Many Vegan Choices! - Edit
Overall I was impressed with the number of options available. I thought that their Vegan Soy Sesame Chicken and Vegan Soy Chicken with Vegetables were both good but not great. I also liked their Pan-Fried Vegan Dumplings. I'll definitely be coming back to try the Vegan Buffet!

Best Vegan Buffet - Edit
This place is incredible. It’s the perfect casual vegan Chinese food I’ve been looking for.
Read moreOrdered the Soy General Tso Chicken (best soy chicken ever) and Soy Cashew Chicken (just ok) for takeout.
The “spicy” dish wasn’t spicy at all and the portions were so large I saved half for later. Next time will try the vegan buffet they have on Mon/Thu nights.

How did I not know about this place?! - Edit
Boulder being a vegan food desert (basically) this place is a vegan Disneyland on buffet night!! Wow!

I’m concerned- the soy/tofu isn’t organic- so unless they’ve changed- it’s a big no from me. Wish they would make it a priority!

Long Live Tsing Tsao - Edit
You can’t really go wrong with the soy sesame chick’n. Though, the orange and General Tao’s are close runners up.
Read moreSame goes with most of the vegan offerings here. The appetizers are all hits and there are even vegan cream cheese wontons for when you’re feeling naughty. I also remain convinced that the hot and sour soup either has healing properties or is a welcome placebo, for this proprietary concoction has nursed me back to baseline many a time.
I will say, that since this establishment reverted to a new source of soy in summer 2023, some non-breaded “chicken” dishes (such as the soy cashew chik’n) are a little too tender for my bespoke texture preference profile. But that’s why there’s the buffet..
The buffet, which is exclusively vegan and occurs quite dependably every Monday and Thursday night, is a great opportunity to try the whole spread, from the aforementioned wontons to lo mein to Mongolian “beef.” Lucky as I am, there always seems to be the fellow diner in attendance that obliviously weaponizes their uncovered cough toward said delicious banquet (come on..we’re trying to have a society here!)
All said, I consider this a regular spot.. a personal happy spot. After all, we’ve been through a lot, me and the Tsing Tsao. I’ve laughed here, lunched here, cried here, dined here, consoled here, been consoled. Witnessed soy-chick’n pieces that bore a striking resemblance to Mickey Mouse and the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman, respectively. Converted meatheads into adherents of meatless Mondays. Pulled ominous fortunes from cracked cookies. Memories abound from those brown booths. I hope to make plenty more.
Heads up, they’re closed on Tuesdays. Which figures, cause I always crave them on Tuesdays.

Awesome buffet - Edit
Vegan buffet Monday and Thursday nights. The only place with soy veggie meats. Not the top Chinese American vegan dishes I’ve ever had but I won’t look a gift horse in the mouth. Also they have vegan hot & sour soup - what?!

Many options, ok quality - Edit
Tsing Tao is your average Chinese restaurant when it comes to quality and there are quite a lot vegan options (and faux meats).
Read moreI ordered the Kung Pao Duck. The duck had a lot of flavor but a rubbery texture. The veggies were somewhat fresh but not delicately cooked. The rice was a lower quality. The upside: the portion was huge.
Probably will give this place another shot so I can try the buffet!

All vegan buffet! - Edit
We have never seen an all vegan buffet. We are always working hard to find one or two vegan options. So we were thrilled to have an entire vegan buffet. Every dish was good. Highlights were jalapeño chick’n, Mongolian beef and dry fried green beans. Buffet is offered every Monday and Thursday starting at 5.

Fantastic vegan, chinese food - Edit
This place not only has a vegan buffet twice/week for dinner but asking for things to be made vegan and without egg is not an issue for Tsing Tao. They are a staple for our family. Never a problem. Always good, chinese food.

Amazing Mock Chicken - Edit
Their mock chicken truly tastes like the real thing, it's crazy! If you want any veggies at all, you have to order them as an extra side for some of the soy chicken dishes. I wish they were just balanced with veggies and chicken in the first place.

So good!! - Edit
Tsing Tao is a hidden gem! There are so many vegan options and the service was super quick. I had to sesame chicken and the vegan pan-fried dumplings, both of which were amazing. The sesame sauce was house made and the dumplings were super crispy. I highly recommend this place!

Many vegan options in large portions - Edit
There are two entire pages of the menu dedicated to vegetarian and vegan dishes. The vegan meat alternatives can get pretty high in price, so I'd recommend just getting something with tofu. The portions are large, so it's a great place for groups or to take leftovers home.

The service here is great. We went here twice during our week long visit to Boulder because we don’t have a lot of Chinese food options where we live. Our waitress was very honest - apparently the soy duck is garbage. The orange beef is on point.

Very good - Edit
You can get all of your takeout Chinese faves in vegan form at this hyper-accommodating and very friendly establishment. The vegan buffet is ridiculously good, with everything from egg rolls to faux shrimp to orange chicken, vegetable tempura, faux ham and duck and beef and chicken and always friendly staff encouraging you to eat more and offering to-go boxes...AT A BUFFET; does it get any better than that? I think not.

Vegan menu and buffet! - Edit
Tsing Tao is a good place to go for a treat. They have vegan and vegetarian menu. The vegetarian menu has a lot of vegetable dishes and also has items that can be vegan as well, while the vegan menu features a lot of mock meats. The soy sesame chicken is awesome (and just as good as a restaurant in San Francisco I recently went to that had some of the best "soy chicken" around). Both the "beef" and "chicken" is excellent. -- The lunch specials include vegan hot and sour soup (Which is SO GOOD!) your choice of white or brown rice and a vegan eggroll.
Read moreOn their buffet (which is Monday and Thursday nights from 5-9) they offer a truly spectacular assortment of vegetable and mock meat dishes. Chicken and beef are joined with ham, duck, shrimp, etc. (if that's your thing) -- some of those other mock meats don't do it for me (especially the shrimp) but it's worth trying. In addition to noodles, rice and vegetable dishes, there are also unique dishes like spring rolls, dumplings, wontons, stir-fried beans, potatoes, and salad items.
Unfortunately, the price for the buffet has gone way up and it's now $14.95 for an adult, so other reviews saying it is economical are a little out of date. Still, these price hikes aren't unusual in very-expensive Boulder and it's still a good place for a treat - but go to the buffet early because the dishes don't hold up the longer they're out on the table. We went late once and it was just not good.
Pros: Vegan Buffet!! , great lunch specials, service is great
Cons: buffet is a little pricy
