good and cheap / would go again - Edit
You get rice or noodles and then can chose of a huge variety of meat like stuff probably made out of tofu etc, a little bit of veggies (like pak choi and other greens like that). you get a small soup in additional and can drink iced tea as much as you want. that together for a price of ca. 45k dong.
Read moreThe people there don’t really speak english but are prepared with google translator to make it easier. Peol there are helpful and quite friendly. Rice is warm, food mostly is cold prbabaly dependent on when you come there (I was there in the afternoon). They also have nice vegan snacks like crispy „chicken“ in a box for takeaway (50k dong).
update: i am not sure if it is 100% vegan. I would say it’s vegetarian with vegan options. at least they sell „bird meat water“ and that’s definitely not vegan. but you can skip that. i guess it’s quite popular in Vietnam. also the sign says „vegetarian restaurant“.

Pros: sauces / dips at every table , cheap , takeaway options

Cheap Vegan Buffet - Edit
Located next door to a temple, this is a very small vegan Chay restaurant... mainly for locals. Very little English is spoken and it’s your typical point and choose buffet restaurant. Mainly mock meats with little veg. We arrived around 6:30pm in the evening and there wasn’t a whole lot left and it was cold (except for the rice) but still tasted super good nonetheless... maybe the best flavoured mock meat we’ve had in Vietnam?

Super friendly, very tasty and dirt cheap - Edit
If you are staying in or neae Duong Dong, you can walk to this place. It will take you a good 15-40 minutes depending on where you are staying and you will need typ cross the bridge near the night market area. After crossing the bridge there's about a 5 minute walk through a very local area - if you have a hard time with meat, fish or unhealthy environments this walk might be a bit challenging, you can always go by taxi instead
Read moreThe restaurant is very simple, not at all arranged for western tourists - this is a good thing but you should be aware of it. There's usually at least one perspn around who can communicate a little bit in english. And all the staff we met were super friendly to us.
Yiu basically choose between noodle soup or steamed rice and then choose what proteins and extras you want by pointing at it. Since the english were a bit limited, the first time we just asked for a mixed plate and they composed a plate with all kinds of seitan, soy ans tofu products for us. Your food comes with an extra free small bowl of tasty soup. This food was by far the best we had on the Island. But the somewhat remote location resulted in us not eating there as much as we would have wanted. But once you get there, the food is super good and people are veeu friendly, which means a lot when you cant easily communicate with words.
The price is ridiculously low we ate for two, had one bottle of cold water and purchased a small bag of spices that they used for the free soup (super tasty) and we payed ~80k vnd for it all. In Sweden that price can be compared with a cup of coffee on a cheap café...
Pros: Really friendly staff, Super tasty food, Very low prices
Cons: Location, Interior and table setting

Decent food and decent price - Edit
Grabbed a plate of rice and mock meats here for lunch and left fully satisfied. Most of the mock meats were pretty good, but the mock chicken wings here seemed to stand out as they were marinated in what I think was lemongrass and turmeric. Cold tea is free and available in a cooler which is a nice touch. All together we got a place with rice and mock meats, a bowl of noodle soup and a second helping of rice and a little more mock meat for 100VND. Not bad! Also the boy (seemed to be a teenager) spoke good English and was very helpful.

check out the battered sweet potato fries! - Edit
we went for the buffet and it was closed. we returned and it was closed. we returned again and they opened reluctantly. the buffet was average and had been sat there all day so to be honest we didn't really enjoy it. we wish we'd eaten the battered sweet potato fries that were being cooked outside, they looked great and a customer helped us confirm they were vegan. it's rught next to the temple so easy to find.

Real Local CHAY(VEGAN) dining - Edit
We came 3 times in a row this is the only place we came more than once in 2 weeks vacation in whole Vietnam trip.
Read moreBecause it was tasty! Cheap! Fast! And fairly clean compared to other local chay place.
This is real local style so don't expect they will be coming to you (no staff speaks English).
Go and get the staff and show the good translation! Or point what you want.
You can order more staff than buffet style.
BUN = Noodle
LAU = Hot pot
We had food above-mentioned and buffet with rice and the vegan steam bun. All very good.
We found this place always full with locals. We decided to try and it was great success!!!
Pros: Tasty, cheap, fast! , Cleaner than other local Chay(VEGAN) diner.
Cons: No one speaks English, use Google translation!

Local vegan restaurant - Edit
Having breakfast here was a good starting with broken rice dish and the noddle as the common dishes in Vietnam. The taste amazed us with their sauces.
