Just excellent - Edit
The menu is so well thought out for breakfast/brunch and lunch/dinner. We had the chickn & waffles, the new tofuego on the block, and the tahini cookie and they were all delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back for brunch and try the french toast!

Yummy and casual - Edit
Food is great! It’s definitely a casual vibe—reminded me of places I used to eat at in my twenties. More of a dark and bar vibe. We were able to get a same day reservation on a Saturday night, which is great because it got very busy.

Fantastic venue and food - Edit
We went there for my Father in Law's birthday and it was fantastic. The variety of dishes on the menu was great and each meal was packed with flavour and well presented. I had the scrambled tofu, my wife and her father had the breakfast sandwich (all of these were specials) and our kids had the waffles.
Read moreThe venue itself was decorated really well, with pictures of famous musicians and some outstanding artwork. We really loved the feel of the place.
The service was great too!!
If we lived in New York and not the UK we'd be back there a lot

The menu is diverse and the food is so so good! We had the artichoke pizza, salmon pasta (out of this world!) and tofu scramble with tempeh 'bacon' - all amazing! Staff are lovely and the place has a great vibe. Would highly recommend!

Definitely worth a visit! - Edit
We were excited to try this place based on all the good reviews. Definitely did not disappoint! My husband was craving chicken and waffles, and theirs is absolutely delicious! The greens on top were outstanding. Also ordered the BLT sandwich, which The server highly recommended, and it was also super flavorful! The Mayo is so creamy and delicious and their white bread is incredible, lol. The onion rings are also to die for! Cooked in a rosemary breaded crust, so freaking amazing

Creative menu. - Edit
They have a varied menu and I was able to try a few things. The Korean BBQ wings were awesome. Mac n cheese was also good. The street style skewers weren't anything special especially for the price. Overall this is a cool place and I'm looking forward to dining here again!

Delicious food, generous portions - Edit
Our group of four had a lovely time at this vegan spot close to the High Line, Flatiron building and Eighth Avenue. Service was quick, food was tasty and the manager and staff super friendly. We enjoyed artichoke pizza, mushroom burger, kale Caesar salad and grilled tofu sandwich. No room for dessert! We’ll be back. Lots of brunch and light meals on the menu. Reasonable prices.

Funky vegan joint - Edit
This waiter-served place offers down-home vegan food in but clean and roomy setting, with friendly staff and funky decor. I am not sure how healthy everything is, but the food I have had here (and at their Queens location) is quite good; I plan to come back!

DELICIOUS - Edit
loved everything about our visit to UVK! We visited from the UK, and after watching some tik tok’s and seeing reviews on happy cow we added as a must visit, and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The service was lovely, the food was delicious, the decor was super cool. It was a great chill atmosphere and food came quickly. We had some sharing starters and then both got chicken and waffles! We left absolutely stuffed! Thanks so much for having us!

Lacking flavor - Edit
Nice servers at this funkily-decorated place. Sadly they didn’t have their Chicken and Waffles for some reason, so I went with the Tofuego sandwich with a side of onion rings.
Read moreWhat the menu doesn’t mention is that the “side of onion rings” is 3 onion rings. Not only that, but you know how onions typically have a couple bad, papery outer layers? One of my 3 onion rings was made from that tough, papery layer! They were crunchy and had rosemary on them, but desperately needed salt and a side sauce other than ketchup. Totally not worth it. Fries would probably be better
The tofuego sandwich was anything but spicy. The tofu was crunchy, which was good, and the potato bun was also nice, but the sandwich was incredibly dry.
Overall, the restaurant gets 1 star for being a clean, decorated vegan restaurant, and one bonus for kind workers. Otherwise, the food was just bleh. Though because of the rave reviews, I am wondering if I got incredibly unlucky…
Pros: Attentive staff, Clean bathroom
Cons: Food lacked flavor, Onion rings felt like a scam

Delicious food, all vegan - Edit
Casual restaurant with all vegan menu. The food is amazing and the staff is wonderful. We had the Korean barbecue wings which was one of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten…for seitan, it wasn’t stringy or chewy either. We also had the Art of Choke pizza which was amazing and the delicious Tofuego sandwich. Yum!

They’re Back!! - Edit
One of our favorite restaurants is back in a new location! Of course, I had to get the chicken n’ waffles! 😋 my all time fave!
Read moreWe got the Brussel sprouts appetizer and it was so greasy (there was standing liquid in the bottom of the dish), I couldn’t even eat it, but we don’t really come here for health food 😅
Love the new spot, but they are just freshly opened so still have some kinks to work out. Hopefully they fix the leaky sink in the bathroom soon.

Iconic West Village Vegan Spot - Edit
I was first at UVK years ago and was sad to learn this location is going to close, we went here to get a 'last meal'!
Read moreIt's too bad this location is closing because the walls are just packed with cool photos, posters, NYC history and art, so much to look at! The people that work there are super nice & hip. We weren't too hungry because we had snacks not that long before so we just got a bowl of Potato Leek Soup and the Korean BBQ Wings small plate and a taste of our friends Chocolate Chip Tahini Cookie ice cream, it was all delicious! Try to get in before Jan 31st to savor one of best old school vegan restaurants of NYC! #Veganuary
Pros: Delicious vegan food, Cool decor, Friendly service
Cons: Closing permanently!
