They have no idea what vegan means

The profile of this restaurant in HappyCow contains misleading or/and outdated information. The staff had no idea what vegan meant and after a while of explaining what we ate and what not they said they had only ONE dish in the lengthy menu that was apt for vegans. It was rice with vegetables and it was tasty but the overall experience vs expectations was for us very disappointing.

Pros: At least one vegan dish, Friendly staff

Cons: Staff has no idea what vegan means, Very limited vegan options

No Vegan Menu as Described, Little Understanding

We came to this place specifically because of the Happy Cow profile which mentions a vegan menu. It’s not true, at least when we visited. The staff had no idea what we were talking about.

I had a pretty lengthy conversation (no eggs, dairy, meat, honey, or things with those ingredients) with our waiter describing what we cannot eat. He seemed to understand, so I asked if their veggie burger would be ok. He confirmed that it was, but it came out covered in mayo (not listed on the menu description). He confirmed that it was egg mayo, so we asked them to please to make it again without. 10 minutes later he came back and said the buns are also made with egg. Not pleased that we would have eaten the bun obviously if not for the egg-mayo, which was clearly non-vegan. We changed our order to a curry instead. It was fine and the fries and fresh juices were very good.

Later our waiter told us we’d need to pay for the veggie burgers which we couldn’t eat. Not cool. We worked it out eventually with the manager, who was very kind, but not the easiest experience.

Perhaps they will be more aware in the future. Definitely ask to clarify ordering with the restaurant manager before putting in your order if possible to avoid mistakes.

Pros: Great juice and fries, Kind management

Cons: No vegan menu, Staff don’t get it/misinformation , Limited options
