Want true health? There's TrueNorth! - Edit
This is the ultimate place to get healthy and to learn extensively about what true health looks like and how to achieve it. And in today's world of temptation everywhere, it is certainly an achievement to transcend the hostile environment of a pleasure food culture. Dr. Goldhamer is the real deal and a true hero in every sense of the word. He has run this operation since 1984, and helped tens of thousands of people fast and shockingly rid them of countless health ailments. Yes, the food is bland, which is intentional. It's completely natural food, and intended to help one reset the palate. They serve not only plant-based, whole foods, but with no salt, no oil, and no sugar. They are careful to avoid typical allergens and appeal to the largest cross section of humanity in order to provide food that the body can process well. The education they offer about food, nutrition, the body, and perhaps most importantly what they call "The Pleasure Trap" is absolutely thorough. After all, they literally wrote the book on it. They have a whole team of doctors, as well as various practitioners of many modalities, all at the top of their game. The psychological help is super influential as well, which is necessary to help one escape the pleasure trap of highly stimulating foods that trigger dopamine production in the brain and rob us of happiness as we desperately seek the next pleasure to match the last. And they rotate giving lectures and presentations to the guests. This is the place to come and break that vicious cycle of self harm and addiction. Finally, someone who actually cares about our health, vitality, and longevity. The world would be wise to wake up to this reality, and heed Goldhamer's advice. They also have a research department and write scientific papers to share with the medical community the powers of fasting and other approaches they employ. Get yourself in there for an extended stay, an extended fast, and an extensive education in what it takes to make this truly health way a lifestyle.

Get Ready to Heal - Edit
I did a 14 day water fast (with the help of therapeutic broth), and then stayed about 11 more days to re-feed. The staff is wonderful, very friendly, and you can ask as many questions as you want. They check on you everyday at least twice a day for vitals and to track any issues or discomfort. If you are fasting they run labs every week, and also provide therapeutic broths if you are struggling on the water. You can also juice fast, or just stay at the center for the food and a retreat. I would love to come back here every year. I got exactly the results I wanted, and look forward to eating this way everyday in the future.

Health Center, Food Only Available for Patients - Edit
We had driven up for the deli case to try a couple of items but they didn't have any.
Read moreWe then decided to call after seeing this listing in hopes our trip would not ba a waste.
The lady who answered stated guests cannot eat at the noon or 5pm buffet and that they are not permitted to serve the public.
She mentioned that we could possibly eat there if we were attending a lecture and of course we would have access if we were a patient.
We were sad to hear this but will likely try the delivery service.
Cons: Not open to the general public, must be a patient

excellent - Edit
You can only eat here if you are staying here. It is not open to the public. If you are staying here...the food...awesome buffet of veggies, hot meal and sometimes a soup. Eat as much as you want for an very low price. SOS free. No added salt, oil or sugar. Delicious and highly recommend. I've stayed at this place six times for water fasting and love it.

True Food - Edit
Love dropping in when we are in town. Meals are served buffet style at noon and 5 pm and are $15. You eat in a cafeteria style room with residents of the health center or outside in the courtyard. The food is whole food plant based and salt, oil and sugar free and is yummy. It's not easy to prepare such delicious meals without the stuff most restaurants add but True North chefs have it figured out!

A bit disappointed with the take-out deli foods - Edit
Vegan doesn't have to be bland. And even if one can't use salt and oil in cooking, there are still many ingredients and seasonings available to make foods delicious. Of the foods we tried, the pasta was flavorless and the enchiladas were stuffed with mostly potato, were bland, and didn't even seem like they were particularly healthy.
Read moreThe breakfast oat groat cakes with fruit compote were the exception, as they were very tasty and healthy as well.
