Nice quiet cozy restaurant. Really good food. The menu isn't big but that's ok since the dishes taste really good.

Remarkable - Edit
A cozy atmosphere and friendly staff bring a MOST delicious meal-- there are two choices for soup, main and dessert and we were all thrilled. Unique and exciting taste combinations from familiar foods (a potato pie that was just amazing! POTATOES made incredible!), fresh ingredients, perfect portions... a great experience.

Best vegan restaurant ever - Edit
Never tasted any vegan food better than this. The place is very cosy and personal and staff is really nice. Food was amazing - great flavor and so beautiful. So nice to be able to get vegan food that is homecooked but very professional and isn't the typically cafe/lunch thing.

Urten is the most amazing vegan place I have ever tried. The food was delicious (and beautiful ass well), the staff was super nice and serviceminded (really down to earth but also very passionate about their place and food) and the place is cosy with great atmosphere. Also, it’s the only vegan place I have ever tried that really felt like a real restaurant, not just a cafe or similar.

Wouldn't Return - Edit
I do love the wholly vegan restaurant menu, but when I visited, the menu was very small. There was probably only three large dishes to choose from, and when I inquired about some of them, the restaurant was sold out, even though they had JUST opened. I asked about three dishes, and they were sold out of all of them. Because I didn't want an appetizer for dinner, I decided to finish the bread the table came with and go somewhere else.

The room was very cold, noisy from the kitchen, not very service minded staff (but friendly though). The food was a bit flavorless, and not so creative. Pricy for a poor experience. Felt more like a low budget lunch with fancy plating.

Very disappointing - Edit
I honestly don't understand how this place can have such good reviews. I was very disappointed with the food. I had the terrine with leeks as a starter, which wasn't a terrine at all. Just steamed leeks and some jelly on the bottom of the plate. As a main, I had the braised fennel with crispy polenta and burned cauliflower. There was nothing crispy about the polenta and the cauliflower was just kind of steamed, not burned. Instead, the plate was dominated by a raw red cabbage salad that wasn't even mentioned in the menu. I doubt that their chef has any professional cooking skills. I'm definitely not going back and would only recommend this place to my worst enemies.

The entrance is kind of "hidden", but once in we were very pleased with the courtesy of the personnel and the quality and taste of the food. Amazing how they're doing this in such a tiny kitchen. The nut roast is a must try!

good quality food. lack in service. - Edit
I ordered soup of the day and a lasagne. Both were very good and I will definitely recommend this place to others. Service was decent at best, but the food was amazing, so I guess that makes up for the tiny lack there. We did not wait for long to receive our food. The portions were quite large, so I got the feeling that I had got much for my money.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - Edit
I had a really tasty lasagne with wonderful textures and flavours, warming me up on a cold autumn day. The salads here are also amazing. They offer a cold plate which I think is a mix of their hummus, slaw and cucumber salads for 135DKK which I think would be filling enough - really decent portion sizes. I was full but had to try their "Sneakers Brownie" which didn't disappoint. In fact, probably the highlight for me as it came with chocolate chips and candied nuts with a blueberry sauce and a pecan sauce I think? I was travelling alone so often dining alone can feel a little uncomfortable but that was not the case here, with friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. If you're in Copenhagen, you must visit. I have no doubt, even your non-vegan, non-veggie friends would be impressed!

Incredible!!! - Edit
Feels like a small Parisian restaurant. Very warm and cosy atmosphere. As with most places in Denmark it's really easy as an English speaker. The food was amazing! It's very hard to find a vegan restaurant that doesn't rely on seitan and soy to make a tasty dish. Very very tasty!

Vegan restaurant in central Copenhagen, close to Rådhuspladsen.
Read moreThis was the 2nd time visiting and while we were in a hurry the first time, we now knew to have plenty of time to spend. Urten (Herbs) is a cosy and small restaurant, above another restaurant (the entrance is on the left side). One chef is making all the food and he is keen on the details.
We had the set menu, three courses (two options on each) and we were given bread with our drinks.
I had buffalo cauliflowers for starters - served with chilimayo and avocado cream, spicy and delicious. Maincourse was a nut patty with parsnips and a red wine sauce to die for. Probably the best vegan main course I ever had (3 yrs vegan), I would have licked the bowl if I hadn't had bread to clean it off with!!! It was served with a bowl of sallad that brought me right back to Japan with a dressing of sesame and ginger.
Dessert was a blueberry cheesefake that melted in my mouth, awesome.
Pros: everything vegan, cosy athmosphere, location
Cons: waiting

Cute place - Edit
The nut roast is so delicious and came with a lovely selection of salads. The staff were lovely. There was a bit of kitchen appliance that had fallen into my soup which I couldn't have cared less about but they insisted on giving me the dish for free AND brought me a free dessert. It's in a cool part of town too.

unfortunately, mediocre - Edit
Based on the rest of the reviews, I was hoping for more. The food was mediocre. The starter was good but the main course was too oily and tasteless. We also tried the lasagna which was, again, mediocre. I would have really loved to give more stars, but I can't. I really appreciate the 100% vegan menu..

Vegan merinque! - Edit
We had grilled asparagus in creme hollandaise to start our meal with. De creme was very good, I wish I could eat this more often, unfortunately I don't live in Kopenhagen :). My friend had some potatocake with diabolosauce and other stuff , I forgot what it was, she liked it a lot. I had a risotto, I wasn't to fond of the risotto, I found that a bit to mushy, the taste was okay though. For dessert we had the meringue which was great, as well the taste as the structure of it.

creative, quality, friendly! - Edit
Come here if you're looking for a nice, quiet atmosphere as well as delicious, creative menu options. The chef was the friendliest guy, and very enthusiastic about his creation. They change the menu up once a month, and I ended up -- at the chef's recommendation -- with pan fried gnocchi in a red beer sauce that blew my mind. I'd definitely come back to see what they come up with next month!
