TOFU SHOTEN NOT CLOSED!!! - Edit
As of October 2024, I believe Tofu Shoten is not closed - it has just relocated to Brunswick. This place was sooooo cute and equally as yummy. As the name suggests…they know their way around the soybean.
Read moreWe got the kinako mochi which was refreshing and light, as well as two tofu donuts which were honestly the BEST donuts I might ever have had. Fluffy, soft, crispy, flavourful, and of course…HOT!
Highly recommend making a trip to Tofu Shoten, this would be my GO-TO tofu spot if I lived in Melbourne for real!

Biscuits (shop is not fully vegan) - Edit
I came here after looking at the menu outside and seeing there were a lot of vegan items. They label the sweets that are vegan, but not everything is so just check. I got two biscuits the matcha and strawberry one and the chocolate and chestnut one. I thought they were nice enough but probably not to my taste which isn’t their fault. Staff were lovely.
Read moreI do want to try their fried tofu so I will return for savoury items.

super soy - Edit
Sadly I can't afford to buy their tofu all the time but feel so fancy coming here as a treat. The shopfront is minimal and stylish and the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. There's often a line out the front when the market is open but that's mainly because they only allow 3 people in the shop at a time.
Read moreI can never go past the potato and tofu fritter with lemon grass and chilli. Love to wash it down with a glass nutty black sesame soy milk on ice. Their homemade soy milk is THICK so wouldn't buy it for coffee. The red sugar flavour is almost like pudding but it's great on ice. A real treat!
Also love the okara biscuits in rotating flavours, especially the sweet potato cream and red bean. Check their Instagram to see if soy cap is on the menu - soy milk mochi, coffee cream, and choc biscuit crum, yum! Otherwise their are other vegan mochi or tofu tofu based deserts on rotation. Really want to try some of the warm tofu deserts next.
The ganmo and smoked tofu are my favourite things to take home. Be aware they don't use preservatives so you need to eat them up within a few days. Everything they sell is so carefully and lovingly made. One of my favourite vegan-friendly businesses in the city.

A place designated for tofu! What a dream!! - Edit
Such an amazing place near the Queen VIC Market. The soy milk is so organic that I found it hard to drink on its own hahha definitely not like the cartons you buy in the supermarket with added sugars etc. The smoked tofu was quite pricey and I would have preferred if it was firmer but it was still incredibly tasty. Lots of new things to try here. This really is the place for VEGANS!!
Read moreIt’s quite pricey but you pay for the quality!! Definitely a place to go if you want to treat yourself
Pros: Organic, fresh and incredible quality , Minimalistic style, Encourage BYO bags etc to reduce waste
