Wowww I honestly can’t stop thinking about this place. Their food was delicious and by far the best Chinese me and my boyfriend have ever had. Will definitely come back next time we’re in London

Delicious but pricey

My first visit to the new Spitalfields location. The food again was just delicious, polite stuff and great location. Only it’s bit too pricey. 2 starter, 2mains, 2aides and one portion of dim sum, bottle of sparkling water £75
Starters - shredder oyster mushrooms- 10/10
Men and wife slices - cold tofu and “salami” slices in chilli oil, not much of my thing but it’s ok
Mains - Fisc - with the lotus leaf bun as side 10/10
Kimchi chckn and tofu stew - very good
Assorted dim sum - 10/10

I think it’s good to come in bigger group and get as many plates as possible to try:)

Pros: Location , Tasty food, Nice stuff

Cons: Bit expensive

A bad experience

Its a simple premise that if you book a table for a given time you expect your table to be available when you arrive. We arrived at the time we had booked to be told that our table was not available despite the fact that we could see at least two empty tables and we were asked to wait. So there we stood in the entrance to the restaurant and waited and while we waited another party arrived and were duly shown to one the empty tables which was galling to say the least.

After ten minutes we then found ourselves ushered to the end of a large table (there was only three of us and this table sat eight) which had remained empty with all the places set all the time we were standing waiting. Now here I should add that when I eat out I really don't like sharing tables with other parties and avoid places like Wagamama because of this, so of course the inevitable happened and not long after we were sat down a party of four was sat at the remaining spaces on our table,

So first impressions were far from favourable to say the least. Our waiter was very friendly and the service reasonable,

Now for another gripe. The menu specifically lists some items as starters which gives you the impression that these will be served first and then when finished will be followed by your selection of main courses. This is not the case as basically your food arrives when it suites them and not when you're ready for it so you find yourself still finishing what was described as your starter while your main course goes cold on the table next to you.

The food itself is interesting and varied but if like one of our party you do not like your food too chili hot be careful as red chilis seem to feature in most dishes. We particularly enjoyed the special fried noodles.

As has been mentioned before it is a bit on the pricy side for what it is and given all the hype that this place has received all I can say is that my visit there was disappointing.

Pros: Completely vegan, Varied and interesting menu

Cons: Poor customer service, Overpriced for what it is

Huge menu

We got a range of dishes to share so we could all try a bit of everything. Quite expensive but food was good and staff were friendly.

Amazing

I had takeaway from the Spitalfields branch of this 3 store chain. The food was amazing. Excellent Chinese flavours. Not ridiculously oily. Right level of spice for me. I had the wantons (which are often served doused in oil with little chilli, that wasn’t the case here). The mushroom salad was exquisitely delicate, refreshing and slightly searing citric flavour. Can’t wait to eat in the restaurant soon.

Expensive but tasty

I had just a small meal of chick'n and sweetcorn soup with some spring rolls which were both delicious! But the menu overall was expensive (at least to what I'm used to, outside of London).

Pros: Entirely vegan!, Tasty classic options

Cons: Expensive

Great...

...but only if you've not been to China. My friend chose this place & I was eager to try vegan Chinese food after coming back from over 5 years in Shanghai. The staff were lovely as I used my extremely limited Mandarin on them. The food was really tasty but honestly not up to the standard I got used to in China, and the prices were a shock to the system.

Pros: Really tasty dishes, friendly staff

Super delicious fully vegan chinese restaurant, with very friendly and helpful staff. At the waiter’s recommendation, we had the wonton in a house special sauce, lotus leaf bun, twice cooked fish and ging bao king oyster mushrooms, 10/10.

Flavourful food and excellent staff

I booked at the last minute. I was going to order the salt and sichuan pepper tofu and the Gong bao chick’n with peanuts but the staff member asked if I’d been before and when I said no, suggested the wontons in a special sauce because otherwise both my dishes would be sweet. (Wontons were cheaper than tofu) The wontons were really good. The sauce and the filling both delicious. I had rice on the side as well. The chick’n peanut dish was again full of flavour. He explained there was a lot of dried chilli and not to eat them, they were there for flavour. I don’t this level of service very useful. The chick’n pieces were good and I really enjoyed it. I had chocolate cake for dessert and a pot of jasmine tea. They weee both very nice.

It’s a lovely restaurant with staff who know the food.

Amazing food, and beautiful setting.

We had been looking forward to this since seeing a vegan influencer post about it, i love Chinese food and wanted a nice place to go on a visit. It is a very special place, with amazing food. I ordered the 'mild spice' wantons but when they arrived at the table the waitress warned me they were very spicy- and they were- i picked the chilli flakes off. its a huge shame, but, the noodles were amazing, 'petal leaf buns' delicious, rice was fluffy and nice, sweet and sour pieces was expensive but AMAZING (doesn't come with rice for that price!) We overheard another table have issues with spicy food too. We had our ups and downs here, but the staff were pleasant and....we had a nice day.

Pros: very nice food, authentic and knowledgeable staff, beautiful setting, nice presentation

Cons: expensive. especially for portion sizes, a lot of the food is spicy, even when says mild

On point!

I’ve been to the other Tofu Vegan so I already knew what I was getting myself into. I let my waiter order for me and I got the wontons in house special sauce, twice cooked fisc, and the lotus leaf bun. The wontons are out of this world and I encourage everyone to order them. The fisc was good too and I especially liked putting them in between the lotus leaf bun. #Veganuary

The OG vegan cuisine

Thrilled to have a full blown chinese menu entirely veganised. Plenty of choice and a good selection of dim sum. There is wide use of fake meats but as they originated in China thousands of yrs ago it feels more fitting to see them here.
I just wish there was a little more finesse in the flavour and the combinations and regional cusines were better represented. The portions are on the small side.

Pros: Wide choice, Quick & helpful service

Cons: Was hoping for a few lighter dishes, Small-ish portions but you won't go hungry

If you happen to go again, the soups are on the 2nd to last page of the menu

Thank you! Perhaps I missed it and will definitely go again and rectify. It's just that I can't find any mention on the on line menu either (Spitalfields branch)

There are so many great options on the menu, it's easy to miss the soups. On the online Spitalfields menu, go to the second to last page. If you only see a Dim sum page with Wontons in a house special sauce as the first item, it's actually a double sided page so slide it to reveal the right side and you'll see a page with sections Dim Sum, Soups and Staple foods. The soups on the menu are mixed mushroom and tofu soup, wonton soup, hot and sour soup and chick'n sweetcorn soup.

As good as non vegan chinese

The best authentic Chinese food we've had since going vegan 3 years ago. We visited on a Friday night and it was very popular which was great to see. The menu had so many great options, we will be going back to try more. We tried 2 varieties of dumplings, wontons, hot and sour soup, Peking d'ck and the twice cooked fisc. The fisc was definitely the star of the show. It tasted so good! The restaurant had a casual vibe and the staff were friendly and happy to give recommendations
