Meh - Edit
While getting dinner with non-veg friends, we opted for Underbelly because they love it and it had an option for me. I thought it was pretty mediocre and overwhelmingly salty (and that’s coming from someone who likes salt). The restaurant itself had a few tables meant for multiple groups to sit at, which isn’t really my thing, as we ended up getting cornered in by two groups, making it an ordeal to get out of our seats. As a side note, we didn’t mind and liked the throwbacks, but the playlist was very 2016-ish rap and pretty loud, which we thought was odd for a restaurant. My cocktail was great, though!

Tasty! - Edit
Had the only vegan option here with additional tofu wrapped in smoky eggplant. But it was really flavourful, recommended!

It was okay - Edit
Had the farmer’s market ramen and while the noodles were great, the toppings were just okay. The broth wasn’t super flavorful and it was a bit too salty. Decent enough for a cold day but there are definitely better ones out there.

Not bad for Veggie bento - Edit
I didn't know Underbelly had veggie options! I went for the ramen and got the vento box. Very filling and highly recommend. No substitutions though.

Incredible ramen! - Edit
The ramen here is so good. It's full of veggies and lots of fixings so you can adjust the spice level to your liking. I asked about the broth and yes, it is vegan and clearly labeled, they make ordering vegan options very convenient.

Delicious, rich flavor - Edit
We split the vegan tofu ramen and the tofu salad. Both were amazing and only $10 each. Love the creative seating and cheekiness of this place. Tons of outdoor seating, and they’re super clean and careful with CDC guidelines.

*****Another four stars for a 5-star place, held down by the Cow’s purity test. - Edit
Ramen is NOT vegan. It isn’t. It can be vegetarian. It can be forced into a vegan mold and these guys do it for those who want that - so YAY! It’s awesome, and delish and creative and friendly. Open for takeout March 30th during the pandemic lockdown. What a great find! I had the Seedy whatever with their amazing eggplant wrapped tofu and I gotta say, I’m running home mañana and breaking out the tofu press because that was GOOD. Feeling fortunate to find them, go give them some love for staying open and keeping up the fight.

Tasty ramen! - Edit
My fiancé and I tried both of the vegan ramens. They were both so rich and delicious. You can add the eggplant wrapped tofu as a topping and it’s delicious. It’s a really well designed restaurant and we enjoyed eating in there. Option for indoor or outdoor seating.

Changed Recipe - Edit
The Ramen with Brussel Sprouts used to be incredible! Last time we came in the recipe had changed and it wasn’t nearly as good. May give it another chance! 🥑🥑

Really good greasy vegan ramen - Edit
I love extremely greasy ramen. This is something I know about myself. Was extremely pleased to find a place with really rich vegan broth! I had the ramen with brussels sprouts and broccoli in it and enjoyed it a lot!

Bad flavors - Edit
I LOVE ramen and eat it as often as possible. On a recent trip to San Diego, I found this place and was really excited to try it. The broth tasted very off to me. Super salty, a tiny bit smoky, but no other flavors to round everything out. It was honestly hard to keep eating. I’ve never not finished a massive bowl of ramen, but I left half the seedy side ramen behind. Did not enjoy at all. Partner got a tonkotsu version and liked it okay.

Very yummy vegan ramens. I had the veggie and my mom has the seedy ramen, both of which we enjoyed. Also, the waiters a very friendly!

Vegan Ramen - Edit
Their items were clearly labeled, the only caveat was you had to request vegetable noodles.

Delicious vegan ramen - Edit
Make sure you ask for the vegan broth AND the vegan noodles (that are delicious). I almost got non-veg noodles with my vegan broth because I didn't specify both and they didn't assume I'd want my entire bowl vegan. The spinach noodle ramen with mushrooms & asparagus is delicious and a satisfying portion too. I can't wait to return!
