Chocolate Haupia Coconut Pie

We stopped today with our teen that has a severe dairy allergy. Against our better judgment, we bought a chocolate haupia coconut pie which was labeled as vegan. We know better for her not to eat anything she can’t see the ingredients or talk to someone, but she ate a bite tonight & had a reaction - throat closing. I got a hold of the lady baker who said there is butter in the crust. I told her that is not vegan & you are going to take a life. DO NOT get anything marked “vegan” here!

Ambiguous

Looked great, but ... Some items were marked 'vegan', which was encouraging, but then they were also listed as containing honey, which is not vegan. We ended up not buying anything because of the ambiguity. It's too bad; we were ready. I wish the signage/packaging had been better.

Pros: Looks good, Some items marked vegan

Cons: 'Vegan' items also marked as containing honey

Yummy sweet sticky rice

This cute roadside stand (it is literally just an un-manned stand with sweets) offers 3 different flavors of vegan sticky rice: ube, mango, and toasted coconut. They are delicious, but are the only vegan option available here. Definitely worth a stop if you’re at one of the nearby beaches and want to grab a quick dessert or snack!

Pros: Cheap, Homemade treats

Cons: Other baked treats are non-vegan
