Caters to vegetarian/vegan staples

I stop here often when in the area and have been a customer for several years. There are great grab-and-go lunch options as well. This is the kind of independent specialty market that I need as mega retailers lack many of the staples

Pros: Ingredients Selection, Variety , None of the junk you don't need/want

Cutest grocery store in the state!

I always love to come in and see what they have! Something new every time, they seem to rotate a lot of their inventory. I love that because it forces you to try new things and take advantage that they are there! Christmas time is the best, all the vegan sweets!!

Come Closer

I want to give this 4.5 stars, but it deserves 5 over 4 stars. It's small and I wish it was bigger, but it does have a wonderful selection (for the size)! I'm not a fan of the prepared food because it's usually overpriced. And the regular store items are not always "affordable." As far as the produce, I've never had to return anything, and it always looks very fresh. The parking lot is hard to get out of, and it's small. The workers are lovely. The store seems taken care of, and ultimately I just wish it was closer so I could shop here more frequently.

Great options, pricey

T&S has some awesome vegan options with rotating hot meals, soups, draught kombucha, fresh produce, and frozen/shelf stable products. They also have an entire isle for herbs, beauty products, and supplements. The staff is always very friendly. The only reason we don’t frequent the store is because they are very overpriced. We tend to only go here to get vegan products that we can’t find elsewhere.

Pros: Decent organic produce selection

Great store, many vegan prepared foods options

This is a wonderful small natural foods store with a really good variety of products and produce, both organic and regular, especially given the small footprint of the place. Close too Quinnipiac campus. When in season, they feature local farms. For vegans, the food bar is fantastic. They typically have at least two vegan soups every day. At the hot food bar, they have at least one vegan breakfast option (the "egg and cheeze" veggie wrap is great), as well as a few lunch options. They also have cold prepared foods like salads and wraps made in house, along with a variety of out of house items. The French lentil and jackfruit "tuna" salads are favorites. Prices are more than fair given the quality. Head either way on the CT shoreline and you will pay much more. In sum, great spot for vegans. Or for anyone looking for healthy good food.

Pros: delicious vegan options, hot and cold, great soups

Cons: takeout only. No hot sauce available as a condimen

My neighborhood store

For the size of this small market, the selection is surprisingly good. Obviously, you aren't going to get your grocery list here, but you can certainly get everything you need for a good dinner, some great prepared foods, local veggies along with many items you won't find in the larger stores. I have always found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable. The prices may be a bit higher than larger stores, but not that much and I think a bit extra is totally worth it for the convenience, not to mention to support a valuable small business.

Pros: great variety of products for thier size, convenient, great prepared food

Cons: a bit pricey, you won't find every brand you might want

Just ok

There small selection of hot foods is usually pretty good. But this place is very expensive. I have often felt as if I was bothering the staff there when I asked questions about products, such as homeopathic items, for example. There is one particular female cashier who is just down right rude. I used to go in that shop almost every day, and unfortunately the one time I went in with my fiance we faced racial discrimination. She kept looking at him funny, and whenever we went down the isles, she would follow us, watching everything we might have picked up to look at. I mean, she was literally staring us down. When we approached the cash register, she asked us if we took anything!!!! My fiance is Columbian, maybe the fact the he is spanish lead her to believe he was a criminal, but also, my fiance is a POLICE OFFICER!!! I haven't been back there since. It is expensive, and I have often found products on the shelves that were expired. I think their heads are too big, and need to be brought back down to reality.
I will note that normally I am not one to write a bad review, and try to focus on the positives about places I have been to. However, I cannot do that in this situation and truly feel that potential customers should really be aware of what they are getting into.

Cons: too expensive, rude staff, needs to clean their store

OVERPRICED

I think this place is way overpriced but then again, they have no competion outside of Edge of The Woods in New Haven. You have to watch the cashier when she rings up items that are marked down and not in the computer yet, you will get charged regular price. That to me is not good business practice and I pointed it out numerous times to the cashier and manager. The manager of the produce section hovers around the small selection of produce like she was guarding King Tuts Tomb. And what a sour face!! This woman has never cracked a smile. The hot foods and soups are not bad. I am not one for salty foods and unfortunately someone in their kitchen has a heavy hand with the salt espeically in the soups. Overall I prefer Edge of The Woods, for selected items but Trader Joe's wins my heart.

Pros: nice staff, clean

Cons: PRICEY
