Amazing vegan restaraunt and bake house! - Edit
This has become our new go to spot for date night or just to take the kids on a Saturday morning for the bake shop. Everything is delicious! Feels a little more upscale inside, but the prices are not too high at all. There is a separate bar menu if you choose to sit at the bar or in the outside patio. Highly recommend!

Upscale dining - Edit
I was happy to finally make it to Twelvemonth. It is way larger and bustling than I had expected.
Read moreI had the house made soda which was tasty and also so pretty with a piece of candied citrus peel and little flower garnish. There are also a good number of wines by the glass or bottle.
We started with the crispy maitake mushrooms with a whipped ranch dipping sauce. They were really good.
I selected the Not Paella for my entree which had a crispy rice exterior with yummy cruciferous veggies in a delicious sauce. I liked the contrast of the charred, softer veggies with the crispy rice topping. This dish was slightly salty for me but I still enjoyed it.
My companion had the pear curry and it was also very good.
Unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert so I'll have to go back another time. The choices looked great.
The wait staff was very attentive and friendly.
The restaurant is large and it was loud making it sometimes difficult to have conversation. And being a two-top, I felt like we were right on top of our neighbors and could hear their conversation.
I think sitting at the counter or with a larger group might make it feel like you have more privacy while dining.
I'm thrilled to see so many people enjoying an elegant vegan meal.
Pros: Upscale dining, Attentive staff, Delicious food
Cons: Loud, Close to neighboring diners

All-star vegan on the Peninsula - Edit
I've been meaning to try Twelvemonth since they opened last year, and finally had a chance, stopping by for Saturday lunch.
Read moreOnce we found a place to park -- downtown Burlingame seems to have become the liveliest place on the Peninsula -- we walked inside the spacious, airy restaurant.
Our server came over as soon as we were seated to introduce herself and hand us menus. She remained attentive but unobtrusive throughout our time there.
The menu has a good array of options, enough so that I found a few potential items but not so many that I was overwhelmed. I ordered the chopped salad, which was delicious (and healthy) while other members of my party got a wrap and a spicy chicken sandwich. I tried everything, all excellent, and we got a dessert to go for later.
Since the Peninsula is mostly devoid of real vegan options, I'm thrilled to find a place that's closer to Palo Alto and much more pleasant than Greens (minus the view).

Best Vegan Burger! - Edit
We ate at Twelvemonth for lunch today. We tried two of the juice non alcoholic drinks and they were great. We preferred the one mixed with grapefruit over the one with apple juice base. For entrees we ordered a salad with falafels and a vegan burger. The vegan burger was the best I’ve eaten. It consisted of a delicious fresh bun, caramelized sweet onions, melted vegan cheddar cheese, and impossible burger meat. The salad and falafel were good, but not great. The dining room is a beautiful and comfortable setting. All the staff were friendly and efficient.

Stylish settings and all vegan - Edit
First impressions were excellent with beautiful and stylish surroundings. It’s all vegan (unless you ask the staff who are quick to use plant-based, I guess in case it scares off the locals). The menu was interesting and made a welcome change from the usual vegan fare (which I also love). It’s different and vegan places like this are hard to find so it gets full marks from me.

Elegant dining, good enough food - Edit
We had a reservation for dining at their opening hour in September, 2023. We took the Caltrain down from San Francisco and it's just a short walk from the Caltrain stop in Burlingame.
Read moreService was spectacular! There seemed to be an abundance of staff just waiting around to assist. If you looked up from your plate, someone would be at your table to ascertain what you needed!
I wanted to know what an ingredient was that was garnishing one of our dishes, and our server immediately went into the kitchen to find out.
I would definitely recommend the mushroom dish. The other dishes were just "good enough". Considering the price point on the dishes, I probably will not be dining here again.

Nice touch in the peninsula - Edit
The location is super nice. They have trees inside the building and outside has heaters and fireplaces. The crispy mushrooms with the ranch sauce was my favorite.
Read moreThe bean stew was tasty too but a little salty and not enough focaccia bread. The not paella was tasty with the broccoli and brussels sprouts in it but it could have used more aioli sauce and crispier rice. The bread was good with the furikake butter.

Cons: Price

Very good food and kind waitstaff - Edit
My friend and I shared the crispy maitake mushrooms, the autumn chop salad, and the tamales. We finished with the brownie batter for dessert.
Read moreThe salad and the mushrooms were amazing. The tamales were good but not exceptional. The dessert was fantastically decadent.
We showed up on a Tuesday around 7 pm with no reservations and were told there was no wait for the patio - so out we went! The space heaters made it amply warm, and the atmosphere outside was delightful. Our waiter was great in offering suggestions and answering questions, and the woman who bused the tables was incredibly kind.
The venue, fare, and price point are geared toward attracting a zhuzhy-on-the-peninsula clientele more than the hipster-premium crowd that's more typical for a similar place in the east bay (and that I'm more used to). Given this, I'm glad we sat outside, as the vibe indoors felt a bit more pretentious from both the hostess and the guests.
Pros: Good food, creative menu, Kind and helpful wait staff, Excellent atmosphere in the outdoor area
Cons: A tad pricey

Edited 9/25/23 2nd visit, Awful food. 1st visit Wonderful experience, amazing tasty food - Edit
I meant every word after my first visit. Four of us went (my second visit) for a special occasion. The service and ambiance remain outstanding, but the food was a disaster. Something bad happened between the two visits, I can only think different chef.
Read moreBased on my last visit I recommended the beets. One of us explained that she can’t handle spice. The waiter also recommended the beets to her. They were spicy. And nothing like the first visit.
We ordered the Crème Brûlée which was described as having a hint of lavender. It was total overload of lavender and “pot pourri” would have been a better description. That might be what made one of us ill.
My special guests both ordered a pasta dish, it was a nuclear bombshell of strong cheese that was unbearable to even sit next to. Neither could eat it.
The $9 bread rolls were nice on the inside, but dry and stale, unlike my previous visit.
The Thai Curry was the one dish that was outstanding.
It was an unfortunate disaster of a meal that spoiled a last night with special guests.
Hopefully this is not the future.

Everything about TwelveMonth is outstanding. You’ll need several dishes, 5 was about right for two hungry people but didn’t leave room for dessert. When I asked if everything is Vegan I was swiftly corrected “Everything is Plant Based”, clearly there was some kind of accent or image or P.C. overtone about Plant Based they wish to portray.
It was 5 for 5 on the dishes, every one delicious, beyond outstanding and service was excellent although a couple of the very young servers were still learning. You’ll be swiftly greeted with menus and asked if you prefer still or sparkling water and a pitcher of your choice is left for you and your glass is frequently refilled.
I’m not a fan of vegan cheese, yogurt, cream etc, but the beets with vegan, sorry, Plant Based, yogurt was delicious. That was my friend’s favorite of the five dishes we ordered. The $9 bread was well worth paying for. My favorite was the bean stew. Each dish had me puzzling what ingredients the beautiful flavors were comprised of.
Can’t wait to try dessert and also the new bakery which I understand has a separate entrance and is open when the restaurant isn’t. I’m also looking forward to trying the bar and outdoor seating food, everything looks very impressive. Worth the money. This restaurant skyrockets into local first place for vegan (hah!) special occasions but I suspect I’ll be going at the slightest excuse

Pros: Thai curry. The rest on 2nd visit was truly awful, Great service and vibrant ambiance
Cons: It’s on the noisy side when full., Was closed on my birthday! Not open every night., Truly awful dishes on second visit. What changed?

Upscale vegan restaurant in San Mateo county, WOW! It has an amazing ambiance and aesthetic. The place is huge! The menu changes regularly, it looks like, but I’ll say everything we had there was phenomenal! Interesting and innovative dishes like fried green strawberries and savory crème brûlée. Paired with a glass of wine, I was in heaven, I’ll definitely be back and wanting to explore other parts of the restaurant like the bar and bakery

Fantastic food and space - Edit
All the food was delicious and clearly marked for gluten free. Carrot curry had amazing thai flavors. Not Paella was also delicious. However, kitchen is a tad annoying yelling out the orders. Not a gan of chef Ramsey style chefs. Our waiter was horrible as he was duper slow to take our orders and was rarely around the tables. Had to ask for more water three times and remind him about our coffee orders after we had finished deserts. OMG, derp fried cookie dough and the soft serve were fantastic! Note, they serve decent sized portions. I’d suggest getting plates for family style to try all the dishes.

Best upscale Bay restaurant - Edit
Better service than BAIA and better creativity. The combinations of ingredients in the dishes are more to my taste than Millennium. That makes Twelvemonth my favorite fancy restaurant in the Bay.
Read moreUsually I have strong favorites, but everything here was so good that I genuinely couldn't pick my favorite main dish. For large plates, I recommend the Radish Cake, Japanese Curry, and Paella in no specific order. The portions on these large plates were great! I had a lot of leftovers. The Coconut Rice Pudding for dessert was very delicate, I loved the acidity of the grapefruit with the creamy coconut. The coconut wasn't masked with sugar like a lot of rice puddings.
The service here was immaculate. The restaurant is also family friendly, and groups with kids seemed to be seated in the same area. There was an entirely separate and large area with more of an adult/bar vibe, too.
Be aware that almost everyone who walks into the bathroom gets confused because the sink area is gender neutral, but then you have to enter separate man/woman restrooms from that area. It makes people think they've gone into the wrong bathroom, and people look flustered then apologize and leave. But it's the correct bathroom. That happened 3 times while I was there..
