Average Food Served with Below-Average Service - Edit
We were very excited about eating at The Wild Goose but only had about an hour to do so. Knowing we wouldn't have enough time to ask for the dessert after our meal (and liking to eat the dessert at the same time as the main course), I asked for the Chocolate and Coconut Tart at the same time as the two main courses (Vegan Burger and Vegetable Vegan Korma). The waitress repeated my weird request to make sure she heard correctly, so I assume she understood what I asked for. The main courses took a while to come but were tasty enough, even though I would not return for either of them. The bummer was when the dessert did not come at the same time as the main courses, like I had explicitly asked for. The waitress finally arrived with the dessert after the main courses, when we were ready to leave, and we had to leave the dessert to waste otherwise would have missed our business meeting. (We were not charged for the Tart.)

Separate Vegan menu - Edit
You have to hand it to the Wild Goose, having a separate vegan menu in a countryside steakhouse restaurant catering to truckers and farmers is pretty thoughtful and amazing! They also have a gluten free menu - I MEAN HELLO THIS IS GREAT!!
Read moreI'm so so grateful for the vegan menu because the restaurant is located in a perfect location for me to meet relatives 'half way along the road' for dinner mid-week. My family members can eat meat and veggie options and I can have a filling, hearty Vegan dinner! We're all happy!
I've eaten here many times and have enjoyed stews, soup, falafel mains, casseroles and other hearty meals that would full you on an autumns evening. However, the food is basic and not very creative. They also have delicious sorbets for desert as well as a vegan chocolate cake but I found the cake left more to be desired.
I'm apprehensive about putting the food down because I'm so delighted this place is trying but I do think they could do more to improve the food.
The portions are huge which is a welcome change to this vegan!
Prices are very reasonable and staff are always friendly, ready to answer questions on their menu.

Vegan options in Mallow!!! - Edit
Saturday lunchtime pretty busy... good sign!
Read more3 vegan options starters and deserts.
I went for open pitta and falafels....
Fairly standard from the freezer falafels and no sauce with the pitta served with about a spoonful of plain hummus and chips...
Don’t get me wrong, it’s great to have a few options but this dish could so easily be pimped ...
Come on wild goose!!!
Btw waiting staff were all really friendly and attentive, so that’s a bonus😊
Pros: Some choices including desert choices, Friendly staff
Cons: Pretty standard fare, Bit busy

Not great for breakfast - Edit
It's great to see a restaurant in mallow offering a vegan option but unfortunately the breakfast isn't great. Vegan breakfast was mushrooms beans half a tomato and deep fried chips.Very greasy.White toast. On the menu it says served with vegan spread and soya milk and i didn't get either.I came out of there feeling like I just ate in the chipper.Would have loved maybe some wilted spinach more tomato and wholemeal toast.
