Trader Joe’s is great - Edit
I love going here for particular items that are unique to their franchise. They have some really good vegan options, both for healthy and semi healthy cravings. Usually I go to Kalamazoo store but Ann Arbor is a solid second choice. They were supposed to open a store in East Lansing…. But unfortunately did not happen for unknown reasons.

I could (almost) live here - Edit
Trader Joe's is an awesome neighborhood grocery store with a great well-curated selection of fresh produce, specialty frozen foods, specialty canned and boxed foods and some basic toiletries. The store is just the right size to be able to navigate quickly and efficiently. They seem to have an excellent purchasing program that has very high quality store-brand products under the Trader Joe's name. The store is fun and friendly with clear unique signage, very friendly staff and a generally happy group of shoppers. There is almost always a free sample or two (although not usually vegan). And the kids seems to be well entertained while shopping (in part looking for the stuffed animal hidden in the store -- the prize is a piece of candy from the friendly cashier). If I had to choose only one grocery store, it would probably have to be Trader Joe's.

Cons: Somewhat corporate feeling, Does not carry every product due to its small size
