Friendly, cosy, dog friendly but few vegan options. - Edit
The Wheatsheaf is a beautiful building in a gorgeous Cotswold market town. There was a lovely log fire burning on the day of our visit. The waiting staff were charming, helpful and very tolerant of the dogs in the restaurant.
Read moreThere were two plant-based starters which were both delicious but only one plant based main meal. There was leek and potato soup or whipped chick pea and tahini with ciabatta and some salad garnish.
The plant based desert was delicious - an apple tart tatin with vegan caramel ice-cream.
So, a mixed party of omnivores, vegans and vegetarians could find a way to eat together but the menu suits the traditional hunting, shooting, fishing kind of culture.
For those of us ethical vegans, it's quite hard to see the flesh dished up all around, but the seating doesn't lend itself to segregation.
We were regularly asked if everything was ok and the waiter acknowledged they could do better with their plant based main meal offering. I think this venue is worth supporting in their effort to provide vegan options.
