The fries were great. But I feel this is a missed opportunity. There is no atmosphere in the place. Whereas it could be a nice cafe. Bad choice of layout and design. But at least I have a good reason to open my own place.

Read morebedankt voor je review, en wat jammer dat je het indruk hebt gekregen dat bij ons bijna alles uit de frituur komt of ongezond is. We proberen altijd voor iedereen wat wils op de kaart te hebben. Het klopt, dat er bij ons veel uit de frituur wordt besteld (Bierbar 't Uiltje is tegenover ons in de Zijlstraat en er worden graag snacks bij het bier besteld), maar we letten er op, dat er altijd minimaal driekwart van onze kaart niet gefrituurd wordt en er gevariëerd aanbod van peulvruchten, verse groenten, rijst en salades op de kaart staat.

Read moreThe Spanish Haarlem Box (12.50euros) was very good, all the veggies and the ratatouille sauce and the tortilla were perfect!! Everything was made really quickly and I enjoyed eating outside in the street .
Also tried their Vegan Choco Delice (3.95euros) and I loved it. The caramel was a hit! My non vegan partner said he loved it too except the chocolate cake at the end.

Expensive but totally worth it. I was told that everything is vegan, but first I got the lacto-ovo dressing... That was strange. I don't like the idea of having throwaway cutlery, plates and cups... Why!? I ordern the orange mix... It was good but I would like to have something green on the plate.
