Glad you liked the food! I'm sorry I didn't stop by to say "hi' -- I usually do visit each table when I am in. I must have been in a rush that day.... Sri

First time visit by a new vegan me - Edit
This was my first visit to this restaurant which I located on the Happy Cow app whilst traversing Lancaster County. We arrived at about 1245 on a Saturday afternoon and received excellent service by Lex. We enjoyed the lunch buffet and strawberry cheesecake. Please come here instead of the touristy fast-food traps. Give it a try!

My favorite place! - Edit
This is my favorite place in my area! I am here once a week at least. Food is always great & staff is super sweet. I would suggest the Nepali Ensemble or the Puerto Rican ensemble. If tostones are not on the buffet, order them!!

Authentic cuisine, out of this world - Edit
This is a must go!!! The buffet was all vegan and mostly gluten free. The best Puerto Rican rice and gandules and beans I’ve had in a while. Everything was phenomenal and my non vegan dad agreed!

Check it out! - Edit
We heard such good things about Upohar that we had to check it out for ourselves. There is a buffet, as well as a small menu. We were pleased with the food. Some dishes needed a little more spice. Management should consider having spices available for patrons who would like spicier food. We felt that for the money we paid, our meals were satisfactory. We will return.

Cons: Food could be spicier.

Thanks for visiting! Glad you liked the food. Sometimes we serve spicy food on the buffet. But our most popular items happen to be mellow. So we have hot sauce on the side for those who want to spice it up.
Read moreNext time you're in, please ask for the hot sauce. We usually have a few different kinds available: an Indian chili masala sauce, a tabasco-style hot sauce, and our FIERY West African hot sauce (which is too hot for me!).

Vegan world cuisine at a great price - Edit
Delicious, imaginative, comfort food inspired by cuisines from around the world, including east Africa, Nigeria, Iraq, Puerto Rico, Nepal, Bengal, and others. I took a family gathering of seven there and we all had the buffet, plus several desserts shared around (there's also a full menu of non-buffet items). Five of us were not vegan or vegan-oriented, but everyone loved the food and was very satisfied. The price seemed incredibly low, given what we all ate — $11.50 per person. The buffet had 10 or 12 selections, and among the seven of us we sampled, and resampled, and in some cases re-resampled all of them. Really tasty and diverse. Highly recommended!

Good food, great mission - Edit
Nice lunch buffet but the hummus plate appetizer and strawberry vegan cheescake stole the show. Look up the back story of the restaurant or read the posted articles to see what a good purpose is behind it all.

I had a delicious lunch here today. I wasn't hungry enough for the all you can eat lunch buffet ($11.50) so I ordered one of the plated meals that included peanut stew, kale and rice ($9). I look forward to trying out the other interesting things on the menu. I was told they are going to begin a buffet at dinner time as well.

Upohar WINS!!! - Edit
OMG THIS PLACE. Upohar offers a vegetarian buffet for $10!!! When my wife and I went we lucked out because everything on the buffet was ALL VEGAN. It was amazing. We ate foods from Puerto Rico, Africa, India, Nepal - OH YES. This is a must see if you are in the Lancaster area.
Read moreThe food was prepared with love, and we could taste it. Just look at the pictures!!! I'm getting hungry just remembering this wonderful lunch. I can still taste the sweet and salty bite of the toothy tostones, or the fresh zesty crunch of the cold Nepali cucumber salad.
The pinto beans stewed in sofrito paired nicely with the yucca. Yucca (aka cassava) is one of the most perfect starches in the world and possibly our favorite (don't tell the potatoes!)
Yeah, go to Lancaster and go to Upohar! You will be satisfied, we guarantee!

Flavor Could be Stronger - Edit
I sample Upohar food at the first Lancaster VegFest. I had an Iraqui Sanbusa. The texture and filling were nice, but the flavor was a bit underwhelming—good, just not as powerful as I had hoped. I'd be interested to try more of their food, but I wasn't in love with the sanbusa.

Good variety of ethnic dishes - Edit
I had three plates at the buffet until I could eat no more. Loved all of it, and I sampled all of it. There were two rices, one cold bean salad, and eight entree selections at the buffet. Each item is labeled as vegetarian or vegan with the name of the dish and the country of origin. An Iraqi mint lemonade was not as pungent as regular lemonade.

I had an entree at the 2017 Lancaster Veg Fest in June. The yellow rice lacked flavor but given the overwhelming attendance and long lines, I figure all of the vendors were rushed and worked heavily. All food vendors ran out of food before the end of the festival.

My local vegan MeetUp group visited here since they've reopened at a new location with 20 members to try the excellent buffet and stayed three hours. All 10 items on the buffet table were both vegan and gluten-free. We've decided to make this a monthly meetup.

Upohar has been in the community for years and I always look forward to running into them whether they're out at a food truck type event, or stopping in for the lunch buffet. If you want a variety of vegetarian and vegan food you've never tried before, you should definitely stop in and check them out.

Perfect lunch - Edit
It's a vegetarian restaurant serving (cheap) dishes from all over the world thanks to resettled refugee chefs. This concept alone made me want to go, and I was floored by the food when I went yesterday: Congolese peanut stew, Nigerian fired rice with coconut milk, yams with tomato stew, masoor dhal and Iraqi lemonade with mint and orange blossoms. The only non-vegan items there were samoosas and chai. Go!
