Meh

We went here because H&M Cafe was closed, and it just reinforced why it's never a first choice.
We ordered the eggplant tempura, and I made sure this time to request a white roll, as they always give me a wholemeal one just because I order a vegan roll.
The bread is very average, not crusty like it should be. The salad fillings change, this time it was cabbage based, last time I got capsicum included, which I detest. The eggplant tempura was fine, nice and crispy coating.
There's nothing special about the banh mi, and you can't even get a traditional salad banh mi (that is, pickled carrot and daikon, coriander etc).
We also got a potato cake, and that was not fresh.

Cons: Bread is not crusty

Delicious!!

Had the lemongrass tofu bahn mi, and it was brilliant! Cost me $10. Had the option of vegan chicken, vegan pork, vegan duck fillings but decided to stick to tofu and was not disappointed! The vegan options are clear. Very easy. Also, the staff were extremely friendly!! Nothing bad to say about this place.

Pros: Clear vegan options, Friendly staff, Multiple vegan options

Wonderful customer service.

We tried the Mock Duck, the Chicken and the Lemongrass tofu. Out of the three the chicken was definitely our favourite.

The mock meats were both marinated wonderfully, had great taste and texture. Salad fresh and well filled. The tofu roll was disappointing as we didn't get too much of the Lemongrass flavour, was more akin to a western salad roll. As spice fiends, unfortunately we found all of them had zero chilli spice to them. We love a spicy Bahn mi! We had also read they use a vegan pate as well which we couldn't taste. None has any sauce at all unfortunately.😟

I have to say though, the customer service and experience we had in the shop would have us going back to try them again. The woman on the counter was delightful, full of smiles and generously gave us many a freebie with our order. We bought some sides and she threw in battered eggplant, spring rolls and even some sweet doughnuts to boot. 10/10 experience and would definitely support this business again!

The eggplant was crispy, though we came towards the end of the day so it wasn't too warm and not silky as I was expecting. The spring rolls were crispy and tasty and the doughnuts were delicious! A savoury dough / oil flavour mixed with the sugar on top made for a really special treat!

tasty rolls

Contrary to the description in the blurb, what “used to be the pork roll” was always bánh mì thịt in Vietnamese! These ones are delicious! I’ve always found the bread soft and fresh inside and crunchy outside, stuffed with crisp salad. I love to combine the silky crumbed eggplant with the chewy vegan roast duck. 😋

Tempura Eggplant Banh Mi is to die for

There is nothing better than an Eggplant Tempura banh mi at Trang Bakery. They use the most delicious vegan pate and sauces and the salad is always fresh and tasty.

It is a very tasty, healthy, and value-packed lunch option.

I love it!

Pros: Vegan options, Fresh salad, Friendly staff

Fresh, Flavourful and Filled to the brim

I know that everyone says that their favourite banh mi shop has the best banh mi, but this place really has the best bahn mi!
5 solid vegan options packed with flavour and a decent amount of salad. I normally get lemongrass tofu or vegan duck, still have to try eggplant tempura, vegan chicken and vegan pork! 🌿🌿🌿

Pros: Vegan duck bahn mi

Delicious and cheap

This place does a bahn mi for just $6 and the vegan options include mock duck, faux pork, faux chicken, and lemongrass tofu. Sometimes there's also an aubergine option. I loved the mock duck and whilst I didn't love it as much as the ones I ate in Vietnam it's as close as I've gotten to the real thing since.

Cheap and delicious!

This place does great traditional Vietnamese rolls with vegan options. You can choose tofu, eggplant tempura, duck or chicken filling. Plus vegan dim sims and cinnamon or jam doughnuts! A roll is only $6, big dim sims are $2 each and doughnuts are $1.50 each. Delicious! Plus they gave us three long vegan spring rolls for free!

Pros: Cheap, lots of vegan choices

Cons: None

Didn't get the chance to try due to cross contamination

I'm usually a huge fan of anywhere that offers vegan options but after visiting here and having the staff member handle meat with gloves and then attempt to make my banh mi I couldn't face it.
