Wonderful burgers! - Edit
I loved my delicious vegan burger with sweet potato fries here. I dined al fresco in a lovely area. They have gluten-free options available if needed. Next time, I would definitely like to try one of their vegan cheesecakes.

Such a gorgeous and cozy place, staff was lovely, and even though they only served burgers and fries, which I normally am not so crazy about, I loved my visit to Tökmag. My local friends highly recommended it and the burgers were honestly amazing, very flavoursome, full of fresh veggies as well, and quite innovative. The patties were made out of seeds and grains, I think, I initially loved my squash burger, but after I tried the nacho burger, I was even more amazed. They have loads of dessert options as well. The Somloi (Hungarian tiramisu) was very rich and creamy (my Hungarian friends loved it), and the lavender lemon "cheese" cake was very unique as well.

Great choice of vegan and glutenfree street food, you can't find somewhere else all around❣️ We are incredibly happy to eat here, ordered turmeric lentil soup, pasta all' arrabbiata with mushrooms, soooo tasty....love it so much. The Mushroom Burger 🍔 very delicious as well.

They have a big choice of burgers. Maybe it is not the best tasting vegan burger I ever had. However, all patties are plant based and homemade from whole foods. You will not find store bought patties such as beyond meat or similar. That is a plus as they show their creativity with food. That is why I am giving 5 stars instead of 4. And sweet potato fries were one of the best I ever had. Cheese sauce was pretty good as well. You can taste it is made from whole foods instead of store bought cheese. The bread was nice and soft.

So delicious- they have different menus depending on the time of day - I had the burgers to choose from, each option has a patty made out of different vegetables - very imaginative! Satisfying burgers at Tokmag - Edit
Good food, fast service, and cute ambience. We shared a satay burger and a beetroot burger, plus fries. Food tasted wholesome and fresh, with unique flavor profiles for each. Food came out quickly. Desserts and salads also looked great — hopefully another time.

Read moreShould I say one single and not very important negative thing: The entrance is a bit awkward - quite small. There you place your order and at least one person speaks English quite well. Then you walk downstairs and there, there, there ... a very nice quite big, clean and modern room. There you can also order more things if you want to. As I was in Budapest for dental care and as I'm also a vegan... Here I can have two sorts of very good soups with a bit of bread. I have often used the take away option a lot. They have some very, very nice cakes and desserts! I think they are raw cakes. And I also took some quinoa salads and other things like that and all that, I put in the minifridge in my hotel. I will probably have to go to Budapest once a year for almost the rest of my life and I cannot imagine doing that without going to Tökmag at least once during my visit!
I forgot to say that the young staff is absolutely charming and helpful! AND AND AND: Next week I will be back for two weeks, so get ready Tökmag !

I specified in my review that their closure was TEMPORARY. I see it as a reason to give a negative review on HappyCow, because their restaurant was marked open on HappyCow, not as temporarily closed. Fortunately, I can also change the review once I am back in Budapest and eat at theirs; then, my experience of a customer is going to become more relevant. But up until then, my only experience is their being closed while advertised as open. For example, they could be temporarily closed every other day for what I know; then, it would be relevant feedback for other potential customers.

OK Michael. I arrived in Budapest last Sunday the 28th of April and I have been to Tökmag twice since then and everything was as good (near perfect) as ever. As a toothless vegan, Tökmag has always been the place I could count on since I started to go to Budapest for dental work two years ago :-). I find that it is absolutely forgivable when someone has a technical problem that the first thing they think about is NOT necessarily to mention it on Facebook or Happycow. They DID mention it on Facebook though and I guess that anybody can be on Happycow without signing up there by themselves - I'm even quite certain that lots of vegan restaurants don't even know that they are on Happycow... OK Michael, next time you come to Budapest I hope you will go there and I also hope - if it's possible - that you will perhaps delete this thread if you're pleased with everything then ?
