nice vegan options / super friendly waitress - Edit
I went there to watch a basketball game with a few people from the hostel. Did t think they have many vegan options amd thought of only having drinks.
Read moreFortunately and for my surprise the very friendly waitress was also vegan and told me that they can make every chicken dish vegan with a vegan chicken replacement.
I took the bbq chicken salad and was really happy with it.
I also liked that they were serving unsweetened icetea.
Will probably go again.
Pros: Super friendly and helpful waitress , bbq chicken salad , unsweetened icetea

Cool American bar experience - Edit
Very cool bar experience. They offer a fantastic selection of beers and cocktails. I recommend the beer flight so you can try an assortment of some of their housemade beers. Our server was wonderful and gave us very good suggestions for our drinks.
Read moreThey have a whole vegetarian menu. I strongly recommend getting the hot & spicy edamame, it paired so well with my sweet lychee cocktail. We ordered the tomato bisque - it was so creamy and delicious, paired with some rustic bread and butter, the veggie burger - while it tasted good, it was a bit too mushy in texture for me with the avocado inside, but the truffle fries were sooooo good!
We finished off with a warm brookie topped with housemade vanilla icecream, which was totally epic. It was a huge size though, so we couldn't finish it after a big meal.
They're open all day and late into the night which is a definite plus. They have ample seating both inside and outside so waiting time is not too much.
Pros: Separate vegetarian menu, Lots of both snacking and entree options , Fantastic beer and cocktail menu
Cons: Unsure if they have vegan options

Food for everyone with a vegan menu - Edit
We were looking for a place with vegan options and we found a good one, Yard House. The menu had a selection of items based on Gardein products. The staff was knowledgeable about veganism. They told us that cross contamination could be an issue. We were okay with that, our practical veganism is based on what we actually eat, or pay for.

Good Vegan options - Edit
We came here two nights in a row. Great beer selection and amazing mixed drinks. There were only a few vegan options but the wait staff was knowledgeable and helpful in making substitutions. If you are on the main strip in Waikiki it’s a must stop.

Delicious Gardein Options - Edit
Their food is really really good, but it’s hard to know what’s vegan and what’s not because the “v” on their menu means vegetarian. Some of the gardein wings are NOT vegan because of the sauces!! Please google their allergen menu before you go. It’s an easy google, and it’s very helpful. I believe the BBQ are not vegan. But I always get the lemon pepper and they’re soooo good! There’s also a beyond burger which is reliable. They have chips and guac too! Sweet potato fries with maple syrup, etc. (PS let’s all remember - cross contamination is not a vegan issue. If you take issue with your food being fried in the same oil as animal products, then that’s great, but you’re not any less of a vegan if you don’t! It is VEGAN to eat food that was fried in the same oil as animal products!!!)

Little to no Vegan Food. - Edit
Starting positive, our waiter was extremely helpful and diligent in checking dishes for whether or not they were vegan. Unfortunately, this meant that we were told that practically practically nothing on the menu could be made vegan.
Read moreThe pizza is made with milk, so replacing the cheese on the margarita pizza doesn’t work. And, the “vegetarian” wings are apparently deep fried right next to the real wings, so he recommended we steer clear of that as an option. We ended up getting steamed edamame, which was good, and beyond burgers, which is the only reliably vegan dinner item.
If you are vegetarian, there are decent options here, but for any vegan, Yard House is not a suitable restaurant. Unless, of course, you’re okay with eating food that's “kind of” vegan.

I’ve lived on island for a while and have had my fair share of vegan restaurants. I really like their selection here because if i come with family, we can all have what we want. I ordered the orange chicken with rice and it was great!

Didn’t even order food.... - Edit
Service took a long time and once we asked what was vegan I feel like the serves attitude towards us declined, he didn’t have any knowledge on what was vegan so he pointed at something on the menu and said I’d play it safe and order that, we ended up just finishing out drinks and going elsewhere.

Okayish Food - Edit
Yard house is good to go to if you don’t have any other place you can go and like beer. This is also a good spot if you have a big group of people with omnivores in the mix. I got the vegan garden burger. The burger itself was pretty good. It got a little mushy towards the end. The fries were horrible. They tasted old and were stale. I also found a hair on my plate which isn’t ideal. The service is pretty good otherwise. I wouldn’t recommend coming here, but maybe you have better luck! Take note of their two happy hours from 2-5:30pm and 10:30-close! You can get half off appetizers- gardein wings included.

Convenient option near hotels - Edit
We were trying to stay away from chain restaurants, but chose this restaurant because of its Gardein section on the menu. Not all dishes in this section are vegan, but seem easily modified (ie: some items have dairy cheese, but there is a vegan pizza with daiya listed as an ingredient, so I’m sure you could swap). We had Gardein wings as an appetizer, then a “chick’n”/rice/vegetables Asian dish and the vegan burger. I would recommend coming during happy hour to get a deal on the wings! Half price.

Truly Awful - Edit
We had a vegan burger - terrible, mushy and slimy at the same time. Side of salad was a joke, with some truly un-appetizing dressing.
Read moreA chicken substitute, it had texture but was spongy.
This was truly an awful meal, and the service was not great. When we said the food was not good, we were waved off, it seemed that as we were eating the veggie options, then we got what we deserved.

Lots of vegetarian options - Edit
There are so many vegetarian options here, they have a section on the menu for the Gardein meals. We had a pizza and the Gardein buffalo wings, the wings were so good! The portion sizes were good as well. We had that and a couple of beers and it only came to just over $22 as we were there for happy hour. Would definitely go back again to try more of the Gardein meals!

Very accommodating - Edit
The Yard have a specific menu containing Gardein fake meat products. They have a vegan burger with vegan cheese. They will adapt any of the other gardein do dishes to make them vegan. All of the dishes on this bit of the menu are already vegetarian. Lots of variety and nice staff. Atmosphere is a bit more 'lunchy' and bar like with sports on the TVs. A great place to visit especially if you want a quick bite.

Good options and food - Edit
We had a good dinner here after a day of traveling. There is a Gardein section of the menu and the server was great at recommending adaptations to make the vegetarian marked items vegan. The lettuce wraps on the app menu with tofu and shiitakes were delicious. Also had the gardein chicken stir fry and buffalo wings and they were both pretty good. Nothing really blew our mind, but was overall decent food, great drinks, and good service.

Good for vegetarians, only sufficient for vegans - Edit
The location and atmosphere may be what you want, and in that case this is maybe your best option, but it's nothing you should go out of your way for if you're looking for vegan food.
Read moreYard House is conveniently located if you're in the shopping/tourist district of Waikiki. The beer selection is amazing.
It seems to get quite crowded. We were quoted a 25 minute wait time, but it didn't take that long. It definitely has something of a sports bar feel with all the screens.
There's a vegetarian section of the menu dedicated to items made with Gardein brand faux chicken. However, while that brand is vegan-friendly they don't seem to have made any sort of effort to have vegan options on that menu. A few I think are accidentally vegan, those that are more Asian food inspired. It's actually really weird, in 2015, to see a restaurant bend over backwards to have a lot of vegetarian food but completely ignore that vegans exist.
I got the lettuce wraps with tofu and mushrooms and the Gardein wings and both were pretty good. If you wanted to press them more on whether other menu items could be veganized, you might have some success. Our server was very good and even double-checked that we had no nut allergies when I order the lettuce wraps, so they may be able to work with you.
I'd give it more stars on something like yelp, but given the focus of Happy Cow, I wouldn't rate it any higher than three.
Pros: Large beer selection
Cons: Limited vegan options, No purposefully vegan options
