A taste of Italy in Cincinnati

What an amazing experience, having authentic vegan European gelato right here at home. But I guess it should not be a surprise. When I discovered uGoGelato, I did a bit of research and discovered the woman who owns the business is Italian and has won international awards for her gelato.

I visited the shop with my spouse. The young man working there was very knowledgeable, seemed like he'd previously worked at Graeter's and was very enthusiastic to tell us about the vegan options, which was like half of the entire display case! (i.e., not just one flavor or the default fruit gelato). He said the owner was very experimental and loved developing the plant-based recipes, and that she intended to have at least half of the options be vegan.

The small cup is two scoops, so I got the almond-orange and the peanut butter. The almond orange was absolutely delectable. I liked the peanut butter, though it was a bit sweet for me (I don't eat a lot of sugary foods). I also got to try my partner's wild berry cheesecake, which was also good but too sweet for me.

I'm usually torn when rating shops that aren't entirely plant-based. I appreciate that they try-esp. a place with so many options- but wish they were vegan. But they also need to stay in business, and if anyone knows the Cincinnati metro area, there is a paucity of vegan options. We're super fortunate to have a number of recently opened vegan places. So until a vegan gelato shop on part with this gelato comes around, I give uGoGelato 5 stars.

Pros: Authentic artisan gelato, Several options, Reaonsable price for size and quality
