Union Kiosk is my non-negotiable breakfast spot when visiting Melbourne. I try a different flavour toastie each time and have never been disappointed.

Always awesome - Edit
My previous review has been deleted for some reason along with the photos! Anyway, I went back today and decided to step out of my comfort zone and try a new jaffle! I usually get the mushroom and spinach one, whose I love, but today I tried the ‘chicken’ one, number 6 on the menu, and it was outstanding! My new favourite. Soy flat white was excellent too. They have a new seating area next door which is great!

Hits the spot - Edit
Took the train to the city for the first time in ages to have breakfast at this all vegan cafe I’d heard about online. Hidden in a laneway the cafe has 2 entrances- one for ordering, the other with seating. I ordered the tofu scramble jaffle and a hot chocolate with a marshmallow. The jaffle was very tasty even though slightly burnt underneath. That’s ok for me. The hot chocolate was just what I like. Unfortunately the nearby roadworks was loud and possibly putting people off this area, but I do love supporting vegan cafes.

Cons: Local roadworks , Was a bit cold, no heating in the seated area

Everything was great including food and service, we had to go twice in the short time we were in Melbourne. Rate the kimchi beef one in particular.

Amazing coffee and jaffles! - Edit
I went to Union Kiosk hungover for a coffee and take out jaffle (toastie). I got the baked beans and cheese one. Staff were super friendly and the jaffle was amazing. Baked beans were homemade with real tomatoes so it kinda felt healthy too??! Great size for the price. I will be back here for sure!

Vegan croissants! 🥐 - Edit
Amazing selection of completely vegan toasties (aka jaffles to use the Australian term), and pastries and cakes. I was SO excited to get to try a vegan ham and cheese croissant for the first time, and it felt so cosy sipping my drink watching the little birds hop around the outdoor seating. (Only con is not their fault, there is building work happening nearby which is a bit loud). Lovely out of the way location that is easy to get to, LGBTQ friendly, will definitely be returning for more!

Delicious curried egg sandwich - Edit
I tend to like their specials more than their menu items. I still wish they would bring back their lobster, and chikn tikka toasties.
Read moreI had the curried egg sandwich yesterday and love the flavour, though it was a little messy to eat. Hopefully it stays on the menu for awhile.
The pepperoni mac and cheese was also good, though all the flavour was from the spicy pepperoni.
The brownie was good too.

Had high expectations based on the reviews, however the flavours were a bit weak and the fusion didn’t fit the form of a jaffle well

Looks like you might have had the current special. I had that today and really didn’t like it, but don’t consider it representative of most if the jaffles here.

Tasty Sandwich - Edit
I’d never heard of jaffles- it’s like a grilled cheez sandwich. I went with the scrambled tofu with “ham and cheez” and it was a delicious treat though not healthy. I paired it with a very green salad at my hotel cafe.

Really great stuff! - Edit
Traveller from the U.K. For fellow Brit’s their jaffles are basically toasties but really good. I had the tofu scrambled one, normally tofu isn’t my go to but I had a good feeling about this one and wasn’t disappointed. Probably not the best place for healthy eating but definitely a good place for good tasting eating on the go. Will try and go back before I leave for sure.
