Amazing asian vegan options walkable to Climate Pledge Arena - Edit
Finally we were able to try Uptown China for the the first time. We were planning to attend a laser show at the Pacific Science Center and looking for some great vegan food within a close walk and *bingo*, we found the perfect option. We've heard so much about this place over the years, saw so many pictures in the local vegan groups that saying we were looking forward to Uptown China would a major understatement.
Read moreThe food was, no surprise ... absolutely delicious! We started dinner by splitting a "Spicy Dragon Mushroom" appetizer, amazing texture and chew with a crispy outside exterior, so good! It wasn't spicy at all though, not even a tiny bit lol. I was rather glad of this fact because I'm a spice-wimp but something to keep in mind if you're expecting/hoping for a spicy kick. Maybe check with them beforehand to ensure they ramp up the spice level to suit your tastes.
For the Main Course we ordered the Orange Mock Duck and, Taiwan Cabbage Tofu. They've managed to pack such a tremendous amount of flavor in their mock duck dish, the sauce was rich and well, flavorful. This doesn't take anything like what I remember or imagine duck protein to taste like but more like maybe tofu or a child of seitan lol. The cabbage dish was very tasty as well. The leaves are pretty much whole, as can be seen in the picture. I mention this because I was incorrectly thinking the cabbage would be smaller, more bite sized. So, just something to know before you order. Last item of note, there is a lot of oil used in the prep of these dishes, a lot. That's not particularly unusual but something to be mindful of before ordering, in case you'd like to ask if they could be a bit more light handed with the oil.
Overall, the food was delicious and generous portion sizes. It'll definitely go on our "must visit" list when back in that area!
Pros: Amazing flavor, Walkable to Climate Pledge Arena, friendly service!
Cons: dishes could probably serve to have a bit less oil

I have no words for how good the food is. The mock duck is amazing, the mongolian style is absolutely delicious. The vegan menu is out of this world (you have to ask for it)

Good rice - Edit
The food was solid, they have a separate vegan menu. I happened to go there when a kraken hockey game was staring in an hour and they still served me my rice in just a few minutes. The waiter profiled me as a vegan when I walked and gave me the vegan menu before I asked for it lol

Vegan Menu! - Edit
Delicious and reasonably priced! It’s nice to have vegan Chinese food in this area again after Bamboo Garden closed down. Service was quick, even with a Kraken game going on.

They have a separate vegan menu; ask for it. Dishes I have greatly enjoyed are the vegan hot and sour soup, the crispy eggplant, Hunan tofu, vegetable spring rolls. There are still many dishes I haven't tried yet.

Surprisingly good - Edit
We came in a group and tried the salt & pepper tofu, kung pao mock duck, orange tofu, blistered green beans, and crispy eggplant. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and are eager to come back and try more things. The crispy eggplant had a great texture and flavor. The mock duck appeared to be seitan to me, not sure, but it was also tasty. Could have been spicier. I loved the texture of the tofu dish but my partner was not a fan. The salt & pepper tofu was fine, but it’s not my favorite dish. The omni with us ordered a meat dish, but I’m not sure what it was. She said our vegan dishes were better than whatever she got.

plant based menu!! - Edit
We stopped in because they have a separate plant based menu. When we entered it was during lunchtime and there weren’t too many people inside. We were greeted immediately and told to sit wherever we would like to. We were handed menus shortly after(if you are looking for the plant based menu just ask and they will kindly bring it out to you). I ordered their Chinese margarita(super tasty) and my bf ordered an IPA. We decided to share some veggie spring rolls which came with a DELICIOUS dipping sauce. I ordered the plant based orange mock-duck and it was amazing. The flavor was delicious and the mock duck was nice and tender. It’s a generous portion that comes with a side of rice. My bf ordered the Singapore rice noodles and loved it. The portions were very generous. The server was so nice. She checked in on us throughout our meal and even boxed it up for us when we were ready to leave. Plant based Chinese food is hard to come by where I’m from so this place was a must try while I was visiting Seattle. We were at the space needle and this wasn’t a bad walk from there. I would definitely recommend checking this place out.

Delicious tofu dishes - Edit
Decided to try this place out as they have a plant based menu. I ordered through DoorDash and the food arrived Lightning quick. I ordered the kung pao tofu, fried rice, pot stickers, and vegetable spring rolls. I thought the king pao tofu tasted great. It does not come with rice which is why I ordered fried rice. The fried rice was a little on the greasy side and a very small portion for the price. I thought the pot stickers were great and had an interesting taste.

Nice vegan menu to check out - Edit
They recently added an entire vegan menu. I recommend the spicy dragon mushrooms and the crispy eggplant. The mock duck items were alright, but could have used more flavor/spice.

Excellent vegan options - Edit
My favorite was the kung pao mock duck. Super yummy, as was the crispy eggplant and salt and pepper tofu. The “dry” sautéed string beans were pretty oily and could have used more spice, but otherwise good. Very friendly service.

Great vegan menu and options, good catering in Seattle - Edit
I've been here multiple times for dinner. First off, great scene and vibe. This is an old school, iconoclastic Seattle institution and restaurant. Locals bar and restaurant. Right in the heart of old school Queen Anne next to Key Arena / Climate Pledge. Their Vegan menu is pretty vast. Its an entire menu in and of itself which is cool they're committed to it. Vegan pot stickers, Moo Shu with curry sauce ( special request ), Kung Pao with tofu, Crispy eggplant. Its all good. They have the whole sauce thing down. They also do catering. We had a small catered / sort of drop off catering event a few months ago. Super easy, affordable, delicious. Came in pans. Easily fed 15 people. We didn't do all vegan but suited everyone there. Nothing better than Chinese takeout, delivery and for that matter, catered event.

I had the sweet-and-sour tofu and orange mock duck. There wasn't really anything special about it. I'm glad they have option but I don't think I'd go out of my way to get it again.

Best Chinese Anywhere - Edit
Where to start?!? Uptown China has significantly updated it's vegan offerings in recent months and they just released their fully plant-based menu! I love not having to hunt through meat offerings on a menu in search of the dishes that can be altered to be vegan. Their new plant-based menu is ALL vegan and there are so many choices! Personal favorites include: Mongolian Tofu, Singapore Noodles, Pot Stickers, Hot & Sour Soup, Taiwanese Cabbage with Mock Duck, the Moo Shoo, Fried Mushrooms, and that dish that's made of Impossible meat with Thai spices and basil, YUM! Order tons for dinner so you can have yourself some delicious leftovers. In addition to the food, Yu-Mei and her staff are the best. Yu-Mei herself is often there to greet you and make sure your meal is everything you want it to be. The bar staff are fun, the servers and delivery staff hustle, the other patrons are always up for chat, and there's a generally wonderful atmosphere...especially when the disco ball drops. I can't recommend this place enough!
Read morePros: Great food - the best anywhere., Great atmosphere., Yu-Mei herself. She's an institution.
Cons: Seating is limited currently due to COVID-19
