Fun local food with vegan options - Edit
We both had bowls at Trópiko and enjoyed them immensely. I don’t speak Spanish so the employee patiently explained what things were and what was vegetarian and met our other dietary needs. And they revealed that there was plant based “ground meat” available as well. Food was delicious, freshly prepared.

We had a bean and rice base and the vegan meat!! Was amazing!! NOTE: we asked about the Mofongo base and they use butter.

Great place to try local specialties - Edit
Tasty build-your-own bowls. A great place to try local dishes like mofongo, arroz con habichuelas, bifongo, maduros, tostones, etc all in one bowl.
Read moreThey have regular and mini size bowls. I found the mini bowl a generous portion not being too hungry. The mofongo was interesting, though very garlicky. I really loved their tomato rice with beans base (another local specialty but blanking on the name). I wish they had more veggie toppings. But the mushrooms, corn, avocado, and plantains were all nice.
I did not love the tostones, though. They lacked flavor. Everything (bases and toppings) was also quite greasy, but I wasn’t expecting it to feel healthy. Overall, it was tasty and flavorful, so I’d recommend it. Staff was also incredibly kind and friendly.
